Where to start self-development or why do not those who "develop" develop? The development of mental abilities in adults: exercises and recommendations.

The ability to concentrate on small details, navigate the flow of information, instantly respond to a change of scenery and quickly make effective decisions are important skills that help businessmen achieve their goals. And in order to develop such business qualities and pump your mind, you need to regularly do special exercises for the brain, the so-called fitness for the head!

In the same way as muscles atrophy without physical activity, the human brain weakens without various mental activities. And vice versa, the more you train it, the more nerve connections are formed in it, and the higher the brain activity, the more oxygen enriched blood enters it. And on this, in fact, depends on the intellectual health of a person.

In order for the brain to function efficiently, it is important to specifically activate the growth of nerve connections with the help of new experiences. During the period of study at school, university, the amount of new information allowed to train the brain stably. But for an adult, in whose life and work routine processes predominate, in order to keep the intellect in good shape, one has to resort to stimulation
  using special exercises for brain development. Therefore, it is so important to learn how to solve typical problems using non-standard methods.

Improving memory and brain function: the best exercises

To begin with, it is important to note that in order to properly pump the brain and develop the flexibility of the mind, it is important to pay attention to nutrition, habits and lifestyle in general. Fresh air, healthy sleep, physical activity and healthy food have not been canceled yet. Therefore, in order to achieve the desired result, it is necessary first of all to pay attention to these important factors.

Effective brain training - these are exercises that are aimed at developing memory, mindfulness, as well as separately the right and left hemispheres of the brain.

The main specialization of the left hemisphere is logical thinking. It is also responsible for such important abilities:

  • language and speech;
  • logic, analysis;
  • literal understanding of words;
  • mathematical abilities;
  • sequential information processing.

The left hemisphere also controls the movements of the right half of the body, and the right - for the left.

In turn, the right hemisphere is responsible for intuition and creativity, and also performs the functions of:

  • processing non-verbal information;
  • orientation in space;
  • musicality;
  • recognition of metaphorical meanings;
  • imagination, artistic ability;
  • emotions;
  • parallel processing of information;
  • face recognition.

So, how to develop the right brain? These exercises will help you strengthen your intuition and creativity.

Mirror painting

Take a large sheet of paper and a pencil in each hand. Start drawing the same shapes at the same time with your right and left hand. At first it can be circles, loops, squares. Over time, the task needs to be complicated - to depict full-fledged pictures with both hands.

The restoration of reality in the imagination

A key moment in the development of the right hemisphere of the brain is visualization exercises. It is important to connect the imagination, visual, auditory and olfactory memory. To get started, get rid of extraneous irritants and close your eyes. Remember a person you are familiar with: facial features, hair and eye color. After you create his face in the imagination, try to restore from memory the sound of the voice and the smell of perfume. Work out the image as detailed as possible.

When you learn to restore the images of people, you need to move on, creating in fantasy a whole parallel reality. Such a set of exercises great develops creativity, creative vision, imagination.

Random words

The essence of the exercise is to select a few completely random words and relate them using a story. At first it will be difficult for you, and to connect these words, you need a couple of long sentences. But during training, you can link seemingly unrelated words with just a couple of phrases.

In addition, creative thinking can be developed by drawing a mandala. The intricate pattern of all the colors of the rainbow perfectly calms the nerves, focuses and develops artistic perception.

Speaking about training the left hemisphere of the brain, first of all, we mean solving mathematical problems, crosswords, puzzles, as well as logic games such as chess. It is important to note that precisely
  the left hemisphere dominates most people. Therefore, it does not make sense to develop it separately. In this case, it is better to apply complex exercises for the brain of an adult.

Neuroscience

This is such a charge for the brain with exercises that include all five senses at once. The technique was developed by the American neuroscientist L. Katz. The bottom line is: all ordinary things need to be done in an unusual way for you. For example:

  • to move around the house with eyes closed;
  • write with your left hand (if you're right-handed);
  • change the usual route;
  • inhale and savor the aroma of food, flowers, perfumes;
  • identify things by touch (for example, coin denomination);
  • perform unfamiliar work;
  • answer non-standard answers to usual questions, etc.

Unusual actions, sensations, smells, atmosphere provoke the emergence of new neural connections, which, in turn, helps the development of intellectual abilities.

Colored words

Useful exercises for the brain or exercise for mindfulness. It helps to increase the level of concentration, improves attention, develops both hemispheres of the brain.

So, your task is to quickly name the color of the words. At first glance, everything is simple, but try to do it as quickly as possible, and the left hemisphere will immediately begin to concentrate on words, confusing you. You need to synchronize the work of both hemispheres.

Alphabet

This exercise is for the development of thinking, attention and improving performance. In addition, the Alphabet helps relieve emotional stress and restart the brain.

The work is as follows. Under each letter there is a mark - L, P, B. “L” means that you need to raise your left hand, “P” - right, “B” - both hands. You need to simultaneously pronounce the letter of the alphabet and perform the movement marked under the letter.

The first part of the exercise is to go from A to Z. In the second part - from Z to A.

Illogical chain

This is a test exercise to train your brain and memory. Look closely at the word list for 90 seconds. A little tip: pair the words and try to connect them using visual associations.

Try to reproduce all the words in order. If you can’t, then write on the sheet all the words that you remember. Now let's count: from 15 to 20 words - your memory is well developed. 10-14 words - the average result. Less than 10 - you absolutely do not know how to use memory.

Perform these simple exercises for the brain, and soon you will notice a qualitative improvement in the work of both hemispheres, memory and thinking.

Instead of a conclusion

To train the mind, it is enough to do routine things in unusual ways, perform new actions, read more, play intellectual games. A great way to develop thinking flexibility is to learn foreign languages \u200b\u200band practice music. This encourages the brain to actively produce new neural connections, which means to work actively and efficiently.

To systematize classes on improving mental health, you can use special online services that offer dozens of different exercises, tasks, and tests to develop thinking.

