WHY ARE WE GOING TO SPACE?
A strange question, but try to answer it. Just answer without fantasies about the Martians and the inhabitants of the Venusian marshes, without reasoning about the time when it will become crowded on Earth ... We can and should fantasize, but now we have a different task.
According to the latest science within the solar system, we will not find any brothers in mind, nor a second homeland, adapted for human existence. However, other stars and star systems remain. But the flight to them, if realized, is very soon. Why, almost every day, from various earth continents rockets with satellites take off into space?
How many years has man lived on earth? More than a million. And for most of this time, people were firmly convinced: “Earth is the whole world!” The sun, stars, the moon were created to make the Earth better. Better to whom? Of course, to man. Because, as long as man knew little, everything seemed to him that he was the most important in nature. So, however, and now sometimes it happens, only not with all of humanity, but with its individual representatives.
However, gradually, people realized that the Sun and stars are huge gas hot balls. And the Moon and planets are the same celestial bodies, like the Earth, only located at great distances from each other. From us to the Sun - one hundred forty-nine and a half million kilometers ... Far! Nevertheless, the Sun reaches the Earth - it changes winter and summer. People did not think about greater influence. Until the strange facts have accumulated.
At first, technology spoke of them. Why does radio communication disappear during periods of high solar activity at high latitudes? The compass needle rushes like mad from side to side, why? Doctors picked up the baton of questions. German psychoneurologists said they had long noticed: in times of high solar activity, the number of neuropsychiatric diseases increases dramatically. The number of car accidents is increasing on such days, American statistics added. In general, people with a weak type of nervous system feel depressed during such periods, French doctors confirmed.
The sun, telecommunications, man and the magnetic arrow. There is something to think about. What is the relationship between them?
Take earthly factors first. Why is the magnetic arrow always pointing with one end to the north, and the other to the south? Because our Earth is a huge, although not particularly strong magnet. From pole to pole, invisible magnetic lines of force — the magnetic field of the planet — stretched in near-Earth space. In this magnetic field, like waves in the ocean, radio signals fly in different directions. In the direction of the lines of force, the magnetic arrows of thousands and thousands of compasses line up. But if the waves in the ocean rush from side to side, then there is a storm in the ocean. And if the radio waves do not reach from the transmitter to the receiver and the magnetic needle rotates, instead of calmly indicating the north direction, then the storm is played out in a magnetic field ... I wonder what the Earth’s magnetic field is. Let's get to know him better. It turns out that it is most likely created by powerful electric currents flowing inside the earth's crust, and since these currents are not constant and pulsate at a frequency of eight to sixteen vibrations per second, the field also pulsates.
“Wait! Wait! ”- biologists shout, - electric currents also flow in the human brain. They create an electrical voltage that changes at a frequency of eight to sixteen vibrations per second. This wobble is the most important thing. It is called the alpha rhythm and characterizes the normal functioning of the central nervous system. If the alpha rhythm is broken, as a rule, this means that the brain functions have gone out of normal. In common parlance it is said: "A man has gone mad."
Now let's try to speculate: there are eight to sixteen oscillations and here eight to sixteen. There is the magnetic field of the planet and here is the magnetic field of the brain. It is difficult to resist the temptation to link one to the other. Maybe a magnet really plays a much larger role in human life than we think? First of all, you need to look in old books. Were there any indications of this from the ancestors. Then do not have to open the Americas. And here you are.

And I know what you think, Veronica. ”An unfamiliar voice brought Veronica out of her reverie, and she raised her head. An old gentleman stood in front of her. He was tall, thin, gray-haired, in a tuxedo, in a bow-tie and in a hat like the chimney sweeps in the pictures in children's books. These caps are also called cylinders. The gentleman leaned elegantly on a cane.

Near the five-story buildings, angry and stupid boys played. Seeing Veronica, they joyfully abandoned their stupid games and from afar they began to grimace and call the poor girl a big-eyed frog. Stasik tried especially hard. However, contrary to their expectations, she did not cry and run away as before, but with a broad smile, went up to them.
Hello, Stasik, - Veronika curtsied and smiled even wider, - You’re mistaken, I’m not a frog at all. But you were described as small tonight.
I didn’t write anything, - Stasik muttered grimly. He suddenly ceased to be joyful and became crimson.
Described, described! - Veronika repeated confidently, - there your pants on the balcony are drying.
She's lying, lying! shouted the disgraced Stasik to his joyful friends. Friends suddenly lost interest in Veronica and began to show interest in Stasik. And Veronica went further.
Having almost reached home, Veronika met her classmate Nikita, also harmful and nasty. Yesterday he pulled Veronica for pigtails and tried to pour compote on her collar. True Veronica for this scratched his face, and now his cheeks and nose were decorated with a band-aid. Nikita was walking somewhere with her mom. Noticing the girl, Nikita with a sly face began to tell something to her mother and point a finger at Veronica, which in itself is ugly. Besides, he must have lied. Because Nikitkina mom changed her face and screamed at Veronica:
How can you do that !? Oh, you crappy girl!
I'm not trashy, - the girl retorted, - But you are cheating on your customers and yesterday they falsified the expiration date on the sausage.
Nikitkina's mother changed her face again and closed her mouth. Veronica calmly went on, strictly abandoning:
And your son steals cigarettes from his father and smokes in the toilet.
Veronica came home in a good mood, and there she was waiting for another surprise. Dad returned from a business trip and brought his daughter a new, modern, beautiful gadget. Just the one she had long dreamed of. Kissing daddy, Veronica, all happy, ran to her best friend Dasha to brag. The boasting was a success. Dasha looked wide at the gadget and at Veronica.
How glad I am for you! - Dasha said radiantly smiling to her friend.
And Veronica suddenly felt that Dasha had broken her mother’s favorite cup yesterday, and, in order to avoid punishment, had blamed her grandmother’s beloved cat.
Only Veronica did not begin to tell anyone about this because she was a kind and not categorical girl. She hugged Dasha and said:
