The most miserable people on earth. Scientists have proved: Russians are the most unhappy on the planet

1. Japanese, who twice fell under the atomic bombing in Hiroshima and Nagasaki

On August 6, 1945, a Nagasaki resident, Tsutomu Yamaguchi, was in Hiroshima on the affairs of his employer Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, when the city was suddenly bombed. In fact, the man wanted to leave him on the same day, and was already on his way to the station when he realized that he had forgotten Hanko (a seal allowing him to travel), as a result of which he was forced to return to his office to pick it up. At 8:15, when he was walking back to the docks, The Enola Gay, an American bomber, dropped the atomic bomb "Kid", not far from the city center, which was only 3 km from this place.

The explosion caused him rupture of the eardrum, temporarily blinded and left the man burns all over the left side of his upper body. Having recovered, he spent the night in a bomb shelter, and the next day returned to Nagasaki.

When he got home, he finally sought medical help so that his wounds would be treated. Despite the fact that the man was heavily bandaged, the next day, August 9 (the second day of the atomic bombing), he came to work. Just as Yamaguchi was describing the explosion in Hiroshima to the department head, the American Bockscar bomber dropped the Fat Man atomic bomb on Nagasaki. And the second time he was 3 km from the epicenter, but was not injured again.

In 2009, the Japanese government officially recognized him as the only person who survived both explosions. He died of stomach cancer in 2010 at the age of 93.

2. The Greek, who became the only resident of the city who did not win 950 million in lotto

In 2012, residents of the small town of Sodeto in Spain bought tickets for the Big Spanish Christmas Lottery to support the Housewives Association, which receives a small percentage of their sales.
When the decisive day came, all their tickets were winning, which made all 70 families participating in a certain amount of money from the total winnings of 950 million, which was recognized as one of the largest in the history of the lottery.

All the villagers received their share of the prize, with the exception of one Mr. Kostis Mitsotakis, a Greek director whose house was missed for some reason when collecting money for tickets, which made him the only person in Sodeto who won nothing that day.

3. The stewardess of the ocean liner, which had an accident on the liners Titanic, Britannic and Olympic

In 1911, 23-year-old Violet Jessop was a stewardess on the Olympic, an elite ship, which at that time was the largest civilian airliner until it collided with the old armored cruiser Hawk near the Isle of Wight.

A year later, Violetta boarded the Titanic, just like the stewardess, and was there until he, as you know, collided with an iceberg, broke into two parts and sank. Subsequently, she was assigned to the lifeboat at number 16 and rescued by the Carpathia.

And finally, during the First World War, she again got a job as a flight attendant aboard the hospital ship of His Majesty Britannic. Whatever it was, it is obvious that the ship was blown up by a mine and, as a result of the fact that it had all the windows open for ventilation, it quickly sank in the Aegean Sea near the Greek island of Kea. The number of victims was 30 people.

After the war, Violetta continued to work as a stewardess! Many years later, in 1971, she died of heart failure.

4. A woman who suffered 5 times from hurricanes

Melanie Martinez has lost 4 homes in the last 50 years after Hurricanes Betsy (1965), Juan (1985), George (1998) and Katrina (2005) passed, but she still does not dare to leave Louisiana. “I was born here,” she says. - "And this is home, home, home."

Impressed by her story, the Hideous Houses reality show, which runs on the A&E channel, chose her home for a facelift worth $ 20,000 in 2012. However, it seems that luck has betrayed her this time. A few months later, a category one hurricane named Isaac hit her new home. Everything was lost. “Now I have lost 5 houses due to five hurricanes. And each time they were wiped off the face of the earth, ”said Martinez, who is now called the“ most unlucky woman in America ”by the media.

5. A man from Florida, who was bitten by a shark, was struck by lightning and stung by a snake

Eric Norry is no stranger to unusual phenomena. After an almost deadly shark bite, he told reporters that he had also previously been struck by lightning and still bitten by a snake.

On July 29, 2013, Norri was engaged in spearfishing in the Bahamas when a shark crept up behind him and bit off part of his leg. Norry's father-in-law dived into the water between him and the shark and helped him get to the shore, where, as it turned out, a doctor from San Francisco was resting. To stop the blood that came from a fresh wound, Norry used a large rubber band from his harpoon, from which he built a pressure bandage.

