An attack on a military unit on March 24. The attack on the Rosgvardia base in Chechnya: six soldiers were killed, the militants were destroyed

RBC became aware of the details of the militants' attack on a part of the Russian Guard in Chechnya on the night of March 24. The militants were on the "Wahhabi" register, the guards in the barracks were unarmed, and the officers on duty at the checkpoint were asleep, a source in Rosgvardia and an interlocutor close to the security forces of Chechnya told RBC

Surprise attack

Servicemen of the Russian Guard military unit (military unit 3761) in the Chechen village of Naurskaya, where they were unarmed on the night from Thursday to Friday, March 24. This was reported to RBC by a source in the Russian Guard and an interlocutor close to the power structures of Chechnya.

By six o'clock in the evening, all servicemen, according to the governing documents, hand over their weapons to the storage room, the keys to which are at the military unit's duty officer, sources told RBC. In the event of an attack on a unit, the duty officers at the checkpoint (checkpoint) must report this to the unit commander. The commander, in turn, must take the keys to the weapons room from the unit duty officer and give the fighters weapons. But on the night of the attack, no alarm signals were received from the officers on duty at the checkpoint: they were asleep during the attack, according to the interlocutors of RBC.

The militants climbed over the fencing of the unit, unnoticed in the fog made their way to the checkpoint and entered through an open door, since the door was not closed during duty, a source of RBC, close to the power structures of Chechnya, restored the chronology of the attack. The attackers stabbed two sleeping attendants, took their machine guns and rubber truncheons. Entering the territory of the unit, the militants stumbled upon a patrol.

In total, eight people participated in the attack on the guards. , According to the interlocutors of RBC, six militants were killed during the ensuing shootout with the patrolmen, who, unlike the rest of the soldiers of the unit, had their weapons with them. During the attack, two more accomplices of the militants were outside the territory of the military unit - “stood on the watch”, and therefore, when panic arose, they managed to hide, the second source explained. One of the two who escaped has already been caught, said an interlocutor from the Russian Guard.

Hearing the sounds of shooting, one of the privates of the unit tried for 15 minutes to get through to the duty officer, and another contractor called the neighboring military unit and reported the attack, but they did not immediately believe him, sources told RBC. Earlier, TASS, citing its own source, reported that there were not six, but eight militants. According to the agency, the attack was repulsed after the battle at the checkpoint.

At least six of the eight attackers were kept under preventive (so-called Wahhabi) registration, a source close to Chechnya's security forces told RBC. Vakhuchet is the practice of unofficial registration of suspects in extremism organized by the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Caucasus. In one of the groups on VKontakte appeared photos of the killed, which were photographed, presumably, during registration. Those who attacked the military unit “climbed exclusively for weapons,” concludes the interlocutor of RBC.

Old acquaintances

The militants were well acquainted with the territory of the military unit, said a source close to the power structures of Chechnya. “Some of them previously took part in construction work: they tinted something, whitewashed,” he said.

One of the six dead Rosguard soldiers was a signalman and happened to be at the scene of the shootout by accident. “There were two on duty at the checkpoint, three on patrol, and this signalman was in the wrong place at the wrong time,” said a source in the National Guard.

At the same time, three servicemen were supposed to be on duty at the checkpoint on Friday night, but one of them “asked for time off,” the source said. The order of the day in accordance with the law is approved by the commander. But if necessary, the working day can be extended, the source explained.

A source close to the power structures of Chechnya added that “walking for a day” outside the territory of a military unit costs 1,000 rubles, and the servicemen themselves call such a day off “pro *** m”.

According to the interlocutor, the patrolmen, noticing the night of strangers poorly distinguishable in the fog, shouted: "Stop!" To this the militants replied: "Ours, we are returning with a problem." Precisely because the patrolmen heard the words familiar to them, they did not react properly, the interlocutor noted. “It was only when the militants opened fire that it became clear that they were not their own,” concluded a RBC source.