Write in the comments what useful exercises for the brain do you know? Share your experience with us!

Only a schoolboy is afraid of being known as too clever (what if they start to tease a nerd?). Adults understand: there is not too much intelligence.

If there was a magic wand that allows you to instantly improve your thinking and pump erudition, it would instantly become a bestseller.

Can I develop intelligence in adulthood?

There is an opinion that one should “grow wiser” in youth: they say, exchanging the third dozen, a person reaches his ceiling; then there remains one task - to hold on to occupied positions.

In the recent past, even scientists have shared this view.

Theorists and researchers have previously argued that intellectual ability reaches its maximum at the age of about 20 years, but now it is obvious that this conclusion is based on a misinterpretation of the limited research data available at that time.

Observations that were carried out in the 20th century using the longitudinal method (that is, long-term experiments) showed that after graduation, a person has more than real chances to increase his own intellectual level.

“But what about physiological changes?”, Readers will ask. Psychomotor reactions in a young guy are likely to proceed much faster than his grandfather.

The fact is that the efficiency of the mind not reduced to biological potentialnervous system.

R. Kettel and D. Horn distinguished two types of intelligence - “fluid” and “crystallized”. Flowing - these are basic abilities that allow you to learn new things (remembering, perceiving the connections between objects, etc.). He tends to weaken with age. Crystallized intelligence - the accumulated amount of knowledge and experience - builds up over the years and compensates for the decreasing speed of thinking.

With speed, fortunately, everything is also not so primitive.

A person who constantly practices intellectual skills, processing multifaceted information by various methods, does not become less trained. He simultaneously manages to maintain clarity of thought and operate on the accumulated baggage of ready-made data.

Great discoveries - especially in the humanitarian sphere - were made not by 20-year-olds, but by 40-50 or even 70-year-old scientists.

Inspirational example. The famous physiologist I.P. Pavlov died at 86 years old. A year before his death (!), He mentioned in a letter to I.Maykov: “Until now, I have not admitted changes in the distribution and size of my studies.” Even in the last hours of his life, the academician managed to surprise his colleagues. Already forgetting the words, he excitedly repeated: “Excuse me, but this is the cortex, this is the cortex, this is the swelling of the cortex!” As it turned out later, the diagnosis was absolutely correct.

Some people think that they support intelligence at work. However, many types of mental work associated with the execution of the same type of operations, which is also gradually being brought to automatism.

For the development of the mind, it is necessary to use intellectual capabilities to the maximum - for example, doing self-training.

Intellectual exercises

I do not want to disappoint the readers who opened the page in the search for special exercises for the development of intelligence. Such puzzles exist, they are published in whole books.

Here are examples from a popular book. Tom Wudgeck's Mind Training   (published in 2011).

In the chapter on   workout with words   Woodzhek recommends reading:

  • phrases in which letters are written in reverse order;
  • statements recorded without spaces;
  • sentences from a literary text - and then, without looking, repeat them in order from the last word to the first;
  • printed text on a flipped sheet.
  • “Alphabetical order”: temporarily write down as many words as possible in which the letters coincide with the alphabetical “direction” (the ray - “l” is before “y”, and “y” is before “h”);
  • “Through letter”: name the letter and think of which account it should be; quickly recall the maximum number of suitable words ("w", the third from the beginning: cat, cup, tails, etc.);
  • “Duplets”: take two words with the same number of letters and build a chain from one to another, replacing one of the letters in each link and using only nouns in the nominative case, singular (turn “goat” into “cake”: goat - bark - court - cake; try to catch the "fish" in the "net" yourself or turn the "feather" into "mascara");
  • "Anagrams": make words only by rearranging the letters (it is better to play with the ready-made sources - murmur, bedbug, mouse, carriage, ash, herd).

To develop mathematical abilities, Woodzhek suggests performing   exercises with numbers   - pronounce numerical sequences:

  • from 1 to 100 and from 100 to 1;
  • with increase or decrease by 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9;
  • with increasing and decreasing in turn - for example, by 2: 2 - 100, 4 - 98, 6 - 96, 8 - 94, etc.

I advise you to search more games in the book “Develop intelligence: exercises for development, memory, intelligence and intelligence” (C. Philip, Moscow, Astrel, 2003). Retelling fragments from it is inconvenient, since many tasks will be incomprehensible without illustrations.

All this is very exciting and great, but to be honest, I doubt that you will become a giant of thought only through such exercises. We need more serious workloads - for example, self-study.

Study, study and study

Take online math courses or just work through a school math textbook, and you will improve the corresponding thinking much more significantly than when counting from one to a hundred and vice versa. Similarly with other areas of knowledge that matter to you. There are materials (see), would be the right attitude.

If you want to become more savvy and improve your memory as a whole, learn some language yourself; it really helps. The Scottish scientist Thomas Buck conducted the study using the longitudinality method, which I mentioned at the beginning of the article. Dr. Buck determined the IQ level of a group of people first in 1947 (the participants in the experiment were 11 years old), then in 2008-2010 (“Learning a second language in adulthood can slow brain aging”, “The Telegraph”, 2.06.2014).

It turned out that by the age of seventy people who had studied any foreign language usually remained in good intellectual shape. One caveat: the effect was noted when knowledge was acquired not for the sake of knowledge, but for active use, and did not lie in the memory of a dead weight.

Give preference to the language in which you intend to at least occasionally communicate, read, listen to shows, watch movies.

Here you will find practical tips for self-learning English:

No strength for regular classes? Well, play doublet and anagram in the evenings, and on What? Where? When? ”Or“ Intelligent People. ” In "Reasonable People" and "ChGK" success is not so much rich erudition as flexibility of thinking.

Physical education for the mind

Physical activity, it turns out, is very conducive to intellectual.

A.F. Akhmetshina, N.P. Gerasimov (Kazan National Research Technical University named after AN Tupolev, Naberezhnye Chelny Branch, article “Connection of physical education and sports with the development of intelligence”, conference materials “Modern problems of physical culture and sports: retrospective, reality and future”) write, what exercise has an effect   for development:

  • attention;
  • observation;
  • speed considerations, etc.

