A number of unique educational programs & nbsp appeared in the master's degree program at ChelSU.

It is not difficult for specialists with medical education to find work abroad. The profession of a doctor all over the world is always in demand and highly paid. Most countries offer doctors a high salary level, but they also place high demands on specialists. Registration procedures differ in different states.

Despite the difficulties accompanying employment in another country, the level of salaries invariably attracts new and new job seekers. Working as a doctor abroad is well paid, but it also requires high qualifications.

Salary level

What is needed for employment

When applying for a job in a public or private clinic, the candidate needs to prove qualifications, learn the language and pass several exams.

In any country, before finding a job, a person who has a medical diploma must undergo a nostrification procedure (receive an international diploma). In some states, it passes easily and in a short time, in others it stretches for a long period.

Diplomas issued to doctors in Russia and the CIS countries are not international and require mandatory confirmation.

Countries where it is easier to confirm a doctor's diploma

If you are going to leave for another country and get a job in a hospital, the first thing to do is to think about the length of your stay in the chosen state. If moving to a permanent place of residence is not expected, it is better to give preference to countries that offer a simplified nostrification procedure.

Czech

One of the most loyal countries in relation to the confirmation of a doctor's diploma. According to the standard recognition procedure, a visiting specialist must complete qualification courses. At the same time, he submits his diploma for confirmation. Consideration of the issue can take up to 1 year.

After completing the courses and passing the exams, the applicant gets the opportunity to work on a trial period. The practical part of the confirmation lasts 6 months. During this period, the doctor receives a minimum salary. After the end of the term, the status of a doctor is officially assigned and allows you to work fully.

Yemen

A republic where the demand for medical specialties is invariably very high, and the nostrification procedure is fast. To work as a doctor in Yemen, you do not need to prove knowledge of the language. The practice license is issued without mandatory exams and with a minimum set of documents.

The main requirement is at least 5 years of experience.

Spain

It has the highest demand for Russian-speaking doctors. The diploma confirmation procedure is similar to the Czech one. After completing language courses - a probationary period of 6 months and the possibility of full-fledged practice. No exams are required. After the formal confirmation of the diploma, a Russian doctor can work in the same way as local specialists.

For employment in any of the described countries, work experience of at least 3 years is required.

Countries with a complex nostrification procedure

Those who want to emigrate to Europe or America will have to go through a more complex diploma confirmation procedure. In European countries, this requires at least 4 years.

Germany

12 months after submitting the diploma for confirmation and successfully passing the exams, the doctor is offered to go through the "pull-up" stage. It usually lasts a year. It is assumed that during this period the specialist will fill the gaps in knowledge and experience. Such work is paid minimum.

After passing the "pull-up" the specialist is expected to pass exams. Further, he is issued a temporary work permit, which must be confirmed every 2 years. Temporary permission allows you to obtain the position of physician assistant (clinical resident).

Regardless of experience and knowledge, independent practice for a visiting doctor is impossible without obtaining a permanent work permit. To be able to take the position of a specialist doctor, after completing the residency, you need to pass another exam in the specialty and confirm your knowledge german language.

To work as a doctor in Portugal, you also need to prove your qualifications.

This can be done in two ways:

  • pass the equivalent;
  • receive confirmation of the diploma.

The procedures are not too long, but they have a high level of complexity. When passing the equivalent, you need to get the full curriculum from the university that issued the diploma.

This program is served in any medical school Portugal to the corresponding faculty. Experts compare the received material with their own and pass a verdict on the coincidence or non-coincidence of the programs.

They usually don't match. In this case, the applicant is offered to master the missing disciplines together with local students. After that, the visiting specialist becomes a full-fledged student of the university and receives a Portuguese diploma with all its advantages.

Upon confirmation of the diploma, it is necessary to undergo retraining and pass the mandatory exams:

  • knowledge of the language;
  • theory of medicine;
  • practical test.

When passing practical test the correctness of the diagnoses and the adequacy of the prescribed treatment are checked. The confirmation times differ for different specialties.

America

In order to be able to work as a doctor in the United States, a specialist who has a diploma from another state must complete a residency after confirming the diploma. In fact, this is retraining in the existing specialty.

The duration of the residency depends on the specialty of the doctor, but not less than 3 years.

