Technique of stage speech.

    Event

It is important to teach the child not only to speak, but to speak competently, clearly and clearly. This requires a stage speech teacher.

Perhaps many parents will begin to ask questions, but why torment the child, leading to classes in stage speech, if in the future the baby does not plan to go to the theater school? This is an absolutely false assumption. Stage speech training allows the child to develop language, lips and voice. Without noticing it, he will begin to control his speech. The words he utters will be clear and understandable. Surrounding people do not have to ask again several times.

Many people breathe incorrectly, and this distorts the sound of the voice. Listen to others, someone speaks squeakily, someone speaks loudly, and someone barely audibly speaks the words. The stage teacher will be able to teach them how to breathe correctly, and a pleasant and melodious voice will be formed from the correct supply and reception of air. In the future, this will affect the communication of the child in any team, if he can always correctly and clearly communicate. Confidence in the voice will give confidence in his further actions.

Try a little test for yourself:

  1. Invite a person who has a quiet and monotonous voice, and a person with a velvet and firm.
  2. Listen to their speech.
  3. Draw conclusions, who would you trust more?

Practice acting and stage lessons for children

Classes are usually held in mini groups or individually. Thanks to this, the child ceases to be constrained and is not afraid of the public, which is very important in communicating with people and revealing their own "I".

The lessons of theatrical art go along with the lessons in stage speech, since both of these skills are interconnected in their functionality. In the classroom, the child will be able to learn how to completely relax, this will help him further cope with stress, freely express his thoughts in front of an audience.

An individual approach to learning allows you to concentrate on the rapidly developing potential of the child.

In addition, in our theater classes we teach plastic. Thanks to plastic, grace in movements and flexibility develop.

How are classes in mini groups?

Classes are held in a fun way. Under the guidance of teachers and without parents. With the help of musical and creative games, they develop hearing, memory, and a sense of rhythm. Outdoor games, rhythm, breathing exercises. Articulation gymnastics, speech therapy nursery rhymes, songs, rhymes that promote the development of speech and articulation apparatus. Games in a fairy tale: the children, together with the teacher, discuss all the fairy-tale characters, distribute roles and create a small sketch.

And also finger paints, sand, dough, plasticine, clay, paper, rice, peas, semolina, natural material, construction from three-dimensional and flat figures, lacing, clothespins and much more. In our life, nothing passes without a trace, it will be useful to the child in the future. After all, everyone knows that the more a person knows and knows how, the higher he is appreciated by others.

Our children are a product of our upbringing, so we can add classes with a stage speech and acting teacher to the entire set (classes at school, additional classes with tutors in mathematics, dancing, drawing). In any case, this practice will never be superfluous for your child!

The theater is considered a model, keeper of traditions and a school of literary language. For a long time, the norm of speech in the Russian language was the pronunciation of actors of the Moscow Art Theater. And the point here is not “correctness” or “particularity”, but the long and painstaking work that is required for the development of stage speech. The transition from the usual “everyday speech” to the stage with its expressive sound is not such a simple task as it seems at first glance. In this article we will try to come to an understanding of what stage speech is, what is its role for actors and people of other professions, what techniques and exercises for setting and developing stage speech exist.

What is stage speech?

Today, stage speech is an important component of all training programs without exception. This is one of the professional means of expressing the actor. Stage speech is also a means of theatrical embodiment of a dramatic work. Through speech skill, the actor conveys to the viewer the inner world, social, psychological, national, everyday character traits of the character. For this, the artist needs to thoroughly master the technique, which is associated with sonority, flexibility, volume of voice, development of breathing, clarity and clarity of pronunciation (diction), intonational expressiveness.

The style and character of stage speech have passed the formation period from antiquity to the present day. On this path, they changed their form and content, developing and improving. So, the skill of stage speech was honed even in Ancient Greece by speakers and actors. Probably the most famous example is the study of Demosthenes. Exercising eloquence, he devoted a lot of time to classes, but spoke slurredly, for which he was constantly ridiculed by his counterparts and ordinary listeners. Completely desperate, he turned for advice to a friend - a famous theater actor. The latter read before Demosthenes an excerpt from the work of Sophocles so expressively and vividly that he understood that not only speech was important, but also pronunciation, timbre and voice power. Unfortunately, Demosthenes did not possess these qualities: he had a weak voice, he lisped and breathed intermittently.