Improving cognitive skills contributes to good health (problems with blood supply to the brain, which occur in many diseases, greatly complicate mental processes). This time.

Intensive movement requires both muscle tension and the application of intellectual effort. These are two.

And what, the more you train, the better? Not.

In the article “The influence of physical exercises on the body and the intellectual abilities of a person” (E. N. Kurganova, I. V. Panina, Oryol State University named after I. S. Turgenev, materials “Science 2020”) we read:

An interesting fact is proved that the connection is established only between the intellect and the general indicator of a person’s physical form. It is not connected with sports achievements, exhausting trainings, leading to overwork. Mental and cognitive abilities are developed to a greater extent in a person who regularly engages in physical exercises, but does not set himself the goal of achieving high sports results.

The body's resources are limited. Excessive training does not tone up, but exhausts.

How to increase erudition?

Since you have decided to increase the level of intelligence, think at the same time how to develop your horizons. An adult is constantly pestering things, but if he wants, he will be able to allocate half an hour a day for cognitive rest.

Read non-fiction books and science news. Watch documentaries - from them it is easy to absorb information through a combination of visual and auditory perception. Do not go in cycles in the hunt for purely factual information: fresh emotions also teach you to think more broadly, for example, those that classical music gives (see?)

But - important tip - grow in areas that are for you interesting and / or useful.

It’s pointless to grab everything at once: to become a real scholar in the 21st century, you will literally have to live in books twenty-four hours a day. And in the end it turns out that Yandex and Google are still an order of magnitude smarter than you.

Which of us did not dream of possessing a high level of erudition and flashing your mind? And in various life situations, for most of us, oh, how would additional knowledge help us to get out of the water, help a colleague, friend, do the right thing, make the right choice, etc. In all areas of our lives, it is important to be not only smart, but also wise. Therefore, it is very important to know how to develop your intelligence and learn the best exercises and advice of experienced psychologists.

Is it possible to develop your intelligence

Some mistakenly believe that intelligence is an innate component of man. And it is impossible to develop it. This is not entirely true. Yes, there are people who simply have a certain barrier to mental development and simply cannot jump above it. But these include those who have a congenital brain defect, mental retardation, insanity, and other diseases associated with intelligence. In the case of innate intelligence, it can be developed using various mathematical puzzles, puzzles, and other techniques.

Sometimes, it is not necessary to do anything at all, since genius itself finds ways of manifestation. Let us recall the great physicists — Einstein, Curie, Joffe, and others. It cannot be said that in those years physical and mathematical sciences were widespread. But it is worth noting immediately that these are isolated cases on which you should not rely too much. That is, based on the foregoing, it can be understood that congenitality is not always the main way to gain high intelligence.

Myths about intelligence

There is an opinion that in the presence of innate intelligence, there is no sense in doing anything else for its growth and development. As we already know, there have been and are cases of genius, but they are very rare. Therefore, one cannot rely only on a natural gift, it is important to work on your mental abilities, to train them. But even in cases with geniuses, one cannot completely discard the factor of upbringing, development in a certain environment, conditions that have developed in a unique tandem with the human genome and become the reason for his genius in the future. But that is not all.

We are in a hurry to dispel the myths that it is impossible to increase the level of intelligence in a mature person if you did not work on his abilities in childhood and adolescence. We categorically object, since everything is possible in this life! Each of us, including our dear readers, can grow to the level of, if not a genius, then an intelligent and erudite person, in whatever environment he was brought up before.

Remember the work of Bernard Shaw, "My Fair Lady." Young Miss Eliza Doolittle was an ordinary flower seller in a poor quarter, and, accordingly, behaved like her entourage. She spoke rudely, swearing, was groomed. In short, a commonplace lumpen.

The ingenious specialist in languages \u200b\u200bHenry Higgins, having met her, was simply stunned. And he argued with his friend about what he could make a high-born lady out of a slut and a rude woman with all the appropriate manners in a few weeks. And what do you think, he succeeded. He simply created all the conditions for the girl’s inner potential to find a way out and showed itself in all its glory.

We can all succeed in any field. To do this, you need to work, communicate with those who stimulate mental development, to show their own willpower, scrupulousness.

The next fallacy is to be brilliant, does not mean to be smart in everything. That is, unlike those who must educate and develop their abilities, there is a type of people who are already confident in their mental perfection. They believe that if they have achieved success, for example, in mathematics, physics, then there is no need to pull up other branches of science and do not even need to gain wisdom when communicating with people.

This is the danger that few of the "wise men" know about. Here is a simple example for you: a person who understands perfectly in mathematical theories. Able in the mind to calculate the division or multiplication of multi-digit numbers. But it may be confused when meeting a new person, with difficulty assessing his actions.

Or vice versa, an excellent philologist, philosopher capable of giving wise advice on different occasions. May get confused when calculating change in the store. These are all extremes that interfere with the quality of life. Agree, it is much better to be harmonious, to develop abilities in all sectors and not to forget to gain new knowledge in terms of overall development.

What does an unbalanced development of intelligence look like? The process can be easily seen with muscle pumping as an example. If a bodybuilder pays attention to one and does not engage in others at all, then his figure will turn into something laughable. Therefore, to obtain a beautiful body shape, you need to deal with all muscle groups, and regularly, without stopping. And our intelligence also needs to be constantly evolving without interruption. An inquiring mind cannot “live” without another dose of interesting, fascinating information.

We reveal the secrets of the development of intelligence

We often come across books, online articles on how to quickly become brilliant and, having taken a “unique” course, we understand that nothing comes of this venture. That is, the advertised someone's work was simply a dummy. Why are we surprised? All those who seek easy ways will receive nothing. In order to achieve something, you need to make an effort, will, try, concentrate your attention on it. After all, we do not believe in the power of one pill that can cure all ailments at once.