6. The Briton, who survived 16 major accidents during his life, including a lightning strike, a mine collapse and three car accidents

If you analyze the media data, the “John Disaster,” as some call it, being a 54-year-old technical worker, is likely to be the most unlucky person in Britain.
John Line's failures last his whole life. He was even known as a man who had two accidents at the same time. As a child, he fell from his horse and cart, and only after that, he fell under a delivery van.

When he was a teenager, he broke his arm, falling from a tree. On the way back from the hospital, his bus had an accident, and he again broke this same arm, only in a different place. The accident happened, of course, on Friday the 13th. Later, in 2006, his story hit the newspapers, because he again was in a lying position after he fell through the hatch at work.

7. An American who was robbed at the gunpoint, was stabbed in the chest, was bitten by two snakes at the same time, and struck by lightning

John Wade Agan got into the news in 2011, after he got to the hospital, this time struck by lightning because he decided to use a landline phone at home in Florida.

In the past, a 47-year-old man was robbed at the gunpoint while driving his taxi and was locked in his own trunk. He also suffered from a knife wound in the chest, which was committed with the help of a butcher’s knife in 2008. He also claims that in 2009 he was simultaneously bitten immediately by two snakes.

Russian citizens have two firm convictions. First, they are the most miserable. The second - for happiness they lack money. The American sociologist proved that the first statement is true, and the second is not. True, there is good news. Our grief can be helped, there would be a desire.

For 30 years, the World Values Survey (WVS) study, “World Values Research,” was conducted under the supervision of University of Michigan professor Ronald Inglehart. In its framework, scientists explore civil society in hundreds of countries around the world. People are asked how happy they are, and they are also asked about their sociocultural values. Every year, the WVS publishes an “index of happiness,” which is very popular with world media. Russia traditionally ranks last in this index. Our citizens feel as miserable as the inhabitants of the impoverished Nigeria and the war-ravaged Iraq.

The most miserable people on Earth live in Russia. This is a scientifically established fact.
“Russia is a unique case. Here the level of happiness is much lower than it should be in the current state of affairs, ”says Ronald Inglehart. According to him, incredible pessimism was revealed back in Soviet times: in 1981, his group conducted a pilot study in the Tambov region. The results were shocking.

“The level of happiness depends on the level of income - in rich countries there are more happy people. But in the Tambov region a level of unhappiness was recorded at the level of India and Nigeria, which were much poorer, ”says Inglehart.

Since 1991, the level of happiness in Russia has been measured every five years. The results so impressed the scientist that next year he will head the Laboratory for Comparative Social Research, which is opening here on a grant from the Russian government.

“Your country is a very interesting case,” the scientist admits. “Although, of course, I would not wish anyone to be the object of such interest - after all, this is the same as the doctor’s interest in a unique disease.”

“Social Doctor” Inglehart knows what he says: judging by the results of measurements, Russia from a low level of happiness in 1991 fell to a completely impossible level. Moreover, such a speed and depth of fall have never been recorded - even in countries covered by war, epidemics and famine.

But this was not enough - by 1996, the level of happiness fell even more. And yet ... A slight increase was recorded only in 2006. By this time, the country was bathing in petrodollars, holidays in foreign resorts became commonplace for Russians, and Russian prices caused a rash among stingy foreigners. At the same time, Russian citizens had as much happiness as Albanians.

Inglehart explains the Russian phenomenon by stagnation, and then the collapse of the USSR, the lack of democracy, etc., but generally admits that the answer is not complete. Still, the collapse of communism affected other countries, and even the former Soviet republics, many countries experienced much more misery and poverty, and their citizens did not observe such pessimism. In fact, to search for the reasons for the phenomenal unhappiness of the Russians, Inglehart came to our country.

One explanation is the sociocultural values of Russians. In 2006, the WVS drew up a kind of cultural map of the world. All countries studied (and this is 90% of the world's population) were distributed along two coordinate axes. One concerns cultural values: traditional - modern. Roughly speaking - “All for one” or “Each for himself”. The second measures motivation: values of survival - values of self-realization. Continuing the generalization again: “Better to live on your knees” or “Better to die while standing.”