To release people for the territory of the unit in exchange for a monetary reward or, for example, a block of cigarettes is a common practice in the army, Alexander Peredruk, press secretary of the human rights organization Soldiers Mothers of St. Petersburg, commented to RBC.

An official check of the circumstances of the incident showed that the military "acted in this situation with courage and selflessness, in accordance with official duties and military regulations," said on Wednesday, March 29, the press service of the North Caucasian District of the National Guard troops (quoted by Interfax). This, the press service emphasized, made it possible to prevent numerous casualties among the military and members of their families living on the territory of the military camp. Investigative bodies continue to work and establish all the circumstances of the incident. “Therefore, references by some media outlets to certain informed persons in the power structures of the Chechen Republic and allegedly the National Guard cannot be perceived as reliable information,” the press service emphasized.

RBC's editors are awaiting answers to inquiries from the Investigative Committee of Russia (TFR), as well as from the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Chechnya. The TFR in Chechnya suggested that RBC send requests to the TFR in the North Caucasus Federal District and the Russian Guard "for consideration on the merits."

In turn, the Rosgvardia, in response to a request sent on March 27 by RBC, reported that at present, officers of the Investigative Committee of Russia are carrying out operational and investigative measures to clarify the circumstances of the incident. Therefore, the requested data can be made public only with the permission of the investigator. For additional information, the Rosgvardia recommended contacting the investigating authorities. The department's response was received by RBC on April 6.

Official version

According to the security officials (Rosgvardia, SK and NAK), a group of six militants on the night of March 23-24, carrying knives and firearms, “using the fog,” attacked military unit 3761 located in the village of Naurskaya (Chechnya) ... As a result of the attack, six servicemen of the Russian Guard were killed and three more were injured. Six militants were killed in the shootout. On the bodies of two of them, dummies of suicide belts were found.

The terrorist organization "Islamic State" (ISIS), banned in Russia, is responsible for what happened. President Vladimir Putin this terrorist attack is a "grave event", and the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, considers himself guilty of the attack.

“In this case, first of all, it is my fault and the fault of all the power and law enforcement structures in Chechnya,” Kadyrov said. According to him, the military "relaxed, they thought that they had neutralized and detained everyone." The head of the Chechen Republic that the radicals planned to seize weapons to commit terrorist acts.

New version

"Novaya Gazeta" questioned the official version of the death of those who attacked a part of the National Guard. According to the newspaper's conclusions, the militants did not die while repelling the attack, but were shot "almost point-blank" after the arrest. “All the killed have an entrance bullet hole located in the area of the auricle,” the article said.

Arguing its conclusions, "Novaya Gazeta" wrote that on the left hand of one of the killed terrorists, an even fresh bruise is clearly visible, resembling in its appearance a trace from handcuffs. Novaya Gazeta also claims that the dummies of the martyrs' belts were already strapped to the bodies of the militants. “It is also clearly visible that the IED [improvised explosive device] is tied to the body of the deceased with yellow tape over fresh stains of earth, grass and blood on the jacket of the“ attacker, ”the newspaper emphasized.

According to Novaya Gazeta, military unit 3761 is served mainly by servicemen on assignment from other regions (RBC's source clarified that only contract servicemen serve in the unit). "Novaya", referring to the residents of the village of Naurskaya, put forward a version that there was a conflict on ethnic grounds between the local Chechens and the military personnel of the unit, during which Chechens could be detained. “However, this version still does not clarify the circumstances of the injury and death of nine guardsmen,” the newspaper emphasized.

Sniper, rope traces and IEDs

Some of the killed "were shot by a sniper, a Dagestani," explained an interlocutor of RBC from the Russian Guard, the militants' bullet wounds to the head. According to him, all the attacking units were residents of the village. In addition to knives, they carried IEDs.

“The belts of the suicide bombers were not dummies [as the official version stated], but IEDs that the militants had tied with tape,” a source from the Rosgvardia said, stressing that the explosive devices were low-yield. “If one of the terrorists had activated his belt, he himself would not have died from this,” the interlocutor explained.