If you want to develop the activity of your brain - work on it constantly. Load it with mental tasks, and they should be complex, versatile. It’s like a health issue. If you want to have it, go in for sports, load the body with active actions. And what usually prevents us from getting rid of addictions, playing sports.

Yes, it is directly related to our thinking process. We are lazy to think, read, study, watch. It is easier for us to feel in the body of a unicellular infusoria, which simply grinds everything that enters it. But she does not benefit from this. So we are - if we do not continually replenish the piggy bank of our knowledge, we will stop at the level of a primitive person, a first grader with an insignificant baggage of knowledge.

When we make efforts, we use our will to regularly search for interesting information, read, watch, study, we strengthen our character, cultivate a sense of discipline.

What types of intelligence exist

In the matter of mental abilities, it should be noted that everyone has their own intelligence, since there are a number of its varieties. By the way, they can be distinguished from childhood on the manner of communication, the interests of the child, his hobbies, thoughts, reasonings.

  1. Analytical.   The ability to analyze, compare, compare information, divide it into logical blocks, identify the relationship.
  2. Logical.   A person is capable of reasoning, thinking and analysis, without violating formal logic. This type has the ability to draw logical, correct conclusions in the appropriate sequence.
  3. Critical.   When receiving information, a person criticizes it, evaluates it, and easily sifts out all that is superfluous, unnecessary, and wrong. This is how a natural, pure opinion develops.
  4. Deductive.   A person fishes out separate, necessary information from the total volume, flow and can perfectly formulate it. This type can generalize, find patterns in the relationship of different information and group into one.
  5. Predictive.   Talent to plan, warn, shape future events in thoughts and at the same time keep in mind various options for solving a particular problem.
  6. Abstract thinking.   A person can delve into the most complicated abstract processes, more often it concerns mathematical, philosophical problems. These are ingenious personalities capable of holding the most complicated mathematical formulas and processes in their heads. They can quickly count the addition, multiplication and division of billions in seconds.
  7. Creative thinking.   A person knows how to compare things of different importance from different sciences, quickly bring them to a common denominator. People are able to create, formulate various kinds of metaphors, decipher complex ideas and reduce them to a simplified level for easier understanding.
  8. The ability to concentrate.   This moment is more likely to apply to those who have great will and discipline, although it would hardly have been possible without intelligence.

The human mind also has certain properties:

  1. The logic of architecture: each has a different degree of orderliness of his thinking. Someone reasoned soberly, all thoughts are in "order", while others have a chaotic, incoherent, chaotic mind.
  2. Latitude, depth of the human mind: the level of "intelligence" of a person depends on this moment. If he is able to more broadly and more deeply grasp the question, task, object of thinking, then he is more intelligent.
  3. The speed of mental operations. Here, perhaps, everything is clear. The faster a person thinks, the higher his speed of thinking.
  4. Autonomy of thinking. Some people can think perfectly regardless of the impact of external interference factors. They are always calm, especially at the moment when you need to make the right decision, create an idea and bring it to life.
  5. Excellent RAM: we are talking about our memory. The better it is, the more information we can keep in our heads and use it at the right time. People with a good memory can read poems by heart, retell books, multiply billions in their heads, divide them, formulate formulas.

So, we have studied the basic components of the human mind, which can be developed, increase their level. There are many methods for this, among which there are the most common in accordance with their effectiveness.

The best methods for developing intelligence at any age

We all understand that intelligence is a very important quality for the quality life of every person. Without it, it is impossible to graduate from a school, university, get a profitable job and grow up the career ladder. If you have an intellectual problem, grasp “the mind.” Improve your level using the methods we offer.

Start playing chess

Many consider this sport (universally recognized) a boring pastime, but this is a big mistake. You try it first, and then it will already speak. The fact is that initially, while a person has no skills, the process really goes on monotonously, boringly. But as soon as the skills develop, it will be impossible to tear your ears from the chessboard.

The game develops all the qualities of the human mind:

  • logic
  • ability to predict;
  • abstract oneself;
  • give an assessment;
  • analyze every move;
  • think deductively, figuratively.

During the rounds, players fully analyze and evaluate the actions of their opponent, think in a precise and generalized way. In short, all aspects of our thinking are drawn into the process.

If you do not know how to compete in chess, then this does not matter. Unlike in previous years, when only boring textbooks and books were used as a guide, you can now use chess simulators, video courses, and online games at various venues. So it will be not only informative, but also exciting, interesting.

You will eventually have to join the game and create combinations, build moves. There will come a time when having learned to play with a robot, you can easily cope with a friend who considered himself a chess ass. And of course, your logic, autonomy of thinking, the ability to abstract oneself and other points will help in other areas of life.

Poker - a mathematical card game

We censure those who are keen on poker online. But do not rush to conclusions. A card game of poker is a chain of logical reasoning, constructing moves, the ability to predict the opponent’s move and other nuances that stimulate the development of human intelligence.

Moreover, the rounds force a person to "pull himself together" and not to show his nervousness, self-doubt. It is necessary to judge soberly, restraintly and learn to wait, not to act on impulse, not to show your emotions.

Puzzles, puzzles, crosswords

We often spend our leisure time in various kinds of transcripts, puzzles, guessing words in crosswords, we are fond of reading puzzles and other entertaining tasks. All this is work for our mind.

First, we improve our memory by guessing words in crosswords. Secondly, decoding puzzles develops our logic, the ability to think abstractly and autonomously, to learn forecasting. On the Internet there are a huge number of portals, where you can choose from millions of puzzles, puzzles and other developmental tasks.

Tearing patterns

The life of almost every one of us consists of the same actions. We get up at the same time, wash ourselves, drink coffee and go along the same road to work and study. So our brain stops working, we do not need to think about how to find the way to the office, which tram to take. Everything is brought to an automatic execution of actions. And as we know, if for a long time something is not used, then this thing spoils, a moment of stagnation arises.