The results are as follows. The Scandinavians felt that it was better to die standing, but each for himself. The English-speaking world also preferred to die standing, but about each one hesitated for himself. The Japanese and the people of Southeast Asia, professing Confucianism, decided that everyone, of course, is for himself, but it’s not necessary to die standing up. The inhabitants of Catholic Europe diverged with the Confucians only one thing: they are not sure that everyone is for himself. The proud inhabitants of Latin America naturally replied that they were ready to die standing up, but all for one. Residents of Africa and South Asia are ready to live on their knees, but again, all for one. In post-Soviet countries, citizens chose to live on their knees, but each for himself.

Russia here turned out to be the most “advanced” - even the people of Africa are not ready to endure like the Russians, and comparable individualism was found only among the Bulgarians and Belarusians. It is clear that in a world where "everyone dies alone" and "you die today, and I tomorrow", it is difficult to be happy.

The second explanation lies in the discovery made by the group of Ronald Inglehart. It turned out that the saying "happiness is not in money" is absolutely true. True, only from a certain level of income: when the country's GDP per capita exceeds 5 thousand dollars a year. Up to this point, improving the welfare of citizens makes them happier. Moreover, with GDP below 2 thousand dollars a year, this alone can bring them happiness. If the level of GDP exceeds $ 15 thousand per capita, money cannot make citizens happy. “Bill Gates is hardly much happier than the average American,” explains Inglehart.

Russia belongs to countries where GDP per capita is about 15 thousand dollars. Therefore, we do not become happier with rising oil prices. “Improving wealth helps people become happy only in poor countries,” explains Inglehart. - If it was about countries such as Nigeria or India, I would advise their governments to boost their economies. But already from countries of the level of Portugal with increasing incomes, happiness grows slowly or does not grow at all. ”

So Russia is much more than the growth of salaries and even pensions, will help more justice in the distribution of income. “The greater the inequality in the country, the more unhappy its inhabitants,” says Inglehart. He also notes the need for democracy. But not so much in politics, rather in everyday life. “A person who has freedom of choice is confident that he can change his life for the better, and this makes him happier,” says the scientist. And freedom of choice is not only and not so much the election of authorities, but the opportunity to choose a place of residence, education, work, medical care and so on. That is, transport accessibility is needed for all regions, reform of education and medicine, reform of the registration system and many other reforms.

Finally, there is another factor that generally depends little on the authorities, but which is a good indicator of the level of happiness: tolerance. “Societies that have developed tolerance for people of other races, nationalities, religions, sexual preferences, and so on, are happier,” says Inglehart. “And the best indicator of the level of happiness is the attitude towards the woman.” This sign was noticed even before the scientist by the American writer Robert Heinlein. The health of society can be judged by its attitude towards women, the hero of his most famous novel, Friday, teaches. A society degrading women is painful.

However, one can not ignore the peculiarity of Russian citizens, which the economist Evgeny Yasin calls "a high level of profitability." This phenomenon, one might say, is historical and is reflected in the very proverb about the Kazan orphan, who, as is known from Russian history, received rich gifts from Ivan the Terrible for complaints. “It’s already written in our brains:“ Crouch down, do not lean out, it’s still coming from the Mongol-Tatar yoke, ”says psychologist Valery Gostev. It’s still profitable to be stingy in Russia - these are the Russian citizens who give answers that surprise honest American scientists. However, this benefit is doubtful.

Firstly, it makes it difficult to see the real problems. The writer Varlam Shalamov in his famous “Kolyma Tales” wrote how prisoners, in order to go to the “hospital”, feigned illness, without noticing that they were already terminally ill. We cry not about that, say sociologists. Russian society is “atomizing", all social and even family ties are torn, and people complain that there is not enough money, or even that the neighbor has more money.

Secondly, the same American psychologists believe that in order to become happy, you must first smile. Sooner or later, the “cryman’s pose” leads a person to truly believe in their misfortunes.