The speaker began to work on his shortcomings. He made speeches while standing on the edge of a cliff by the sea, overcoming the sound of waves and gusts of wind. Demosthenes held small stones in his mouth, uttered long phrases and whole sentences without inhaling. For several months he went down to the cave and talked there, listening to his voice. Classes yielded results - today we are talking about Demosthenes as the greatest orator of the ancient world.

Speaking of modern theater, we mean the heyday of realistic art, which is mainly associated with the Russian theater, and such names as M. S. Schepkin, A. N. Ostrovsky, K. S. Stanislavsky. In the system developed by the latter for the actor’s work on the role, helping the actor to reveal not only the meaning of the text, but also the subtext of the words spoken, capture, convince partners and spectators with “verbal action”.

KS Stanislavsky said: "The word is the most concrete exponent of human thought." The great playwright devoted three expressions to the expression of this word in the second volume “”: singing and diction; speech and its laws; tempo rhythm. Below we have collected exercises, both on the basis of the recommendations of Stanislavsky and other techniques and methods that will help to deliver and develop stage speech.

Attending various seminars, conferences, classes (lectures at the university and lessons at school), you probably paid attention to such an interesting fact: you literally want to sleep at some events - both the topic is boring and the lecturer's voice is monotonously soothing. On others, everything is diametrically opposed - an unquenching interest for hours and a rich speaker. Most often the reason for this is not the semantic content of the information, but the way it is presented. A story without emotions, monotonous muttering “under the nose”, lack of intonation can ruin any performance. The way a person speaks, sometimes becomes an additional motivation to listen to him and deal with him. This is an important communication skill, not only for stage artists, but also for many whose field of employment is related to communication, training, and sales.

The development of stage speech technique implies primarily work on the voice. The voice is a complex phenomenon in which certain muscle groups and the psychophysical apparatus of a person are involved. The sound of the voice depends on the breathing, and the physical condition of the person, so speech training involves a complex of diverse exercises. This is a work on staging breathing, articulation, sounding, diction.

Breathing exercises

One of the most important skills in this block is to practice inspiration through the nose instead of the usual “gasping” of air through the mouth.

  1. With an open mouth, inhale and exhale through the nose. Repeat 10 times.
  2. Hand on the stomach. We take a slow breath, counting to 4 in the mind. We exhale without delay, counting again to 4. During the exercise, it is important to feel with your hand how the stomach rises and falls. If these movements are difficult to distinguish, you should tilt the body forward, resting your hands on your lower back. On inspiration, an extension of this area should be felt. Each subsequent inhalation-exhalation we increase the count by one (5,6,7 ...).

Breastfeeding is considered optimal breathing; it needs to be developed.

  1. Starting position is standing. On inspiration, we imagine that we are smelling a flower. The exhalation is smooth, with the sound "pff", while you need to retract the stomach. Inhale is short, exhale is long.
  2. The classic exercise. It is necessary to inhale, and as you exhale, in one breath, say a long phrase.

Articulation Exercises

Articulation is the totality of the work of individual pronunciation organs in the formation of speech sounds. The better developed articulation and articulation apparatus, the more distinctly and clearly a person speaks.

When performing exercises for articulation, you should start with the usual pronunciation of sounds. First vowels (singular Y, Y, I, O, E, A, Y, E, Z, Y, then in a bunch of Y - Y - Y - Y; Y - Y - I - I; Y - Y - O - O ; U - U - A - A), then - consonants (P, B, T, D, X, K, G, N, M, F, B, L, R, H, C, S, W, U, S, G; hard and soft separately), complete with combinations of vowels and consonants according to the type: KA - KU - KE - KO - KI. During training, sounds need to be pronounced stronger and brighter than in everyday speech.

Pronunciation of tongue twisters very well develops articulation. They must be spoken in a whisper and more slowly, gradually increasing strength and speed. Here are some examples:

  1. There is pop on the pile, a cap on the priest, a pile on the priest, pop under the cap.
  2. Got the bean bean.
  3. Prokop came - boiled dill, left Prokop - boiled dill.
  4. From the clatter of hooves dust flies across the field.
  5. Karl stole corals from Klara, and Klara stole the clarinet from Karl.
  6. About love, didn’t you kindly pray me, and beckon me into raspberries?

Sound exercises

Sounding - tonality, range, intonation.

  1. Read the verse this way: the first line is loud, the second is quiet.
  2. Practice the pronunciation of the usual phrase, putting in it shades of different feelings: sadness, joy, reproach, anger, passion, surprise.
  3. Pronounce the neutral phrase with the voices of different animals, according to your idea. Even better is a dialogue.