The same is with our mental abilities. They must constantly "work", otherwise we risk degrading prematurely. And if we break these patterns, our brain is immediately included in the active process. Strong new connections appear between neurons, on which our intellect also depends.

How to fix it - bring in the normal mode, actions during the day something new. For example, do not go to work already on a proven track. Change the route, go through other yards. Or, instead of starting a working day with a familiar cup of coffee, buy juice. For lunch, instead of sausages, eat steamed vegetables. In the morning, instead of soaking longer in bed, go for a run. You will not have time to fix the moment when your mental abilities begin to show themselves again.

Sign up for dancing, become more active

Do not immediately be indignant and believe that nothing depends on the dances. You are not right. The work of the brain directly depends on the degree of blood circulation. If it is low, then oxygen starvation occurs, not only cells but also neurons die, their ligaments atrophy.

If you don’t want to just run, jump, get bored with jogging, sign up for dance courses. Latin American styles are especially suitable: tango, baccarat, cha-cha-cha and others. Some experts, by contrast, recommend doing sports dancing. In any case, everything is useful.

Movements will allow the body to receive a huge portion of energy, and mental abilities will grow and grow due to the excellent supply of oxygen to the brain tissue. But that is not all. Active dance moves, whether we like it or not, make us constantly think. This means that the brain is in an active state and intelligence is developing.

Draw

Creative activities will certainly “shake” your brain and intelligence will be replenished with new knowledge. During drawing, the most distant sections are activated, are involved in the process of thinking, and if you continue classes, do not stop, then the degree of intelligence will increase. Of course, no one talks about what you need to create as Bryullov or Savrasov. But, as you know, almost everyone likes to draw, but most are embarrassed by their “doodles”. And it is in vain! Draw on your health and do not be afraid of criticism.

Learn

This is one of the best methods for developing your own intelligence - to learn new things, not to stop there. You graduated from high school, but this does not mean that you can relax. Soak up the information every day. Open sites with interesting publications, news, take an interest in the life of famous people, new types of hobbies, books. Read before bedtime. Even if you are tired and want to fall asleep faster, a well-deserved dream, but a couple of pages of a book before going to bed will allow you to increase intelligence and relax the nervous system.

Print

There is a great way to “kill” two birds with one stone - to develop intellectual abilities and at the same time make good money. It is called copyright, rewrite. Remote work, allowing you to build a schedule at your discretion, lack of bosses. What could be better for those who do not have the opportunity to devote more time to new knowledge.

Work on the largest exchanges and select the topics thanks to which you will learn new things. Working with texts requires a number of points thanks to which your mind will never relax. Reading, analysis of the proposed topics, information search, work, re-reading, choosing the best option, removing unnecessary and fixing.

Copywriting and rewriting must be done so that the network does not have the same text, that is, uniqueness is important. But do not be afraid of it, it will be, if you write the work with interest and desire. However, this is a great way to tighten your literacy, because all text programs indicate grammatical, punctuation and other types of errors.

Go in for sports, move

This is not to say that physical activity directly affects our intellectual abilities. But with active movements, pull-ups, push-ups, our brain produces neutrotropes - proteins that are responsible for the growth and development of key cell neurons in the human brain. Classes should be carried out as an additional method of improving your intelligence.

Have a rest

Everyone needs a rest, our brain is no exception. Take a break from unnecessary information, because even its absorption requires a measure. We are not talking about being lazy - this is completely different. Just sometimes don’t think about anything. Listen to music, watch the sunset, waves, fire and clear your thoughts of all the negative.

Yoga

Engage in oriental practices, it especially helps to clear the mind and body of everything superfluous and gain new yoga knowledge. The complex has exercises for cleansing blood vessels. This is a special breathing technique, thanks to which all corners of our body will be released from toxins and toxins. During, our body receives a lot of positive emotions, complete relaxation and knowledge.

Classes consist of 7 chakras, each of which is intended for a certain part of the body. In addition to the fact that the philosophy of yoga is an amazing complex that allows you to become the center of the universe, to be wiser and more restrained, your health condition is also improving.

So, we have studied a number of ways to improve our intelligence. As you can see, there is nothing complicated about this. Only one thing is needed from us - the desire to be wise, intellectually developed and healthy. And as we understand, these three components without each other are not able to manifest themselves in a person. Everything works in a complex. So study, improve and be healthy!

Bye everyone.
Sincerely, Vyacheslav.

The makings of intelligence are given to us at birth, the habit of using mental abilities is inculcated by parents and teachers, and the desire to develop intelligence depends on each individual.

Modern science says that a person’s mental abilities are 50% dependent on a genetic factor, that is, half of the intelligence potential is laid by parents - this is a character type, a set of neurons, neurotransmitters. At the age of 5, the child has already formed a set of neurons and connections between them, most of which will remain with him for life. And then much depends on how his parents will develop him, and when he grows up, he will himself.

The goal of many people who want is to fully realize their abilities and their potential. And the surest way to achieve this goal is not to stop working on improving your intelligence. Anyone who will actively work on the development of their mental abilities will be able to radically change themselves intellectually in a year.

So how do you get your brain to work at full strength? Indeed, in our world, where competition reigns, it is not the strongest that wins, but the most intelligent, enterprising and resourceful.

Enhance your mental abilities is not a problem - it would be desire and patience. Of course, the second, or we are unlikely to become, are exceptional nuggets. But, having engaged in self-development, we will be convinced that our brain has such capabilities that we did not even suspect.

Of course, many people would like to become a genius easily and quickly, without spending much effort. Now there are many books on the development of mental abilities, for example, Stanislav Müller “Become a genius! Secrets of superthinking ”from the series“ Psychologist to himself, ”but most people are too lazy to even read them.

For them, a magic pill like the one that by chance got the main character of the American film “Areas of Darkness” (2011) with Bradley Cooper in the title role would be the way out. Thanks to this pill, the brain of a loser writer from New York begins to work with incredible power, and the depressed hero turns into a brilliant stock player with great prospects. But without a pill he’s nobody. In addition, it turned out that wonderful pills that improve brain function have a serious side effect.

Although the hero finds a way out of the difficult situation in which he has fallen, we better be guided by common sense and do exercises for the development of intelligence. For the brain to work, it needs to be loaded, but the exercises should be interesting, not monotonous. Otherwise, we will subconsciously avoid them while practicing. And exercises will only give results when they become a habit.

What is IQ?

In 1912, the German psychologist Wilhelm Stern introduced the concept of "intelligence coefficient" - IQ. It is determined using various tests with tasks of increasing complexity. The average value is 100. A value of 70 qualifies as mental retardation.

By intelligence is meant not the amount of knowledge accumulated by a person, but his ability to remember and analyze new information, as well as be able to use it to solve subsequent problems.

American Andrea Kushevsky is a medical consultant and specialist in the field of behavioral therapy. She works with autistic children with cognitive impairment. One of her first patients was a boy with mental retardation: his IQ indicated a slight mental retardation. After three years of teaching reading, mathematics, playing skills, and communication according to the methodology developed by her, his IQ was 100. The same successes in the development of intelligence were observed in other children with cognitive impairments with whom classes were held.

Consequently, if children with learning difficulties can develop rapidly, then the average person who does not have such problems, as they say, has cards in hand.

Andrea Kushevsky made the following conclusions:

  • the intellect is amenable to training;
  • the more you train him, the better the result;
  • to develop intelligence under the power of everyone, regardless of the level of his initial abilities.

We develop mental abilities

1. We are looking for innovations

All geniuses are usually scholars - people with great knowledge in many areas of life. For example, he was not only a talented artist, but also a writer, musician, scientist and inventor.

People who seek to develop their intellect must be open to everything new: knowledge, activity, events. Indeed, each new activity contributes to the formation of new connections - synapses that connect one neuron to the others and through which they exchange impulses.

The production of dopamine, a neurotransmitter hormone that stimulates the formation of new neurons and helps increase motivation, also directly depends on the innovations that trigger this process.

Anyone who wants to have a high coefficient of intelligence should not assume that having graduated from a university, you can forever forget about studying, because this is a direct path to degradation. Therefore, we do not stop looking for new food for the mind: we study new sciences, new languages, enroll in courses - for example, painting, playing the guitar, Latin American dances, engage in a new sport, go on a journey for new experiences.

The value for the development of mental abilities is not so much knowledge itself as the learning process itself.

2. Challenging ourselves

Much has been said about the benefits of brain development games that train memory and concentration: poker, preference, chess, backgammon, computer games like Tetris, Sudoku.

True, psychologists involved in the development of intelligence advise, having reached mastery in one game, move on to the next. After all, the brain, having understood how to play, for example, begins to be lazy, while new synaptic connections are no longer formed so actively. In order for the brain to be loaded and to continue to work hard, you need to constantly keep it in a state of some difficulty.

3. Learning to think creatively

3.1. ability to create original ideas and think outside the box.

For example, we take a certain problem and find from 10 to 20 ways to solve it, especially without limiting our imagination. So,

  • heavy rain caught us on the street, there is no umbrella, it is far from home, and the rain is likely to last a long time;
  • we are in a hurry for an important meeting, and our heel suddenly breaks;
  • a wallet with money and credit cards has disappeared, and we are in a strange city;
  • we were invited to a party where we know no one except the hostess of the house, who was urgently called to work;

3.2. After watching a movie come up with his own name;

3.3. We open any book and write out 10 words from it at random. And now we’ll try to find a connection between them and make a short story out of them   from 10 offers;

3.4. Imagine ourselves as an architect, before which the customer set the task to design the house. The house is not simple: the project should reflect 10 words invented by the customer: fish, nut, brick, cat, water, etc. We fantasize and draw a brick house, next to it there is a walnut tree on which the cat sits and looks at the fish swimming in pond, etc .;

3.5. Choose any item you like, located in the room, and select 5 adjectives that correspond most to him. For example, an orange - juicy, Spanish, orange, tasty, sweet. And 5 adjectives that are least suitable for him: feline, sharp, shawl, grassy, \u200b\u200bcloudy;

3.6. On a piece of paper draw 20 crosses   and on the basis of each of them we depict an object that tells us our imagination: for example, a mill, a pan, a dragonfly, a chessboard. Instead of crosses, you can draw circles or two perpendicular lines as a blank for future pictures.

4. We are not looking for easy ways

Progress makes many tasks easier for us, but our brain, which is free of stress, relaxes. Take, for example, thanks to which we have successfully forgotten how to perform even the simplest arithmetic operations in the mind or on paper.

Or GPS, which helps to navigate the terrain. Accustomed to it, over time, they discover that they are no longer able to do without it, so much so they have lost their own sense of orientation.

We have been created to help and which, at the same time, worsen our knowledge of languages, since they deprive the brain of the opportunity to practice them.

Technology makes life easier, but cognitive abilities suffer, because the brain needs training. Of course, you do not need to give up the benefits of civilization and the products of modern technologies, but sometimes it’s worth letting the brain work to keep it in good shape.

“Whoever lacks sex speaks of sex, the hungry man speaks of food, the man who does not have money speaks of money, and our oligarchs and bankers speak of morality.” (Sigmund Freud)

And people whose lies to themselves and others lead them to regression and personal degradation speak of "self-development" and "personal growth." It is bad when they lie only to themselves, ten times worse when they force others to accept their lies for the truth.

There is no universally accepted and universally recognized concept of self-development (and personal growth), but there is a universal and adequate Hegelian principle of development, starting from which one can formulate what will be for a person personal development and what will not.

So, according to the fundamental principle of dialectics, development is a process of continuous resolution of contradictions between opposites, during which the latter are constantly qualitatively changing and becoming more complicated.

And what is the opposite of personality?

Another man? I beg of you.

Nature? Long gone.