How long does retraining take:

  • pediatrics - 3 years;
  • radiology - 4 years;
  • therapy - 3 years;
  • neurosurgery - 6 years;
  • anesthesiology - 4 years;
  • general surgery - 5 years.

After completing the internship, another year is given for theoretical scientific work... Further, upon successful passing of the exams, the specialist can either get a job in any clinic in the USA, or open a private practice.

Canada

To confirm the diploma in Canada, the applicant must complete training in any of the local medical schools. They are open throughout the country on the basis of large universities. Tuition is paid, the cost depends on the chosen specialty and is regulated by the management educational institution... The number of study places is limited, scholarships are not provided. Despite this, the competition for training is very large.

In order to receive a permanent work permit after retraining, which gives the right to full-fledged practice, the applicant will need to continue his studies in residency and obtain Canadian citizenship.

Africa

The best working conditions are in the countries of the former British colony. South Africa is invariably the most attractive for foreign doctors. High level wages ensures a steady flow of emigrants who want to get a job there.

Working for doctors in Britain

Work for doctors in Britain. Medical practice

Most doctors in the UK work in the hospital system, family health center or government medicine. Some find work at universities, teaching students or doing scientific research. There is close cooperation between universities and hospitals.
Medical training in the UK is designed to meet the needs of the NHS and may differ in duration and structure from similar systems in other countries. This structure is currently undergoing significant changes.

Special training

Special training is divided into two parts - general professional and basic special. During their studies, doctors work in the NHS system. Upon receiving such registration, doctors become SHOs (see Glossary). This title is usually given - for two or three years, and is one of the levels of general vocational training. At this time, preparations are underway for exams to various royal colleges according to specialization. This is the usual condition for moving to a higher level, which is called specialist registrar (SpR)grade. The training programs for this level differ depending on the specialty, and preparation can take from 4 to 6 years.
During specialized training, all doctors are invited to scientific programs to understand the methodology scientific research... Many receive diplomas or degrees, but this is not a prerequisite getting a higher position. It is up to the college concerned to decide whether time spent on research is defended against specialized training.

Consultants

Not an educational and the highest post in the hospital's graduation. Counselors are fully responsible for their patients and for training and educational custody of doctors in lower positions in their teams. By law, everyone entering such a post must be registered in a special register of the Medical Council (GMC).

Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

Permanent prof. training is a process of continuous professional development to maintain professional knowledge in accordance with the latest scientific achievements.

Where to begin?

registration
Before you can work in a UK clinic or write prescriptions, you must obtain a medical registration. The registration process is different for foreign specialists.

There are four different types of registration:

Conditional
Limited
Full
Special

Conditional registration is given to doctors educated in the UK to work one year after graduation before receiving full registration.
Limited registration entitles foreign doctors to work in the NHS system at educational posts (PRHO, SHO, GP registrar (England only), specialist registrar). The limited registration will be canceled shortly, after which doctors from abroad will immediately receive either full or conditional registration.
Full registration entitles you to work in any position in the NHS without the supervision of a superior colleague. Full registration is required for doctors wishing to work as family doctors.
Special registration allows doctors to work without superior supervision in both the public and private sectors.

Medical license for the right to practice medicine

The Medical Council is changing the registration system for doctors. Currently, every doctor who is eligible to practice in the UK is registered with the medical register. This system is undergoing revision, every doctor entered in such a register will receive a medical license.
The license will be general in nature, without specifying specialization. Also, it will not have any restrictions or conditions. Any restrictions or conditions will be entered in the register, which is currently the case.

Registration for doctors from countries outside the European Union

Doctors whose qualifications are listed on the World Health Organization WHO's list of recognized medical schools are eligible for registration with the Medical Council. This requires demonstrating objective evidence that the doctor has the necessary knowledge and skills to work in the UK healthcare system. The doctor must have an appropriate primary qualification as well as medical experience or completed internship for at least 12 months. Also, the successful passing of two tests is usually required: the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) and the Professional and Linguistic Assessment Board (PLAB). First, doctors receive a limited registration for 12-18 months, which is then renewed. Limited registrations can be renewed for 5 years. However, it is possible to apply for full registration during this time. For this, a prerequisite is at least 12 months of work as a SHO or registrar.