Diction Exercises

Diction is also well developed by tongue twisters. In addition, there are other exercises.

  1. Standing - standing, hands on chest. Inhale, as you exhale, slowly begin to lean forward, while pronouncing the vowels "y" and "o" for a long and long, as low a voice as you can.
  2. The rigidity of the speech apparatus helps to overcome the pronunciation of difficult combinations: VZVA, LBLBAL, FSTRA, etc.
  3. You can read any text with closed mouth.

These are far from all possible exercises, but performing them will improve your skills over time.

Test your knowledge

If you want to test your knowledge on the topic of this lesson, you can take a short test consisting of several questions. In each question, only 1 option can be correct. After you select one of the options, the system automatically proceeds to the next question. The points you receive are affected by the correctness of your answers and the time spent on completing. Please note that the questions are different each time, and the options are mixed.

With the help of a word, a person expresses his thoughts, which means that if his speech is confused, does that mean that he has a mess in his head? So? Not really, but just such an impression is born about the speaker of his interlocutor. Some people simply cannot speak beautifully, although their inner world is very rich. There can be many reasons for such a nuisance: embarrassment and complexes, impaired diction, unpleasant sound of a voice, quiet or loud sound, repulsive manner of narration (tediousness, imposition, ill-will, gloom).

If at the first meeting it will be enough for you to say general phrases, talk about anything, laugh a joke or smile sweetly, then at subsequent meetings this will not be enough. They will expect from you the depth of thought, the substantiveness of the topic of conversation, the breadth of horizons, interesting presentation, versatility of views. There has also been a trend in the demand for poetry reading to the opposite sex. Many young people learn huge fragments of Shakespeare's literary works in order to subdue them by reading their companion. “Flavored” with acting skills, romantic lines conquer from the first sound.

Voice and speech lessons in Moscow

In this and many other cases, stage speech classes will be useful. Even the speakers of the ancient world were trained in the technique of speech in the most extreme conditions. They rehearsed, standing on the edge of a cliff, shouting the sound of waves and the cries of seagulls. All aristocrats learned beautiful speech. Now the ability to speak competently and beautifully has ceased to be a supernatural gift. It’s just a necessity if you want to be successful, so we highly recommend language performance training courses in Moscow for 8 lessons!

Every day we need to prepare presentations, speak at meetings, communicate with clients and colleagues. Therefore, classes and lessons in the stage technique of speech do not seem like such a whim of the “bourgeois”. Residents of the capital are excitedly looking for voice and speech courses in Moscow.

Speech and voice training

Relying on the fact that the audience is more responsive to how you say than what, and seeing how the speaker’s monotonous voice lulls some of the speeches, the work on the voice is primarily the basis of public speaking trainings.

But here it is not so simple. The fact is that the sound of the voice depends on the breathing, articulation and even the psycho-emotional background of the speaker. Public speech and oratory is comprehended through the study of how sound is produced, how to articulate, how to breathe. This is daily work on the voice, speaking tongue twisters and performing special acting exercises. This work for independent study is not simple, therefore, stage speech courses in Moscow are so in demand.

Teachers note that recently many students have been dealing with the problem of quick speech. Its reason lies in the speaker’s excitement, sometimes it is perceived as a desire to close the topic rather or outright lies. Also, fast speech is very difficult to understand, it quickly tires and repels.

On the courses of voice and speech techniques do not rush to the result. It should be understood that this work is painstaking, regular and there are a lot of exercises. At the master classes you will learn about the existence of separate exercises for breathing, diction, articulation, and sound.

Learning rhetoric begins with the basics: with the rules for constructing speech, its preparation, conduct and answers to questions about it. Thanks to practical lessons on the stage, you will gain confidence and it will be easier for you to speak to strangers.

Many are afraid of public speaking due to subsequent sensitive issues. It should be remembered that only a question to which you do not know the answer can lead you into a dead end, so get ready for public speaking. Come up with answers to all the questions and accusations that may come down on you and then you will be able to worry a lot less before going out to the public.

Art of speech, rhetoric and oratory   help you make new acquaintances, get to know more influential people, climb the career ladder, stand out among colleagues, become the soul of a campaign.

High culture of speech and oratory obeys only those who are not afraid to try and make mistakes. More in theater acting classes   public speaking, the faster you learn to speak beautifully, and the manner of acting on the stage is freer and more attractive.

Go for it: water does not flow under a lying stone!