Two eternal rivals

The opposite for the individual, for the "I" is one - it is "WE" or society, society. The contradiction is that society seeks to deprive a person of his freedom in order to make him obedient, predictable and controlled by the “cog” in the social system. Whereas a person, on the contrary, seeks to realize his deepest needs and develop his potential, which is impossible without freedom.

The most interesting thing is that in this confrontation, in this struggle of opposites, no one can finally win.

The victory of society is totalitarianism (remarkably shown in the Zamyatinsky dystopia “WE”), which means stagnation with subsequent degradation and annihilation.

The victory of the individual is the collapse of society, chaos, the death of civilization, and then the personality itself.

In other words, by definition there can be no winner in this endless battle. But the parties cannot disperse to different angles of the ring, because the forces that set in motion this movement are too deep and powerful.

The society seeks to make the individual manageable through restrictions, prohibitions, prescriptions (which are neither bad nor good, but simply contribute to the survival of society, reducing the degree of conflict within it).

An individual, being born initially free, does not want to live according to the requirements imposed on him, but wants to do (or not do) only what he himself wants. If we observe the behavior of one-year-olds, two-year-olds, and even 3-year-olds, then we will see just such a picture.

Unfortunately, the freedom of natural children's behavior is first broken through the knee by psychologically disadvantaged parents, then the same kindergarten teachers, then the school, the environment and other social institutions. As a result, a person becomes obedient and standard. A socially acceptable member of society.

But, since not all people break under the pressure of socialization (someone was lucky with their parents, someone with external circumstances), in addition to obedient people, society receives more successful, more internally free, and therefore an order or two more competitive ones. From these people at different times pioneers, pirates, travelers, conquerors, philosophers, heretics, insurgents, dissidents, divergences, inventors, revolutionaries, entrepreneurs, poets, scientists destroying traditional scientific paradigms, rebellious singers, non-conformist writers, charismatic actors and others "Youth idols" and "confusers of public deanery."

Living not like everything turned out to be risky, dangerous, but profitable.

Secret of Spiral Dynamics

Looking through the prism of Hegel's “unity and struggle of opposites” on the relationship between society and the individual, Maslow’s student, Dr. Claire Graves, noted that they are developing in a spiral, moving from level to level due to changing living conditions (his followers called this model).

And if at some moments the society wins the victory (tribal level, hierarchical level, communitarian), then sooner or later, individualists affirm their line with great or little blood (domination, rivalry, freedom and systematicity).

Actually, the development of man is taking place along this spiral, but it does not take centuries and millennia, but years and decades. Instinctively, a person strives to satisfy his needs, of which the most important are the need to be oneself (the need for inner freedom) and the need for self-realization (affirming one’s idea in the world, developing one’s potential). Usually these needs are not recognized, which, in the end, gives a person a lot of problems and inconveniences due to frankly erroneous steps and actions.

It is the satisfaction of these needs that makes up the essence and soul of self-development, since self-development is the process of a person's disclosing his potential. But it is precisely in this direction that the absolute majority of “developing” have zero levels.

Why it happens?

Let's try to figure it out.

In search of adventure: the beginning of self-development

First of all, you need to understand that self-development is not comfortable sitting with a thick ass on a soft sofa. Not at all. Self-development is a rejection of a safe, familiar, comfortable, stable-familiar state for the sake of a new, not yet mastered, unknown, full of dangers and opportunities, risks and resources.

And this is just a rejection of what our personality consists of — habits, stereotypes, inadequate (distorted and clouded) perceptions of ourselves and reality, a desire to minimize mental and physical efforts, a pathological tendency to maintain the stability of the current state. All this is our reality, our “comfort zone”.

It follows that any attempt to get out of this state, from this “comfort zone”, to change oneself threatens with a violation of the integrity and structure of our personality, loss of “soil under our feet”, i.e. sustainability and familiar patterns of response and decision making. And, therefore, it should be blocked. This is what our egoistic mind is engaged in pairing with the “Overseer” and nurtured in the process of socialization by the Overseer from society (the sum of unconscious prohibitions and prescriptions).

This is done using most effective tool of psychological self-defense - with the help of impudent, frank and shameless lies to ourselves (as Freud wrote, all that we say, we speak with the purpose of concealing the truth from ourselves). Since the recognition and acceptance of reality as it is, an honest look at objective facts makes it impossible to stay comfortably in the familiar and familiar state of stable personality decomposition (ie, the “comfort zone”) and is a threat to the current version of the personality. Therefore, any system is the first enemy of any changes in itself.

And since the lie is a universal phenomenon, then instead of real, uncomfortable and unpleasant self-development, which really changes the personality and raises its level, we have its “vanilla” imitation, which is supported by a whole galaxy of different “trainers” and “gurus”. And not because these “trainers” and “gurus” are some particularly bad people and are involved in the conspiracy, just demand creates supply. And if a goof drowning in his own lie believes that two jumps, three bangs, songs, dances and other crap contribute to his “personal growth”, then the goof will be happy with the corresponding product.

What do network users usually mean by self-development (personal growth)?

♦ reading books (99% of this is pop-demand consumer literature or clinical schizoterics)

♦ reading public in social networks

♦ meditation (usually not requiring any effort)

♦ affirmations

♦ reading protocols of a turbo gopher (or something similar)

♦ memorizing motivational quotes

♦ attend free webinars and workshops

♦ occasionally unsystematic performance of stupid exercises

♦ attempts to follow inadequate current situation general recommendations and other people's “success formulas” (such as “believe in yourself”, “go and do it!”, “Learn to earn money”, “ask the universe!”)

♦ and other nonsense of the same kind

The main reason for the popularity of this kind of imitation lies in the very nature of man, which on the spiritual level is ground by the millstones of the universal game called “Victim” (in Buddhism called Sansara). A common typological feature of any victim is a low level of responsibility and the constant dumping of all sorts of residues of this responsibility.