Result? Already at the first research in the Tambov region in 1981, Inglehart discovered an increase in alcoholism and an increase in male mortality - something that is now recognized as a murder weapon of the nation. Note that we are talking about 1981, and not about 1991. That is, the “damned democrats” have nothing to do with it. At first, we slightly thickened the colors so that there was something to drink for. Then they believed themselves and added. Then reality confirmed our innocence (and how could it be otherwise, because no one doubted the worst) - well, how not to get drunk here. Then ... And then it may be too late: the heart of society, like the heart of a person, can not stand it, the scientist warns. Pessimism kills.

Perhaps it was the authorities' awareness of this danger that caused the Inglehart group to be the only one in the field of social sciences to win a grant from the Russian government. The scientist himself admits that he is ready to give advice on the results of the study. “I don’t want a country with so many nuclear weapons to be cornered and filled with unhappy people,” he simply explains his interest in the project. Our interest is much higher, so you should carefully listen to the advice of a scientist. And for starters, try to at least learn how to smile.

If you stumbled a couple of times, got under the dirty spray that flew out from under the wheels of a car in rainy weather, or didn’t catch a train and think that you are the most unlucky person on the planet, believe me, this is not so! Today we will introduce you to some people with whom luck is certainly not friends. So here they are:

9. Poor Kostis ...

Since 1771, the celebration of Christmas in Spain begins with a cash lottery, lovingly called by the Spaniards "Fat Man" (or El Gordo). The tradition is very strong and enjoys incredible popularity, it is a kind of national holiday. On the eve of the next draw, residents of the tiny village of Sodeto (mainly farmers, builders, unemployed) purchased lottery tickets. All but one. Kostis Mitsotakis decided that luck would not smile at him. And he turned out to be right - all 70 families were among the lucky ones, the amount of winnings was 950 million dollars!

Poor, poor Kostis Mitsotakis. Unlucky, so unlucky old man ...

8. The man is a lightning rod

They say that lightning never strikes twice in one place. They lie! Roy Sullivan, ranger (forester) of the Shenandoah National Park in Virginia (USA), got into the Guinness Book of Records after it got lightning seven times.

No living creature can survive an electric shock of this magnitude, and Roy survived. For the first time, Roy was struck by lightning when he was on the fire tower. As a result, his toe nail came off. After the second blow, when the poor man rode in a thunderstorm on a mountain road, he was left without eyebrows and lost consciousness. The third time, lightning overtook Sullivan on the lawn near his own house. The result was a paralyzed arm. After the fourth case, Roy always took a bottle of water with him - his hair burned out. In the fifth and sixth times, he again set fire to his hair and received injuries of varying severity. The last, seventh, incident occurred while fishing. The old man just wanted to fish, and got burns to the abdomen and chest. Hard!

Roy Sullivan died at the age of 71 - shot himself in the stomach because of unrequited love.

7 ominous bullet

Luck is changeable. Today you can be on the verge of death and survive, and tomorrow - to die by ridiculous accident. Henry thought he was lucky. No matter how ...

It all started in 1883, when Mr. Zeiland broke off his relationship with his lover. The girl’s heart was so deeply hurt that she could not stand it and committed suicide. Her brother blamed the incident on Henry and vowed to kill him, no matter what it cost him. Catching a victim near the house, the avenger shot Zeiland, he fell to the ground without feelings. The brother decided that the mission was completed and committed suicide with a shot from the same pistol. If he knew how wrong he was, the bullet just touched his head slightly, leaving a scratch on his face, and got stuck in a tree behind. From then on, Henry considered himself lucky. Until one tragic day, when I decided to cut down the very tree in which the bullet was stuck. The barrel was very strong. Zeiland did not come up with a better idea how to destroy it with dynamite. Having installed the checkers, he blew them up and died - under the influence of the explosion, the bullet freed itself from the wooden shackles and hit the poor fellow right in the head.

6 the hairiest man

Ladies, you never tire of complaining that your husbands are too hairy. And then what about Yu Zhenhuang, the hairiest man in the world. 96% of Yu's body is covered in hair, about 40 hairs per 1 square centimeter. Hair does not grow only on the palms and feet (more precisely, on the soles).