The marks on the wrist that Novaya saw were left from the rope of a rubber truncheon, according to RBC sources. A photo (18+) of one of the killed was published on the website of the "Operational Line" analytical community. In addition, Novaya has previously released a photo of another victim. In both photographs, the marks on the hands are more likely from a rope, and not from handcuffs, the head of the department of forensic medicine of the First Moscow State Medical University named after I.M. Sechenov Yuri Pigolkin.

“Damage is uncharacteristic for the action from the metal of handcuffs, because the track has uneven edges,” the forensic expert commented on the photo of “Novaya”. - If there were handcuffs, the line would be even. By its nature, the trail [in the photo of “Novaya”] resembles an hourglass. There are abrasions on the lower and upper parts of the hand. Perhaps he was being dragged by the hand. " However, the version with handcuffs cannot be completely ruled out, Pigolkin said. According to him, such damage could have been caused by handcuffs if he tried to pull off the bracelet.

Strengthening security measures

Advisor to the director of the Russian Guard, Alexander Khinshtein, refused to assess the publication of Novaya Gazeta. “There is an initiated criminal case, there is an investigation group, there are bodies of both our servicemen and militants. And, of course, all the necessary examinations, including postmortem examinations, will be carried out in the case. The examination will establish the cause of death of everyone, ”he told the RBC correspondent.

After the attack in the North Caucasus, "a combat regime was introduced," Khinshtein added. When asked if security measures in Moscow had increased after the events of March 24, Khinshtein replied that he did not know anything about it. In the opinion of the adviser to the director of the Russian Guard, in any case, anti-terrorist measures in Moscow and throughout Russia "are being actively and effectively applied."

“What happened has shown that the problem of international terrorism, its threat in Russia is also urgent. Today the National Guard is at the forefront of not just terrorism, but international terrorism, ”he added. Khinshtein noted that the militants had an advantage in the attack. The fact that the attackers were destroyed on the spot testifies to the high preparedness and professionalism of the Russian military, he concluded.

Radical sympathies

Despite the fact that ISIS militants claimed responsibility for the attack and the number of those who sympathize with radical Islamists in the North Caucasus has increased recently, there is no need to fear a "return to the 90s", experts interviewed by RBC say.

The first ISIS cells in the region appeared at the end of 2014. The final Caucasian branch in the form of the "Vilayat Caucasus" grouping ("wilayat" means "province") took shape in June 2015, when the leader of the "Vilayat" took an oath of allegiance to the leader of the "Islamic State". To date, about 50 active ISIS militants appear on the official wanted list in the North Caucasus alone, military expert Andrei Pajusov told RBC. The number of sympathizers is many times greater, he noted. “Roskomnadzor constantly blocks terrorist publics and websites. But any newly created group gains at least 500 subscribers per day, ”Pajusov said.

The number of those loyal to radicals has seriously increased after Russia entered the war in Syria in September 2015, said Anton Mardasov, head of the Middle East Conflict Research Department at the Institute for Innovative Development. “When the Chechens saw that our Special Operations Forces were conducting raids with the Shiite Hezbollah patches, it caused them not only bewilderment, but, frankly, anger,” he said, recalling that the majority of the republic's residents are Sunnis. Of the "Chechen" battalion of the military police of the Ministry of Defense to Syria is associated with an attempt to smooth over religious contradictions, Mardasov said.

The Islamist underground still exists, and the militants continue to organize sabotage, said Sergei Markedonov, associate professor of the Department of Foreign Regional Studies and Foreign Policy of the Russian State Humanitarian University. For example, in August 2016, ISIS was responsible for the attack on a traffic police post in the Moscow region, in December - in Grozny, he recalled. But this does not mean that there is no struggle with the militants and they feel at ease - a return to "Russia of the 90s" should not be expected, since there are no large terrorist groups in Russia, Markedonov is sure.

ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack, as it is trying to attract media attention against the backdrop of the defeats in Syria and Iraq in 2016, according to the orientalist, senior lecturer at the Higher School of Economics Leonid Isaev. “For jihadists, the worst thing is if they are forgotten and they stop writing and talking. Their main strategy is not to organize a terrorist attack, but to monitor the terrorist attacks and, as soon as something happened, declare that it is us, ”the expert summed up.

On the night of Friday, March 24, at about 2.30 a group of militants (according to various sources, numbering six to eight people) tried to break through to the Rosguard base. This is the 140th artillery regiment of unit 3761, located in the Naursky district of the Chechen Republic.

The militants intended to take advantage of the heavy fog and infiltrate the officers' dormitories. “When attempting to enter the territory of the military town, the bandit group was discovered by a military detachment, which entered into battle with it,” the Russian Guard said.

The main exchange of fire took place at the checkpoint at about three o'clock in the morning.

As a result, six terrorists were killed, and, according to some information, two more managed to hide in the nearest forest.

The search for them is ongoing. According to the National Anti-Terrorism Committee (NAC), the militants were found to have firearms and ammunition, and on the bodies of two of them were dummies of suicide belts.

“Unfortunately, it was not possible to avoid losses from the soldiers of the National Guard. There are dead and wounded among the servicemen, ”the ministry added. As a result of the attack

six soldiers of the Russian Guard were killed, three people were wounded. One of the victims was wounded in the head and is in serious condition.

The condition of the rest is assessed as “moderate”.

A regime of full combat readiness has been introduced on the territory of the military unit. On the territory of the Naursky region of Chechnya, after the attack of militants on the military unit of the Russian Guard, the "Intercept" plan was introduced. Explosive technicians of the FSB of Russia are working at the scene. In addition, operational-search activities and investigative actions are underway, as well as identification of gang members.

The commander-in-chief of the Federal Service of the National Guard of Russia Viktor Zolotov believes that the soldiers of the National Guard at the cost of their lives prevented casualties among the civilian population.

“A dastardly suicide attack on the 140th artillery regiment of the 46th separate brigade claimed the lives of six of our comrades in arms, who honorably fulfilled their military duty and prevented numerous civilian casualties,” Zolotova quotes TASS.

Note that the Russian Guard is actively involved in counter-terrorism operations in the Caucasus. So, according to the department, in 2016 in the North Caucasus Federal District 82 militants were destroyed by its fighters, among them there were 9 bandit leaders. In addition, about 50 homemade bombs were defused. In total, Rosgvardia units have helped in carrying out more than a thousand special operations.

The last high-profile attack by militants on police in the capital of Chechnya took place on the night of December 18, 2016. Then, according to the head of the region Ramzan Kadyrov,

the militants seized a police car and intended to stage a terrorist attack in Grozny. In a shootout with the police, four militants were killed, and several more, including one girl, were wounded and detained.

Some of the attackers managed to escape. The surviving militants were blocked in the Staropromyslovsky district of the city. It was reported that the attackers were members of the terrorist organization IS, which is banned in the Russian Federation.

However, Rosgvardia officers are attacked not only in Chechnya. At the end of December 2016, on the territory of the Troitsky and Novomoskovsky administrative districts, a group of persons was stopped by a detachment of the Russian Guard to check the documents. The security detachment arrived at the Dixy store in the Rogovskoye village, where a group of robbers was operating. Finding no one on the spot, the security forces began to check the area around the store. In the building of the old fire station, they stumbled upon a group of people who were asked to show their documents. At that moment, the criminals opened fire on the police officers from unidentified weapons.

As a result, one officer - senior police sergeant Viktor Glebov - was killed, he was hit in the chest, another policeman was wounded. The criminals took away the weapon from the killed Rosguard soldier: two machine guns and a pistol with full ammunition. As reported on the website of the department,

“Senior police sergeant Viktor Glebov, who died in the line of duty, was 30 years old. He has served in law enforcement since 2011. He is survived by his wife, mother and two-year-old daughter. "

The police detained eight people on suspicion of attacking the guards. It is known that the detainees were involved in several robberies and robberies. “The detainees are residents of different regions of Russia and are part of an organized group. They are involved in a number of robberies of trade objects and warehouses, including with the use of weapons, ”said a TASS source in law enforcement agencies.