And since the above imitations of responsibility and serious work do not require, for the “victim” - these are the most delicious dishes.

Another reason is the dominant idea of \u200b\u200bconsumerism prevailing in society, due to which the sucker perceives everything that is in the world as an object of consumption. From these positions, trainings are also perceived not as a form of training where you need to work seriously, but as a product similar to a car service "I paid money, make me become better and more tuned." Of course, this will not work. The helicopter control program downloads as in the Matrix have not yet been invented. Therefore, goof does not go to serious trainings. Only at the “training for suckers”, after which for some time he feels “oversized” and “enlightened”, and then continues to live like he lived again.

More advanced people who consciously or implicitly understand that disclaimer is a direct way to losers, tend to choose more effective forms of working on themselves:

♦ exercise, exercise and sports, hardening, working with lifestyle;

♦ study of the emotional symptoms of problems

♦ visit to a psychologist / psychotherapist

♦ participation in trainings, courses, seminars

♦ observation of one’s thoughts, reflection, introspection;

♦ development of certain professional skills and competencies

♦ obtaining practical knowledge and their application in reality

As a rule, the general minus of such work is the complete or partial absence of any intelligible system that allows the transformation on the deepest layers of the unconscious, purposefully and as efficiently as possible.

Two ways to stop lying to yourself

Usually it’s very difficult for a person, but it’s almost impossible to understand what he is lying to himself and where exactly he is lying to himself, which drastically reduces the effectiveness of any work on himself to zero. Is there any way out of this? Yes, two!

First   - a method of using a “mirror”, that is, another person, proven over the centuries, simple as felt boots and reliable as a watch. Such a person (“leader”) should be able to professionally give feedback, take an adult position and possess the necessary process and technological arsenal in order to encourage the follower to “face the terrible truth”. The latter, of course, should be mentally prepared for this and understand that self-development is not a pleasant walk, but hard and unpleasant work to create a new version of yourself.

Second method or approach, which requires even more effort and even greater willingness to tell yourself the truth, is based on the fact that any lie to yourself leads to neurosis. And all neuroses are localized in the body in the form of clamps. The point effect on the clamp, for example, using the Rayhan massage, allows you to identify and utilize the neurotic complex and the lies generated by it.

You can try to do without massage and work out neuroses with other techniques and practices, but there is a high risk that, since the work will be carried out on a mental level, the egoistic mind, realizing the function of self-defense, will again replace the real work with imitation and endless walking in a circle “in chasing your own tail. ”

How the self-development process starts

And, of course, there must be a system in self-development. And this system should work for the most effective implementation of the right goal set by man. Such a goal has clear and understandable criteria.

♦ it is a direct implementation of a person’s life mission (mission)

♦ it is strategic, that is, it is delivered not for a year, not for two, or even for 10 years

♦ this goal is aimed only and not so much at changing a person’s position, but at changing the world (even in a very small aspect)

♦ this goal is Worthy, that is, aimed at the development of life, and the negative results associated with the goal, if inevitable, are local

♦ I sincerely want to go to this goal

The very fact of setting and regularly focusing on such a Goal will start the process of real, not "cool" self-development. Begin clipping and throwing out all that is superfluous and unnecessary. Hidden potential will begin to be released, talents, abilities and personality traits will be revealed. Important personal resources such as time, strength, energy, health will not be wasted, but will be invested in activities towards the Goal.

The process of achieving the goal will require the necessary skills and abilities, adequate to the reality of knowledge and a more advanced thinking system, which means that a person will have to work on their development.

There will be a need for other people, not for “empty” friends and girlfriends, but for associates, like-minded people, comrades with whom it will be much more comfortable, more pleasant and more interesting, but again you will have to learn to build mutually beneficial and harmonious relationships, which will require higher maturity, and also the ability to communicate, negotiate, take into account the interests and feelings of another.

All this will ask a person for daily, hourly and minute-to-minute changes, since any stopping and stomping on the spot will destroy the achieved results and throw them back. Yes, it will be a difficult life, active, intense, requiring constant “movement of the convolutions”, but at the same time it will be interesting, vibrant, truly full and harmonious. This is the notorious "life in a stream."

Indeed, development has only one alternative - this is degradation. No middle ground and third options. Either you move up, change yourself for the sake of the high Goal, or you live a relatively comfortable, stable and dull life, losing yourself, your resources and capabilities. But at the same time, you sincerely convince yourself and others that you are developing somewhere in something. Verily, there is nothing more sophisticated than a lie of a limited egoistic mind.

Self-development system

The path of self-development for everyone will be their own, of course, there are universal principles, techniques, technologies, practices, methods, but they are all just tools, and a person determines the specific content of working on himself. It’s like building a house: you can drive into a ready-made, but uncomfortable and uncomfortable house, but you can plan and build a house exclusively for yourself, for your needs and requirements. It is clear that in his house he will live much more comfortable and more pleasant.

The problem of modern time is an overabundance of information. If a hundred years ago a person could allow himself to calmly, slowly sitting with a serious book and carefully studying it, analyzing it, comparing the facts and drawing conclusions, now everything is different. Too much informational garbage, “white noise”, copy-paste, outright lies, fantasies and schizos, which are presented as truths. Throughout this mega-ocean of information, a modern person without systemic thinking, not knowing how to effectively and instantly filter information, is literally drowning, he simply does not have enough time to think and understand. As a result, he simply does not absorb the really valuable and necessary information, which is why he dooms himself to constant mistakes, gross miscalculations, and frank fakaps.

The only way out of this situation is to follow the advice of the coolest political strategist of the early twentieth century, who said that "It is impossible to solve private issues without solving general ones, you will always rest on private ones" (i.e. crap regularly). This means that in addition to setting a goal, you need to “overload” your thinking by uninstalling the “firmware” inadequate to reality and master the basic principles that help filter out info-garbage and make strategically correct decisions.

This is exactly what you need to do first of all, if you want to succeed in self-development if you really, and not "fun", to succeed.