Alternative way to obtain medical registration

Obtaining registration without passing a medical exam is possible in one of the four options below:

1) for doctors who have received the opportunity of post-qualification training in one of the royal medical colleges.
2) for doctors who pass a basic exam in their specialty with a score that satisfies the relevant medical school in their specialty (for example, parts 1 and 2 of the MRCP exam).
3)
for doctors who have received the post of specialist registrar.

4) for doctors applying for specialized registration on the recommendation of the relevant committee for specialized training based on qualifications obtained abroad.

The specifics of the work of foreign doctors includes frequent practices and specializations in various clinics around the world. Every doctor knows that the same manipulation is carried out in different ways, not only in different states, but also in neighboring clinics. Different approaches to diagnosis and interpretation of analyzes, prescription of treatment and patient management necessitate a constant exchange of knowledge and experience.
In our time, it is impossible to become a world-class doctor without knowledge of European and British medicine in particular. No matter what specialty you work in, 2-4 weeks of internship at an English hospital will help you not only learn new treatment methods, get to know your colleagues, but also integrate into the global healthcare system.

Internship in Britain is a big step forward on the career ladder, new patients and their gratitude, knowledge that you can pass on to your colleagues, and no matter what level of English language you possess, for a doctor will always understand a doctor (Latin unites us all). British clinics are waiting for you for a practice called "Attachment doctor".
The second offer of British clinics: you can come to work as a doctor and receive a salary.
Helpful Hint: In order to work as a doctor in Britain, foreign doctors are required to obtain a license. We advise you not to trust companies that offer you to find work in the UK without first obtaining a license.
To obtain a license, it is very important to submit documents correctly and pass the initial registration. It is at this stage that it is decided whether you should take the exam and what level you will be awarded. Our organization helps in this process.

After that, two options are possible:

1. Your experience was recognized and given a work permit (wages from £ 48,000 per year). In this case, you just have to take the IELTS test (see our special section).
2. You have been assigned an exam. In this case, you take IELTS and PLAB (see our special section on tests, where we provide special preparatory material for preparation).

We are ready to help you at any stage and answer all your questions. WE WISH YOU SUCCESS!

Benefits of working in the United Kingdom

What is so attractive for Russians to work in Great Britain in general and in England in particular? The main advantages of employment in the island state:

  1. Employment in one of the world's strongest economies.
  2. The ability to apply for permanent residence after 5 years of stay on a work visa. And in the long term - to become a citizen of the country and get a British passport.
  3. Low unemployment rates.
  4. Stable growth in the employment of migrants.
  5. High salaries.
  6. Social benefits.
  7. Legal labor safety.
  8. The solution of labor conflicts is strictly according to the law.

Obeying the laws

It is important to remember that a law-enforcing power requires the same of its citizens. Foreign workers must strictly adhere to all visa regulations. Chief among them:

  • To live and work strictly within the framework of the received work visa.
  • If the entry document does not give the right to work (for example, a tourist or visitor visa), this condition must be adhered to.
  • After the expiration of the visa, you must:
  • Or leave the country immediately.
  • Or roll over the document.
  • Or, if allowed, apply for permanent residence.

The latest Brexit developments are likely to affect the UK labor market. For example, the kingdom is considering employing EU citizens only with a work permit. More importantly, in the decade after the referendum on the country's exit from the European Union, the real income of citizens is expected to decline. The most severe damage is expected to affect the working population. Pensioners, on the other hand, will be more effectively protected from the upcoming layoffs.

People who have a medical degree will never be left without work abroad. It is clear that in order to get a normal job, have your own practice or work in a public / private hospital in a particular country of the world, you will have to go through not only the nostrification procedure, but also learn the language, pass special exams, and confirm your qualifications.

But all these efforts pay off very quickly, since it is prestigious and profitable to work as a doctor abroad. There are always vacancies, you just have to set a goal and look. First of all, you should decide why you need it. This will require answering questions such as:

  1. It's a job to make a decent living over a period of time;
  2. Working as a doctor can become permanent and provoke emigration to the chosen country;
  3. Acquisition of practical skills and exchange of experience;
  4. Hotspot work, etc.