On the night of March 24, an attack was made on the checkpoint of the Russian Guard regiment in the village of Naurskaya. As a result of the attack, according to security officials, killed six soldiers and six attackers, three security officials were wounded, two fighters managed to escape. Versions about what exactly happened on the night of the attack on the territory of the military unit contradict each other. Novaya Gazeta published an investigation that, contrary to the official version, all the militants were not killed in battle, but were shot. According to RBC, there was a battle on the territory of the unit, but the attackers were able to penetrate the checkpoint due to the fact that the officers on duty at the checkpoint were asleep. Experts interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" question the version of the role of IS * in the attack on the Rosgvardia checkpoint.

"Chinese execution"

"Novaya Gazeta" expressed its doubts about the official version of the clash after studying unretouched photographs of killed local residents, taken at the scene by one of the members of the investigative-operational group. “The photographs clearly show that all the 'attackers' were killed practically in the same way - by a shot in the head,” says Elena Milashina's article published on the Novaya's website on March 25 and in the paper version of the newspaper on March 27. The forensic experts, forensic scientists and ballista who viewed these pictures did not have any contradictions in their judgments about the nature and method of injury - they all confirmed that the people in the photographs were shot almost at point-blank range: all of the killed had an entrance bullet hole located in the area of the auricle, the newspaper writes.

These photographs are also at the disposal of the "Caucasian Knot", but the "Caucasian Knot" deliberately does not publish the photo of the corpses.

"Typical" Chinese execution "- in this way one of the former law enforcement officers who served in Chechnya commented on the photos, Novaya writes, explaining that both sides fighting in the Chechen campaigns called the execution of prisoners of war" Chinese execution "- by analogy with the public shootings in China, which is characterized by two signs: mass and the method of murder - the victim is on his knees, and the executioner shoots in the head, most often in the back of the head. to a lesser extent, that all the "attackers" were detained alive, "the author of the article notes.

Milashina also drew attention to the photographs of the murdered Chechen with a dummy of an improvised explosive device. On the victim's left hand, a smooth fresh bruise is clearly visible, resembling a strangulation groove from handcuffs. It is also clearly visible that the IED is tied to the body of the deceased with yellow tape over fresh stains of earth, grass and blood, "the journalist concludes.

According to Novaya Gazeta, two of the wounded, as well as at least one of the six killed security officials, received gunshot wounds, while the attackers were armed with sticks and knives. This fact is confirmed by the official reports of the National Guard, the newspaper writes.

The fact that the attackers did not have firearms and seized them after the attack on the security forces was reported by the adviser to the director of the Russian Guard, Alexander Khinshtein. According to him, the attack on the unit in the village of Naurskaya was carried out at the beginning of the third night "in conditions of pitch darkness and heavy fog." Initially, the attackers set up an ambush on the route of the combat guard of the Rosgvardia unit - military personnel, which patrolled the territory along the perimeter of the unit. Having dealt with them and seizing weapons, the militants went to the unit itself, Khinshtein said.

Doubts about the official version of events were expressed not only by Elena Milashina, but also by some of the experts interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot". In particular, Forbes journalist Orkhan Dzhemal put forward two alternative scenarios for the development of events in Naurskaya. "It is possible that there was an attack on a military unit by unknown forces, people, during which the servicemen were killed. Further, some of the people ( attackers) could be captured and executed. Or a more harsh scenario is possible, that at the moment when the leadership of the security structures of the republic demanded a response, the people who were previously captured and kept "in reserve" could be presented as liquidated participants in the attack. This is not ruled out, "he told the" Caucasian Knot "correspondent.