Such rapid growth of "vegetation", according to doctors, is associated with a rare disease that suffers from Mr. Zhenhuan, called atavism. Due to excessive hairiness, Yu already had to undergo an operation to remove hair from his ears, as his hearing deteriorated sharply.

Unlike most “unusual” people, the hyper-haired man did not hide himself at home and be shy of his appearance, but posted photos on his own site. In addition, his immediate plans include becoming an outstanding rock star of China and marriage.

Four hurricanes, 4 destroyed houses ... It's too much for one family, isn't it? Melanie Martinez, a resident of Louisiana, in a sense, can be called the most unlucky woman in America. Her house was destroyed four times: in 1965, 1985, 1998 and 2005. It would seem that luck turned to face the driver of the school bus, and Martinez became a participant in the reality show on the reconstruction of houses. In just one week, the television team turned Ms. Martinez’s home into a real sweetie. $ 20,000 was spent on everything. New kitchen, new furniture, new appliances. One 50-inch LCD TV just was worth it! Unfortunately, the hostess, her happiness did not promise to be long: on August 29, on the seventh anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, the house was destroyed the next, fifth, time by Hurricane Isaac. Martinez and her family barely managed to escape in a boat with three dogs and five kittens.

4 the most unlucky Englishman

16 is an excellent figure when it comes to age and not at all joyful when it comes to the number of accidents that had to be postponed. It was from so many disasters that a living British resident John Line managed to get out. A lightning strike, a fall from a cliff in a mine, three car accidents ... Not the whole list of troubles in which the poor fellow happened to be.

Failures haunt John throughout life. Born into a poor peasant family with five children and poorly developed lungs, he had little chance of a continued prosperous existence. At the age of 18, he was making repairs in his grandmother's bathroom, feeling thirsty, drank water from the first plastic bottle that came up, and miraculously survived - there was not water in the container, but a disinfectant.

Later, at work, he suffered from a catapult: during a shot, a stone flew straight into John's face and knocked out eight teeth. However, this is not the most famous incident that occurred with Line. As a teenager, he fell from a tree and broke his arm. Having been in the hospital, where he had a plaster cast, the guy went home and managed to break the same arm along the way, but in a different place ... Ah, yes, it happened on Friday the 13th.

3 man tree

The Indonesian Dede Cosvara was born a healthy boy and everything in his life would be good (at least that could be hoped for) if he had not fallen in the forest at the age of ten. Around the resulting scratch, many small warts grew, which eventually grew in all directions. From the feet, the warts spread to the arms.

Mysterious illness cost Dede marriage and career. Over the years, he watched his limbs turn into the likeness of tree branches. Today, he has difficulty walking on his swollen, disfigured legs. The only way to make money for him is to present himself to the public as a tree man.

According to doctors, all of Cosvar’s misfortune is hidden in two reasons: the papilloma virus and the deficiency of the immune system. Many people suffer from the papilloma virus, but immunity helps to cope with it. Recently, doctors tried to help the unfortunate and cut warts using special equipment, but the skin lesions reappeared.

2. Double nuclear strike

Tsutomu Yamaguchi can be attributed to the number of lucky and unlucky people. On the one hand, this person is officially recognized as the only one who managed to survive two nuclear attacks (Hiroshima and Nagasaki). On the other hand, not everyone will cope with the pain that he could bear.

On August 6, 1945, the young engineer was visiting Hiroshima. At about eight in the morning he saw massive flashes of light in the sky, after which he was instantly shot down to earth by explosive force. At the time of the bombing, 140,000 out of 350,000 people died in the city. Tsutomu was among the survivors, he received serious burns throughout the body, was stunned. Yamaguchi spent the first night after the explosion in a bomb shelter, screaming from unbearable pain. There was a cry around, one by one, people were dying. The next day, the engineer, stepping over the corpses, got to the train and headed home to Nagasaki - the second industrial center of the country. Being less than two miles from the center, Tsutomu again saw bright flashes of light in the sky. A 25-ton plutonium bomb was blown up over the city.

