Russia from Kaliningrad to Kamchatka. Photo contest "The most beautiful country"

The "Most Beautiful Country" photo competition of the Russian Geographical Society is dedicated to the preservation of the wild nature of Russia and fostering respect for the environment through the art of photography.

The competition started in June 2015, and since 2016 it has become an annual competition.

From April 18 to August 1, 2016, the acceptance of works is carried out, after which the qualifying round of the competition will take place in August, and the final is scheduled for September. The solemn ceremony of awarding the winners of the photo competition will take place within the framework of the Prize of the Russian Geographical Society at the end of 2016. Anyone can take part in the creative competition, regardless of age and place of residence.

The jury of the competition, like last year, will include famous public figures, famous photographers and art workers. Among them are the President of the Russian Geographical Society Sergey Shoigu, the famous Russian wildlife photographer Sergey Gorshkov, the jury also includes the head of Channel One Konstantin Ernst, the general director of the Moscow Kremlin Museums Elena Gagarina, director Timur Bekmambetov and the winner of the first photo contest "The Most Beautiful Country" in the category "Animals "Ivan Kislov. The perfect storm on Lake Baikal. At the very end of November and in December, the strongest storms are on Lake Baikal. Several winds can blow at one moment. Last year, I watched myself how in the north of Olkhon the North-West (or, as it is also called, Sarma, Gornaya) blew from the Maloye Sea, accelerating along the Uzur valley and pulling out in a separate stream into the Khaga-Yaman Bay. Behind Cape Izhimey, Kultuk was powerfully pulling low clouds, tearing the low-flying clouds to shreds. In the Big Sea, opposite Olkhon, the water was boiling and bubbling. A wave was moving into the bay in dense formation. One by one. And every ninth rolled ashore almost to half of the pebble beach. All clothes and the cell were covered with a thin layer of ice from water spray, which was quickly seized by a 25-degree frost. But it was impossible to tear yourself away from this sight. The power of Baikal was mesmerizing. The rhythmic roar of the waves, the howling of the wind and the drumbeat of stones rolled by the surf created polyphony that put you into a trance. One could listen to this symphony for hours, forgetting about the cold and piercing wind. This lasted for two days. On the third day, the wind died down ... Sparkling ice in Altai. Middle Multinskoe Lake, end of November. An amazing place - the lake emits eerie groans at night, it seems that it is alive. And the air bubbles frozen in the ice create the feeling of frozen champagne. The people who submitted their work are from different parts of the planet. This suggests that all these people, wherever they live, consider Russia the most beautiful. And they considered it necessary to send the most beautiful photographs of the most wonderful places and take part in this competition. Beauties from Kizhi and Tuvan shepherds, as if from paintings by Renaissance artists. It seems that they feel a connection with wild nature much stronger than with civilization, due to which the most beautiful places in the country are often in danger. Deforestation, poaching, man-made disasters. Photos are an attempt to draw attention and a call to protect nature.

Canon EOS R Test: Revolution or Development

For Canon photography aficionados, the wait for the EOS R mirrorless system has been a long and arduous one. Over the past few years, the question was not even what the first full-frame Canon mirrorless camera will be, but whether it will be at all. The successful relaunch of the EOS M line with the very successful M5 and M6 models, the inexpensive and popular M50, gave hope for the imminent arrival of an older system camera. And here she is in front of us.

Nikon Z7 test. Came to accelerate evolution ...

Mirrorless cameras have come to stay, take over the world and change it. To deny that the focus of users - professionals and amateurs - as well as the market has shifted towards mirrorless cameras is just plain silly. And it's strange that the most recent ones to introduce their mirrorless full-frame cameras are the heavyweights of the industry. At the end of 2018, Nikon launched its first full-frame mirrorless cameras under the loud slogan Mirrorlessre invented.

Fujinon XF 80 mm f / 2.8 LM OIS WR Macro lens: first among its own

Wait! Finally, the owners of the Fujifilm X system have received a full-fledged macro lens and for half a year now they are quite happy about this, because before they got by with only a "half-breed": the Fujinon XF 1: 260 mm f / 2.4 R Macro macro lens, released back in 2012. Why "half-breed"? It's very simple: the zoom scale of this macro lens is only 1: 2 (one to two!), Which looked rather strange for the top series of Fuji mirrorless cameras.

Nikon D850 SLR camera test: is it all? Start loving her right now ...

It is pointless to argue that at one time the Nikon D800 was not just an outstanding camera, but a breakthrough camera on the scale of the entire photographic equipment market. It would seem that everyone has already forgotten about the megapixel race, and here - a gigantic resolution packed into a 35-millimeter sensor. Landscape painters began to massively switch to eight hundred, studio photographers too. The D800E released in parallel brought some confusion. Which camera works better, why do we need a moire filter, if it's only better without it, how adequate is the difference in quality to the price difference.

Review of the lens Fujinon XF 80mm f / 2.8 R LM OIS WR Macro

There are not many reviews and quite a few tests on the Fujinon XF 80mm f / 2.8 R LM OIS WR Macro lens so far, so I decided to fix the situation, especially since macro lenses are my element and I use them all the time. The new Fujinon XF 80mm f / 2.8 R LM OIS WR Macro essentially opens up the whole direction of macro photography in the FUJIFILM X-mount line. It is the first 1: 1 macro lens of this format with the most convenient focal length for most situations. Prior to that, the X-mount system had the XF 60mm f / 2.4 macro, which gave a scale of only 1: 2. Anything can be considered "macro", but in fact 1: 1 is optimal for any more or less demanding macrophotographers. It is difficult to shoot something unusual on a smaller scale. And there was a ZEISS Touit 50 / 2.8 at a scale of 1: 1, but not very convenient in field macro due to the fact that a scale of 1: 1 it reached the focusing distance at 0.15 m.

Practice of Dmitry Kupratsevich. Night portrait

Portrait is a very popular genre in photography. And, perhaps, there are no photographers who have not taken portraits at least once in their lives. It is also a difficult genre, it has a lot of nuances that depend on the type of portrait. For example, it is difficult to compare business and child portraits. All species have basically one similarity - people are in the frame. But the background, clothing, the choice of models and work with them also depend on the type. And if it comes to psychology, it’s time to write a whole encyclopedia of shooting.