Dzhemal added that previously similar situations in the republic occurred "quite regularly." "Often people who were kept in basements for several months were then killed and said that they had been eliminated during the battle," Jemal said. He added that the likelihood of such a version is also indicated by "the presence of traces of handcuffs on the body of one of the killed."

Denis Sokolov, head of the RAMCOM research center, also said in an interview with the "Caucasian Knot": "Not for the first time and, unfortunately, not for the last, previously detained, abducted, dead people are presented to us as just killed in the course of another operation or rejection attacks, because there is no guarantee that the official version is true. "

Igor Kalyapin, head of the Committee for the Prevention of Torture, also questioned the official version of the attack on the military town of the National Guard in Naurskaya. "I do not know what happened there. Novaya Gazeta wrote quite correctly that the version that is being presented to us cannot correspond to reality. This is not because Novaya Gazeta knows how it really happened, but because this version is internally contradictory. The facts that are being told to us indicate that it could not have been so. But how it actually happened, I don’t know. They lied to us - this is a fact. And everything else is just speculation ”, - Igor Kalyapin said to the "Caucasian Knot".

An Interfax source in the power structures of the North Caucasian Federal District denied the version of Novaya Gazeta. Speaking about the "Chinese execution", the source said that "such a term never existed in Chechnya."

The guard fell asleep

The version of events, closer to the official one, was presented on March 29 by the RBK newspaper. " The militants climbed over the unit's fence, unnoticed in the fog made their way to the checkpoint and entered through an open door, since the door was not allowed to be closed during duty, they stabbed two sleeping attendants there, took away their machine guns and rubber truncheons, sources said. According to the words, already on the territory of the unit, the militants stumbled upon patrolmen and were killed in a shootout with them.

At the same time, the militants were the first to open fire, according to RBC sources. According to them, the patrolmen, noticing strangers poorly distinguishable in the fog at night, shouted: "Stop!" - and heard in response the familiar words that the guardsmen utter when they return from illegal leave. "Only when the militants opened fire, it became clear that they were not their own," the source said. At the same time, on the night of the attack, three servicemen were supposed to be on duty at the checkpoint, but one of them "took time off," says a source in the National Guard. A source close to the power structures of Chechnya added that it costs 1,000 rubles to “walk for a day” outside the territory of a military unit.

The bullet wounds of the militants in the head, which can be seen in the photo, were explained by the RBC source from the Russian Guard by the fact that some of the attackers were "shot by a Dagestani sniper." According to him, in addition to knives, the militants were carrying homemade bombs.

According to a source from RBC, one of the militants who managed to escape after the attack in Naurskaya has already been caught. This, however, is not consistent with the information received "Caucasian Knot" from a source in the power structures of Chechnya, who reported on March 28 that the data on the two hiding participants in the attack had not yet been confirmed.

Is ISIS involved in the Naurskaya attack?

Representatives of the power structures of Chechnya linked the attack in Naurskaya with the activities on the territory of Chechnya of members of the terrorist organization "Islamic State" (IS, ISIS) * banned in Russia by the court. The SITE Intelligence Group, which monitors the online activities of radical organizations, also released information that this particular group claimed responsibility for the attack.

A possible connection between the attackers and the Middle East terrorist organizations is also indicated by the fact that on March 20, 2017, four days before the attack in the Naur region, a video titled "Meeting of the Ichkeria Military Jamaat" was published on the Chechen News YouTube account. From the description of the video, it follows that it depicts former fighters of the Jihadist group "Jaish al-Muhajirin wal-Ansar" operating in Syria. In the video, people with weapons, whose faces are hidden, are discussing how they will "collect muhajids." “Christians and munafiks will know, with God's help, that we are alive, that we are not dead,” the masked man says in the video. In one of the first comments to the YouTube video, a discussion participant under the pseudonym "We arrived in Grozny" wrote on March 24: "These are the fighters who attacked a military base today!", Presumably referring to the attack on the Russian Guard checkpoint.

"Caucasian Knot" tells about this and other videos of modern Chechen jihadists in the help " Video oaths and video confessions of the "Islamic State" in Kadyrov's Chechnya".