Having survived after two nuclear explosions, Yamaguchi remained deaf in one ear for the rest of his life, his skin was in bandages for more than 12 years. The engineer’s wife died in 2008 at the age of 88 from liver and kidney cancer, and her son died in 2005 at the age of 59.

Yamaguchi was an avid supporter of anti-nuclear campaigns, but he was never committed to anti-Americanism.

1. Deadly aport

Imagine: deep winter, a frozen lake, two friends came to go fishing, they took a dog with them. To make a hole, one of his friends decided to use dynamite. This day residents of Ackley Minnesota (USA) will be remembered for a long time. Throwing dynamite into the distance, friends did not expect that the retriever Jerry would take explosives for a stick, an attempt to make a hole in the thickness of the ice - for the desire to play with him. And the dog just decided so, and that there is strength, he rushed for the "stick", and then back - to give the trophy to the owner. Unfortunately, the outcome of this tragic-comic situation turned out to be sad. Mountain fishermen managed to escape away from the dog, they remained alive. The four-legged one was blown to pieces, the coveted hole appeared in the ice, only of much larger size ... and a truck of comrades "went" into the bottom of the lake.

After the incident, the car owner wanted to get compensation from the insurance company, but both attempts were unsuccessful. The insurer categorically refused to pay anything, because the car drowned with someone else's help.

Russia is a country of despondency, and unique. There are few countries in which, under similar living conditions, people feel as unhappy as ours. This is a scientifically proven fact: as a result of studies of the World Values Survey, which lasted 30 years, scientists University of Michigan Ronald Inglehart, came to the conclusion that the Russians are some of the most miserable people on Earth.

The study was conducted in a hundred countries of the world. People were asked how happy they were and examined their sociocultural values. Russia, Nigeria and Iraq took the last places in this “index of happiness”.

Ronald Inglehart says: “Incredible pessimism was revealed back in 1981, when our group conducted a pilot study in the Tambov region. There was recorded a level of unhappiness, as in India and Nigeria, whose inhabitants were much poorer. We did not expect such a result! ”

Since 1991, scientists at the aforementioned university have measured the level of happiness in Russia. And again, they were shocked by the results: our country from a low level of happiness in 1991 fell to a level that was not fixed even in countries affected by war or epidemics! And by 1996, the level of happiness fell even lower!

A slight increase was recorded in 2006, when trips to European countries became available to many residents of Russia. Happiness among Russians was approximately the same as among the inhabitants of Albania. In the last table, Russia is in 88th place out of 97. Ethiopia, Romania and Rwanda are a little happier than our country, and Iraq, Albania and Zimbabwe are unhappier.

- The level of happiness depends on the level of income. In rich countries, there are more happy people, says Ronald Inglehart. - Improving wealth helps people become happier exclusively in poor countries. The greater the inequality in the country, the more unhappy its inhabitants. Democracy is needed - not only in politics, but also in everyday life. A person with freedom of choice is confident that he will be able to change his life for the better, and this makes him happier ... Societies in which tolerance for people of other races, nationalities, religions, sexual preferences is developed is happier. The best indicator of the level of happiness is the attitude towards the woman.

Scientists, led by Inglehart, found that even the inhabitants of Africa are not ready to endure adversity, since the Russians.

Last December, during a visit to Russia, Ronald Inglehart said: “As our 30-year-old studies have shown, the country's well-being and the level of happiness of its citizens are rather intricate. While the country is poor and the people in it are poor, economic growth leads to an increase in happy people. But this does not last long. In poor countries there are fewer happy people than in more affluent people. “I don’t want a country with so many nuclear weapons to be cornered and filled with unhappy people.”

Experts confirm the conclusions of American scientists All-Russian Center for the Study of Public Opinion. According to them, our fellow citizens feel unhappy due to poverty, low incomes, difficult life circumstances, lack of good work, loneliness. The rating of “misfortunes” is completed by rising prices and a lack of confidence in the future.