Stage speech is one of the leading expressive means of any actor, and people involved in theater or cinema, can and should even practice the basic exercises in stage speech every day. But today we would not like to talk about speech on the stage. And about what techniques and exercises for stage speech should be used by a "simple" person.

Tongue Twisters

Tongue twisters are a tool for honing diction and articulation. Simply put, with their help you can improve the clarity of pronunciation of sounds, strengthen the unity of your phrases, and in general - pull the logic of your speech. “Sing a thought,” - said the great actor and director K.S. Stanislavsky, bearing in mind that speech should be coherent, cohesive and clear. So, tongue twisters will allow you to solve the tasks. Here are some of the best quality tongue twisters:

Cook Peter, Cook Paul

Peter peck, and Paul soared,

Pavel soared, Peter peck,

Cook Paul, Cook Peter.

And another one:

From the clatter of hooves

Dust flies through the field.

In the yard is grass

Firewood on the grass

Firewood in the yard

Firewood deep into the yard,

Do not accommodate a yard of firewood,

It is necessary to expel firewood

To the wood yard

When pronouncing tongue twisters it is necessary:

- do not rush, try to speak slowly, saying every sound,

- try to speak together (without pauses and hesitations),

- try to speak out loud.

Sound Exercise

As the name implies, such exercises are designed to enhance the volume (sonority) of your speech. It depends on how your diaphragm works. The diaphragm is a muscle located at the level of your abdomen, the contraction of which determines how much you hear. You can find her work if you put your hand on your stomach and laugh. The strength of the trembling of your abdomen with laughter will be diagnosed by your hand.

How to train a diaphragm? There are several exercises for this:

  1. Put your hand on your stomach and draw in as much air as possible so that your stomach pouts. Next, begin to slowly pull the sounds "a", "o" on the exhale. “And”, “y” (alternately, of course). It is very important that your chin is raised, and your eyes are fixed on a point located on the opposite wall or object, just above your crown. Of course, the point should be imaginary.

It is advisable to “pull” each sound for at least 7 seconds.

  1. After you master the stage speech exercise described above, proceed to the next. Now - it is necessary to alternate the above sounds on the same exhale. That is, to pull not one sound, and more to happen, "aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa-oooooooooooooooo-iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii-uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu".

Each sound on a single exhale - should be delayed for about 3 seconds.

  1. After mastering the first two exercises - you should do the so-called "sound accents." This is a quick amplification and acceleration of sound at the end, with its final “sending” to an imaginary point. For example, take the sound “a”. We begin to pull it slowly, then we gradually accelerate and amplify the sound, bring the sound to the maximum and, as it were, “spit it out”. With a sound message, your stomach should contract strongly and quickly, as your hand lying on it will show.

3-4 seconds must elapse from the moment the sound starts to the moment of sound sending.

Remember that if during exercises on the diaphragm your throat begins to hurt or sore, it means that the main sound load you have so far is on the throat ligaments, and this is a mistake. Then try to sound a little quieter so that the ligaments are comfortable. As you can see, stage speech exercises need to be done periodically monitoring your condition and not overstraining at the initial stage.

Articulation gymnastics

Tongue twisters and diaphragm exercises should be preceded by an articulation workout. We list some of her exercises:

  • "Smile-tube." Stretch your lips as wide as possible (to make it look like an unnatural smile, but you can’t open your lips), and then quickly collect them into a tube (as with a kiss). This exercise needs to be done quickly for at least 1 minute,
  • "Spear language." Press the tip of your tongue into one of the cheeks and push the cheek as far as possible from the inside. Then - the same thing needs to be done with the other cheek. Alternate quickly. The duration of this exercise is also 1 minute,
  • "Chatterbox". Open your mouth and chat your tongue up and down so that the tongue touches the upper and lower lips alternately. You get a sound, something like "rla-rla-rla". It is important to relax your tongue and rotate it quickly. This exercise is worth doing from 30 seconds to a minute.

Beginners will find this exercise quite difficult: for some people already at the 15th second they begin to “reduce their tongue”. If this is your case, start from 10-15 seconds, but gradually increase the time,

  • "dumb". Roll your lips inward so that only a slit of the mouth is visible on your face. Press lightly on your lips, squeezing your mouth (but not to the pain). And then, as if, “spit out” your lips back. This exercise should also be performed a minute,
  • Grimaces. Go to the mirror and build yourself the five scariest and funniest "faces". Try to make sure that all the muscles of the face are maximally involved in the grimace.

Good luck with the techniques and exercises for stage speech! And if you want to practice stage speech exercises under the guidance of experienced professionals - you