Then you need to make a list of knowledge and skills, write a resume, ask colleagues for recommendations, assess knowledge foreign language, translate diplomas and certificates into English or another language. If the problem is in knowing the language, then it is worth enrolling in courses in a year and a half, where you can quickly and efficiently improve your vocabulary and speaking skills.
You can consult with friends or read special forums on how to properly look for a job as a doctor abroad.

Vacancies in this profession are searched for by familiar and traditional methods - using the services of various companies, contacting the employer directly, posting a resume on special sites, traveling at the invitation of a friend or a specific company / hospital.

Should you trust intermediaries

If you use the services of firms that are looking for work for doctors abroad, then you need to be very careful, attentive, check everything thoroughly.
You need to entrust your documents, pay money to those companies that have positive reviews in this area, experience in the selection of medical personnel, communication with potential employers, etc. It is worth abandoning the services of intermediary firms if they ask for an advance payment for the provision of services.

The resume should be drawn up according to the requirements of the country where the specialist dreams of going. For EU countries, for example, there is a single CV template called EUpass. There are filling rules on the Internet, where you can see filling samples.

For Asian and American countries, the conditions for compiling a resume should be found out in each medical institution. It is important to attach two or three letters of recommendation from specialists in a particular field of medicine to your CV.

Where do doctors look for work abroad?

Despite the fact that doctors are in demand everywhere and always, it is worth knowing the countries where work for doctors abroad will be 100% guaranteed. But before leaving, you must study the requirements for each country separately.

Everywhere a confirmation of the diploma is required, but in some countries this is done quickly, while in others the process can be lengthy.

If you have to wait, then you should get a job in a related position, and then move to another vacancy.
Quite often, doctors simply have to retrain, which can take several years. Russian doctors are always welcome in countries such as:

  • Finland, which is considered prestigious for doctors, but foreigners will have to make a lot of effort to get the desired job;
  • Many doctors from Russia and post-Soviet countries go to where they pay well and have a chance to improve their practical skills and gain professional experience. Although here working conditions are far from ideal, and are very different from European and American;
  • The countries of Europe, Canada, the United States of America are chosen by those who want to gain professional experience, knowledge in a narrower field, improve the spoken language, meet colleagues from other countries, attend conferences and seminars;
  • Most of the experts who are excellent launch pad in order to start a medical career abroad;
  • In the UK, medical requirements are very high;
  • Australia;
  • France;
  • Italy;
  • Baltic countries;
  • Countries of the Scandinavian Peninsula, in particular Denmark and Sweden;
  • Spain;
  • Germany;
  • Czech;
  • Croatia;
  • Slovakia;
  • Netherlands.

British hospitals will need up to 3,500 new doctors a year to cope with the shortage.

An analysis conducted by the Global Future think tank has shown that currently every eleventh medical institution in the healthcare sector faces a growing shortage of doctors. It is estimated that over the next 10 years, the British healthcare system will have to attract thousands of new doctors and nurses.

It is estimated that the UK may need up to 20,000 additional medical staff by 2027.

The report reveals the extent to which the NHS relies on workers from overseas, as well as how the situation could get worse after Brexit, as the UK appears to be unable to attract the European staff it needs so badly.

The Global Future study found that up to 45% of a range of key medical specialties, including cardiothoracic surgeons, pediatric cardiologists and neurosurgeons, now come from outside the UK.

Peter Starkings, director of the Global Future Center, said their research shows that without continued immigration to the UK, the NHS will not be able to function in its current form.

Labor Party member Liz Kendall, who wrote part of the report, said that after the Brexit referendum, European health professionals are increasingly unwilling to travel to the UK. “Many of them already want to leave. It's incredible that non-European health care professionals who still want to come are rejected even when the NHS wants to give them jobs, ”Kendall added.

She also stated that the next few months are critical. "Unless the government takes urgent action to stop the drain of NHS personnel to Europe and to ensure that healthcare professionals with the skills the NHS needs are welcome in Britain, healthcare waiting lists will be even longer and patients will suffer," Kendall said. ...

Global Future also wants Theresa May to abandon her goal of reducing net migration to below 100,000. She is required to ensure that the free movement of medical workers from the EU after the UK leaves the bloc will not be threatened.

According to Global Future, healthcare workers recruited from overseas to fill NHS vacancies should not be subject to a minimum income requirement, as there are cases where doctors with job offers have been denied entry to the UK for this reason.