AND director of the Interdepartmental Center for Social and Economic Measurements of the Russian Academy of Sciences Alexey Shevyakov says: “A huge mass of poor and almost poor people has appeared in our country. On the other hand, we have the top of society - 10-12% of the rich who live separately from a large mass of people. We have a deep socio-economic stratification of society. ”

Persistent depression

- The conclusions made by American scientists are correct. Russia is in such a position that it cannot even be called a disaster. This is something worse, ”says a member of the commission of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation on social issues and demographic policy, the president of a regional public organization promoting the protection of children's rights “The Right of the Child” Boris Altshuler. - For a huge number of families, the birth of a child is a “leap” into poverty and into impossible housing conditions, there is nothing for children to feed, there is nowhere to live with them. The reasons for the mass Russian poverty are known: low incomes due to the suppression of domestic production in combination with monopolistically high prices for the most necessary: the purchase price of a liter of milk is about 10 rubles with a selling price of 40-60 rubles. And so in everything. It is only pleasing that in the “pseudo-market” new Russia, a certain “Air Industry” did not arise, that the very possibility of breathing does not yet depend on the income level of the family. The catastrophic aging of the country's population against the background of low life expectancy (62 years - men, 74 - women, in the USA - 76 and 81, respectively) is said in a WHO report submitted on May 13. Where will happiness come from in such a situation ?!
- Is it possible to correct the situation and increase the level of happiness?

- To do this, first of all, it is necessary to overcome poverty: reduce the price of the “minimum consumer basket” in the areas of housing and food. Massive social construction is required. New jobs will appear - the income of many families, now classified as poor, will increase. By building social housing and roads, President Roosevelt led the United States out of the Great Depression in the late 1930s. The possibility of applying this experience in modern Russia depends on the ability of the state to limit the price appetites of monopolies.

Children must be dealt with, otherwise Manezhnaya Square in 2010, drugs, juvenile crimes are inevitable.

The author of books on child and adult psychology Inna Malkhanova claims that more than half of the world's population accept life as it is, although about a third are concerned about the state of their affairs: “Eastern Europeans do not feel very happy, and regarding Russians I agree with the conclusions of American scientists. 75% of the population of our country lives in poverty. At the same time, in Russia 1.5% of the population owns more than 50% of national wealth.

In this terrible situation, the Russian authorities wrote off the debt of Libya in the amount of $ 4.5 billion, Iraq $ 12 billion, Afghanistan $ 11.6 billion ... Our rulers gave Venezuela a loan of $ 2.2 billion for the acquisition of weapons. The Republic of Nauru, in which about 15 thousand people live, received social programs after recognition of independence Abkhazia loan of 50 million dollars! "

“SP”: - So, in the foreseeable future, the Russians will not be happy?

- What are you talking about? Almost half of the country lives in a state of persistent depression. People run wild about the impossibility of supporting children, unemployment, the fact that they don’t see a way out ... People show unmotivated aggression, commit suicide on minor occasions.

Poverty and misery

The words of Inna Malkhanova are confirmed by the abundance of terrible stories occurring in the Russian state.

The village of Kozlovka, located in the Buturlinovsky district of the Voronezh region, has been shaken by scandals for almost a month. The calm in the village was disturbed after a local guy had a fight with an Azerbaijani peer. The young men admitted that both were wrong and reconciled.

A few days later, a fight broke out again: this time, 20-year-old Alexei Lepyokhin had a fight with 21-year-old Armenian Robert Koshelyan. Some residents sided with Robert: they say that Lyosha has recently returned from the army, his blood is raging ... Another part said that Robert is not an angel, wrote on the Internet that "he will do whatever he pleases." Lyosha did not like this and he expressed his displeasure to his neighbor. As a result, his jaw was broken.

At first, the parents of the brawlers wanted to "solve the world." The Lepokhin family demanded 100 thousand rubles from the Koshelyan family, but they replied that they could provide only 30 thousand. The said amount of the Lepёkhins did not suit and Alex wrote to Robert a statement to the police.

Locals were outraged by the behavior of the Koshelyan family. At the same time, they also remembered the Azerbaijanis whose family opened a bar in the village. A few dozen people decided to liquidate the "hot spot" and headed for the bar. Parents of the victim Alexei Lepokhin were not among them.

