The novel "Doctor Zhivago" was created for many decades, but the difficult years of the war, which gave rise to the author's hope for changes in society and power, became a turning point in the work on it. He wanted to show the dramatic history of Russia in these decades.

Pasternak in Doctor Zhivago talks about the fate of a man who lived in the era of revolution. The world, its community with nature, gratitude the main character reflects in his beautiful poems. His poems are written about the innermost. In them, he will repeatedly remember his Moscow house, where his beloved was.

Life for Yuri Zhivago runs parallel to nature, you just have to be around and grasp its meaning. He is confident in the unity of man with the world and the universe. The hero is trying to find meaning in any manifestation of history, even in revolution, considering it a great and ingenious miracle of history. Each person, one way or another, becomes involved in the historical process, without losing his human personality. The heroes of the novel express their attitude to life in disputes, conversations, monologues. Dr. Zhivago thinks about creative expression, which is necessary for the realization of personality.

The main character of the novel Doctor Zhivago does not participate in events, but, despite this, he introduces, based on Christian values, an understanding of history and its purpose in it. Despite the terrifying reality portrayed in the novel, a person survives, remaining with his problems and joys.

Dr. Zhivago is torn between love for two completely different women: his wife Tone and Lara. One is a native and loving woman who bore him children and kept family comfort in the house. The other is a kind of personification of short-term happiness, it makes Yuri think about the fate of Russia. It is difficult for him to accept the inhuman cruelty of the warring parties of the Civil War, in which he is compelled to participate.

Parsnip in the book “Doctor Zhivago” shows his hero who does not agree with the cryvoduy of others and coercion of glances by force. All this is not acceptable to him, in such a turbulent atmosphere, in such a world, it is unbearable for him to live.

From the very beginning and throughout the entire Doctor Zhivago novel, the main character meets different people on his way, personifying inhuman power. Yuri Zhivago seeks peace of work and support in love. But, then he loses his strong family and connection with Lara. Everything around him becomes more petty and vulgar for him. To survive, Zhivago tries to create, but inspiration leaves him. His dreams and hopes die along with the outgoing creative forces. It kills the doctor.

The name of Boris Pasternak has long ceased to be the name of only a poet. He became the conscience and creative power of his generation. The creativity of B.L. Pasternak is the comprehension of the harmony of the world.

From the compiler:

“... Composing this collection from the poems of Boris Pasternak written in different years, we wanted to draw the attention of the reader to the single, organic character of the main content of his many years of work (1910-1960). The world was changing before his eyes, the image of which Pasternak painted, but preserving the integrity of his talent and loyalty to him, he vigilantly watched what was happening around him, not being deceived by the sovereignty of the “crackling phrase” and the lies of topicality, which reigned supremely in his mature years. ... "

The collection includes poems from the following cycles:

Life during social upheavals - revolutions and wars - simply cannot be normal. It breaks, cracking at the seams of a dream of happiness ... Especially creative, subtle, intelligent individuals suffer from this. Here's how Dr. Zhivago in the novel of the same name by Boris Pasternak. Like hundreds of thousands of people of that era ... "For the continuation of the traditions of the great Russian epic novel," the poet and prose writer became a Nobel laureate. Moreover, his romance entered. Therefore, if you are not familiar with Pasternak's prose, I recommend it.

Everything seems to be covered in this book: the search for and loss of happiness, as well as the meaning of life, the personality at the stages of its formation, flowering and withering, and life itself, is full of unexpected upheavals. Pasternak talks about all this, using lyrical poetic prose.

In the center of the novel is the filigree personality of the doctor and poet Zhivago. This man is steadily changing under the influence of revolution, war and the death of loved ones. Despite the blows of fate, he is trying to live, not to exist. But this turns out to be an unrealistically difficult goal. In the meantime ... at least not to lose your head from the killings and hunger, blood and malice that reigned in the once bright and peaceful society.

As for me, poetry for Dr. Zhivago was a means of salvation from life. Each time, creating a new verse, he seemed to make an escape from his own bitter reality. Fortunately, he had the opportunity to write, breaking away at least for a moment from the sick and wounded.

On the one hand, Yuri Zhivago was very lucky with work. She gave him enough time for creativity. And on the other hand, if you think that he had to see blood and torment every day, then, perhaps, the profession of a doctor is the worst of all possible. At least for an intellectual living in an era of revolution and war.

We see the revolution as it is - not from the point of view of red, white or some other people, but through the eyes of ordinary people who want to be left alone and allowed to live. Any violence is disgusting to them, they do not endure hatred. Yuri, Lara and Tonya - each had their own dreams. Over time, unfortunately, destroyed ...

You can’t live and not know history - not from textbooks, but from the point of view of ordinary people who once lived and survived. What was worth knowing and remembering. And especially from classical fiction.

Quotes from the book “Doctor Zhivago” Boris Pasternak

She herself was a burden to herself. She wanted to run where her eyes looked from herself.

What irreparable insignificance must be in order to play only one role in life, to occupy only one place in society, to mean only one and the same!

But he lives and does not feel.

The riddle of life, the riddle of death, the charm of genius, the charm of exposure.