It is worth noting that the "Islamic State" * is not mentioned in the video, and "Jaysh al-Muhajirin wal-Ansar" is now part of the warring party with ISIS * " Front of al-Nusra"* (). However, the former leader of Jaysh al-Muhajirin wal-Ansar, a native of the Pankisi Gorge Abu Umaru al-Shishani in 2013 he took one of the leading positions in IS *.

As the expert Denis Sokolov noted in an interview with the "Caucasian Knot", Internet discussions around the events in Naurskaya show that not everyone agrees that IS was involved in the attack, despite the fact that it claimed responsibility. "We are at the beginning of a renaissance of national protest armed movements, if not similar to the Caucasus Emirate * ( banned in Russia by a court and recognized as a terrorist organization), then no longer included under the IG brand * ", - Sokolov believes.

All six killed attackers on Rosgvardia lived in the village of Naurskaya and were in kinship and friendly relations with each other. The eldest of those killed was 27 years old. Three of them are natives of the Naurskaya brothers Muridov, three more are natives of the Rostov and Volgograd regions of Zakaraev, Akbulatov and Musaliev. According to local residents, after the attack on Rosgvardia, the security forces carried out a mass detention of men with beards in the mosques of the village of Naurskaya and the village of Chernokozovo, and then the relatives of the militants killed in Naurskaya were also detained. A law enforcement source said that the killed militants were on a preventive record with the police as prone to extremism. According to local residents, after the attack on Rosgvardia, the security forces carried out a mass detention of bearded men in the mosques of the village of Naurskaya and the village of Chernokozovo, and then the relatives of the militants killed in Naurskaya were also detained. At the same time, according to residents of the Naursky district, the local youth did not conflict with the military.

The "Caucasian Knot" follows in a special chronicle the armed incidents and abductions of people taking place in Chechnya. News about the impact of the war in the Middle East on the situation in the regions of the Caucasus is posted on the thematic pages "Syria on fire" and "Caucasus at gunpoint" Caliphate. MOSCOW, 24 Mar - RIA Novosti. A group of militants that attacked a military unit of the Russian Guard in Chechnya on Friday night planned to steal weapons and then commit high-profile terrorist attacks, said the head of the republic, Ramzan Kadyrov.

“Late at night they made an attempt to seize weapons to enter the territory of one of the military units (Rosgvardia) ... Now there is no doubt that the bandits intended to commit high-profile terrorist attacks using weapons if they could get them and escape alive. civilians, "he wrote on his Instagram page.

The attack took place late at night in a heavy fog - six militants armed with firearms and knives made their way into the military unit. During the exchange of fire, all of them were destroyed, but not without casualties among the military: six officers of the National Guard were killed, three more were wounded.

According to the official version, confirmed by the press service of the National Guard, on the night of March 23-24, six residents of the village of Naurskaya (identified) attacked military unit 3761. During the "shootout" the attackers were liquidated, six National Guard servicemen were killed, three were injured. However, the official version about the attack on the National Guard unit stationed in the village of Naurskaya raises serious doubts. Novaya Gazeta obtained unretouched photographs of Chechens allegedly killed in the course of the "clash". These photographs were taken at the scene by one of the members of the investigative-operational group. The photographs clearly show that all the "attackers" were killed in almost the same way - by a shot in the head.

Novaya Gazeta showed these pictures to forensic experts, criminologists and ballists. The interviewed specialists did not have any contradictions in their judgments about the nature and method of injury. Experts confirmed that the people in the photographs were shot almost point-blank; all of the killed had an entrance bullet hole located in the area of the auricle.

Killed attacker

"Typical" Chinese execution ". This is how both sides fighting in the Chechen campaigns called the execution of prisoners of war

(by analogy with the public shootings in China, which are characterized by two signs: massiveness and the method of murder - the victim is on his knees, and the executioner shoots in the head, most often in the back of the head).