The head of the rural settlement, Alexander Golovkov, managed to moderate the villagers. But after a few days almost 500 people gathered near the bar. Residents of neighboring villages came to the rescue of the Kozlovites. People shouted that the visitors were to blame for the fights and the sale of low-quality alcohol. The police managed to calm the heated people with great difficulty.

Local authorities, wanting to put an end to the conflict, invited residents to a meeting in a village club. About 200 people came, but the conversation did not work out. People shouted: “Our children are being beaten, and you are standing up for strangers!”, “Visitors here are getting richer, and we are beggars!”

- In my opinion, the causes of the conflict in Kozlovka are not related to ethnic conflicts. Poverty, a sense of hopelessness, the annoyance that strangers earn a lot of money ... People are tired of a difficult life and spilled anger on visitors, - says voronezh human rights activist Andrei Komarov.

In May of this year, a 14-year-old schoolgirl who lived in the village of Tetyanovo, Gornomariysky district of the Mari El Republic, was found hanging from a porch at home. In a personal diary, the deceased girl explained that the prediction of Harold Camping, an American preacher, about the impending end of the world, prompted her to commit suicide. Teachers and friends of the girl say that she was inquisitive and was actively interested in what was happening in the world.

The schoolgirl changed when she became acquainted with the sermons of the American charismat Harold Camping. The American, whom almost all Christian communities in the United States anathematized as a false prophet, is known for his predictions of the end of the world. The last time Camping voluntarily set the date of the apocalypse for May 21 this year ...

In June, a 14-year-old schoolgirl committed suicide in the city of Kopeisk, Chelyabinsk Region. The girl grew up in a prosperous family, on the eve of the tragedy, she did not have conflicts at school or at home. In a suicide note, the schoolgirl wrote that nobody needed.

- People who accept life as it is are much happier than those who are very anxious about their lives. Alas, the Russians, most of whom are concerned about raising livelihoods in order to feed their children, cannot think like that, ”says Inna Malkhanova.

Once upon a time there lived the most miserable man on earth. He was lonely, did not know love and affection, lived in his invented and closed world. He liked to sit for hours on a windowsill in cloudy weather, look out the window. A man watched as heavy, gray, shapeless clouds fly across an endless sky, dragging out all space. It seemed that soon the whole world would be covered with a gray and nondescript veil of wandering clouds. Through them the sun persistently made its way. The heavy rays of the heavenly luminary fell to the earth, having the form of indestructible pillars. It seemed that the great columns of Olympus could not stand the strength and power of a continuous wind, the severity of gray clouds and the loneliness of an unfortunate person. Finally, the sun defeated a fierce war and the clouds floated away. They resembled ships on a long journey. The cold, nasty wind was their captain, who carried them away from the window on which the unfortunate man was sitting. And he silently watched them. After all, they could fly wherever they wanted, not attached to anything, wandered through cities and plains, mountains and fields. But the unfortunate person did not know that with the first pouring rain they irrigated the earth, thereby giving their life to others that the journey of gray ships through the sky would not last long. Suddenly, a cloud comes down to the window of the unfortunate person. It was not as gray and large as his brothers. The cloud leaned against the cold glass of the visitor to which it flew. On the other side of the window sat an unhappy man watching the cloud. Drops ran across the glass, they resembled roads leading to the unknown. A sharp gust of wind drove the last gloomy clouds from the sky, and the sun flashed in all its glory. Drops on the glass began to play in a rainbow dance. The unfortunate man’s room lit up with all the colors of the rainbow and shimmered like an uncut diamond. The cloud that descended from heaven to earth told the unfortunate person how beautiful the world could be, showed what his life really could be. That one should not be sad over clouds that have long flown away, one should not be envious of the wind wandering with them. Do not think about those who are so free to leave you at any moment. That after all the clouds and heavy rains, the sun will always shine, and after a dark night, dawn will always come, that after any defeat, you will achieve victory. After any bitter tears, you will smile. A small cloud told all the secrets of a happy life to a person. And finally, he said: “Even the most miserable person on earth can become the happiest of billions of others. You just have to wait until the rain passes and the wind blows away the gray clouds. ”