She did not want to like, he thought, to be beautiful, captivating. She despises this side of the female essence and, as it were, executes herself for being so good. And this proud hostility towards himself will triple its irresistibility.

Oh, how one sometimes wants from a mediocre, sublime, hopeless human saying to the seeming silence of nature, to the hard labor of long, hard work, to the dumbness of sound sleep, true music and a numbing, heartfelt touch of quiet heart!

Over the next few days, it was discovered to what extent he was lonely. He did not blame anyone. Apparently, he himself wanted this and achieved it.
Strange faded and discolored friends. No one has their own world, their own opinions. They were much brighter in his memories. Apparently, he had overestimated them before.

I want to say that in the life of the wealthy there was, however, something unhealthy. The abyss of the superfluous. Extra furniture and extra rooms in the house, extra subtleties of feelings, extra expressions.

Oh, with what power, how astutely they feel in childhood, for the first time!

When thoughts are already confused, you blurt out something that just pecks out your eyes.

Russia, 10.2.1890 - 05.30.1960 A great Russian poet, classic of Russian and world literature. Born on January 29 (February 10), 1890 in Moscow in the family of artist L. O. Pasternak and pianist R.I. Kaufman. The house often gathered musicians, artists, writers, among the guests were L.N. Tolstoy, N.N. Ge, A.N. Scriabin, V.A. Serov. The atmosphere of the parental home determined the deep rootedness of Pasternak's work in the cultural tradition and at the same time accustomed him to perceive art as everyday painstaking work. As a child, Pasternak studied painting, then in 1903-08. seriously preparing for a composer career, in 1909-13. studied at the philosophical department of the historical and philological faculty of Moscow University, in 1912 spent one semester at the University of Marburg in Germany, where he listened to the lectures of the philosopher G. Cohen. After graduation, he was engaged in almost only literary activity, but professional musical and philosophical preparation in many respects predetermined the features of the Pasternak art world. Pasternak's first steps in literature were marked by his orientation towards symbolist poets A. Bely, A. A. Block, Vyach. I. Ivanova and I.F. Annensky. He participated in Moscow Symbolist literary and philosophical circles, in 1914 he entered the futuristic group of the Centrifuge. Since the early 1920s Pasternak became one of the most prominent figures in Soviet poetry, his influence is palpable in the work of so many younger contemporary poets P.G. Antokolsky, N.A. Zabolotsky, N.S. Tikhonova, A.A. Tarkovsky and K.M. Simonova. Since the mid-1930s and until the very end of life, one of Pasternak's main literary pursuits was translation. He translated modern and classical Georgian poetry, the tragedies and sonnets of Shakespeare, Faust Goethe and many other works. As a result of his work, Pasternak considered the novel Dr. Zhivago, on which he worked from 1946 to 1955. Pasternak was denied a publication of the novel in his homeland. He handed it over to an Italian publisher for publication, and in 1957 Dr. Zhivago appeared in Italian; Russian, English, French, German, and Swedish editions soon followed (published in the USSR only in 1988). In 1958, Pasternak was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature for outstanding achievements in modern lyric poetry and in the traditional field of great Russian prose, which was perceived in the USSR as a purely political action. A campaign of persecution of the poet launched on the pages of the press, Pasternak was expelled from the Writers' Union, he was threatened with expulsion from the country, and even a criminal case was opened on charges of treason. All this forced Pasternak to refuse the Nobel Prize (a diploma and a medal were awarded to his son in 1989). Boris Pasternak died on May 30, 1960.

The novel of Boris Pasternak “Doctor Zhivago” became a book of the writer’s whole life. He brought him fame, but at the same time, the writer was persecuted because of him. He was accused of betraying his homeland, expressing his opinion in the book regarding the October Revolution and further events in the country, and the authorities did not like his views.

This novel touches on many vital issues: the search for happiness and the meaning of life, the search for oneself in this world, injustice and hope for the best, the influence of strict rules on the life of society and the fate of each person individually and, of course, social and political upheaval. The book is considered one of those works that everyone should read. Sometimes it is much more important to know the story not from textbooks that obey certain requirements, but to see everything through the eyes of people who lived at that time.

The protagonist of the novel by his example reflects the views of the entire Russian intelligentsia from the beginning to the 40s of the 20th century. The story begins with a description of Yuri’s childhood. He was left an orphan early. His mother died, and his father left the family before her death. Even when he was just a boy, his talent was already noticeable - Yuri wrote beautiful poems. However, he decided to connect his life with the profession of a doctor following the example of his stepfather, but he did not leave creativity. Perhaps it helped him to distract from the complexities of life, which he had seen a lot.

Yuri became Doctor Zhivago and was talented in his field. Together with other heroes of the novel, they have to go through wars, revolutions, repressions, exile, arrests and captivity. They are forced to adapt to a social system that they do not like. However, they must somehow fight. However, not everyone has the strength to do this, and people give up under pressure from the authorities. Only Doctor Zhivago retains his humanity, and difficult situations only prompt him to display the best qualities. Despite the injustice of this world, he treats others with kindness and compassion.