There are no other bullet wounds, apart from wounds to the head, on the bodies of the Chechens who allegedly "attacked" military unit 3761. These photographs practically disavow the reports of the armed clash that took place on the night of March 23-24 and at least indicate that all the "attackers" were detained alive.

Of particular interest is a photograph of a killed Chechen with a fake improvised explosive device (IED). (The fact that the IEDs were not real was officially confirmed by the National Anti-Terrorism Committee.)

One of the attackers on the military unit. Operational shooting

On the left hand of the murdered, an even fresh bruise is clearly visible, resembling in its appearance a strangulation groove from handcuffs. It is also clearly visible that the IED is tied to the body of the deceased - with yellow tape OVER fresh stains from earth, grass and blood on the "attacker's" jacket.

In fact, this means that someone has already strapped the IED to the body of the "militant".

If there was no clash (and the photographs of the killed Chechens are objective evidence of this), then the question arises: under what circumstances were nine servicemen of military unit 3761 killed and wounded?

Novaya Gazeta has information on the nature of the injuries of the four guardsmen. Major S. (all surnames are in the editorial office) was diagnosed with open craniocerebral trauma and lacerated wounds to the head and face. Senior Lieutenant S. received a gunshot wound to his right thigh, and Private I. received a tangential gunshot wound to the knee joint.

It is also known that at least one of the six victims - Senior Lieutenant Ermolaev - died from gunshot wounds to the chest and abdomen.

However, according to a prosecutor who was directly involved in the inspection of the scene, the Chechens who "attacked" military unit 3761 were armed only with sticks and knives.

This fact is confirmed by the official reports of the National Guard (see photo). That is, the Chechens did not have firearms with them.

The attackers had no firearms

According to the official version of the National Guard, the "attackers" failed to penetrate the territory of the military unit and take possession of the military personnel's weapons. Thus, it is not clear under what circumstances the soldiers of the National Guard received gunshot wounds and who actually shot them.

According to Novaya Gazeta, military unit 3761 is served mainly by servicemen sent from other regions. According to information from residents of the village of Naurskaya, there may have been a conflict on ethnic grounds between local Chechens and servicemen of military unit 3761. This could become the reason for a showdown, during which the Chechens could be detained. However, this version still does not clarify the circumstances of the injury and death of nine guardsmen.

"Unfortunately, our solemn event was overshadowed by the tragic events that took place last night in the village of the Naurskaya Chechen Republic. The participants honored the memory of the fallen soldiers with a minute of silence.

The militants go for broke

Vasily Piskarev, chairman of the State Duma Committee on Security and Countering Terrorism, said that Russia will continue to react toughly to manifestations of terrorism.

"They do this out of despair. When they go for broke, it means that people have reached the edge, the bottom, when it is impossible to go further. Terrorism is the bottom, a dead end, from which there is no way out," the parliamentarian said, commenting on the attack in Chechnya.

"And our country, with the help of highly qualified actions of law enforcement agencies, will continue to react to such actions toughly and uncompromisingly," Piskarev added.

Terrorists went for weapons

Former State Duma deputy Anvar Makhmutov believes that the purpose of the bandits was to seize weapons.

Opinion: the militants who attacked the Rosgvardia facility in Chechnya came from abroadSix terrorists were killed in an attempt to attack a military unit of the Russian Guard in the Chechen Republic. Anvar Makhmutov, an expert on international affairs, expressed the opinion on the air of Sputnik radio that the purpose of the terrorists was to seize weapons.

"When the enemy is almost defeated, he becomes especially daring. The successes in the Caucasus in the fight against terrorism should not weaken the units of the Russian Guard - they were trying to test their strength by forces that, unfortunately, have not stopped their activities there. The enemy is insidious, experienced." - said Makhmutov on the air of radio Sputnik.

The expert also called for strengthening the military units of the Russian Guard.

"The enemy showed that not only civilians, but also objects of power structures can be the target of an attack. I think that serious measures will be taken to prevent such factors - the military units of the Russian Guard will be reinforced with more modern means of warning," he said.
