There are pyramids, but there are no pharaohs: the secrets of the red planet Mars. Pyramids and Sphinx Project Red Sun: Secret Manned Mission to Mars
Humanity has been dreaming of Mars, it seems, since ancient times. And now we are working on how to make a manned flight there. However, conspiracy theorists and simply crazy people are already ready to tell you that humanity has long been on Mars.
These crazy, but very interesting stories will remain stories. At least until we finally set foot on the surface of the Red Planet. In the meantime, let's look at 10 of the most interesting theories related to our cosmic neighbor.
When the European Space Agency came out in favor of a cavity on the Martian moon Phobos, it was consistent with the discoveries of Soviet astrophysicist Joseph Shklovsky in the 1960s.
Shklovsky not only believed that Phobos was hollow, he was also interested in its unusual orbit. The scientist even suggested at one point that this satellite could be of artificial origin.
Over the years, this theory has once again captured the minds of many ufologists, alien hunters, and even paleocontact supporters (people who believe that the Earth was visited in the past by intelligent beings of extraterrestrial origin).
One of the theories born in this wave suggests that Phobos was specially placed in such an orbit and is in fact some kind of ancient space station, perhaps once used as a starting point for a space mission or as a kind of device emergency warning of collisions with other space objects, for example, asteroids.
A more common idea is that Phobos's interior emptiness may indicate that there is water or other liquid inside the moon. According to another assumption, the satellite of Mars was formed from large fragments of asteroids, and the void inside formed naturally. In other words, Phobos is more of an ordinary dense pile of rocks, and not some kind of disguised Death Star.
It should be noted that many space probes were launched to Phobos, but in some strange way they all encountered various system failures and failed, which ultimately, of course, led to mission failures. For some people, these events are not an accident. Such people believe that all these events prove the artificial nature of the satellite, which still remains active and unfriendly to uninvited guests.
Sphinx and Pyramids of Mars
It turns out that a “sphinx” was discovered on Mars, next to which there is a pyramid.
Although most researchers and experts agree that the pyramids are just mountains formed naturally, some people believe that the straight and clear lines, as well as the size of these structures, make them structures (that is, there are artificially created structures)!
The possibility that these objects are volcanoes is also unlikely, since astronomers have studied the Red Planet quite well and can confidently say that the only volcanic region of Mars is located in a place called the Tharsis province, which is 3200 kilometers from the pyramids that were discovered in a place called Kydonia. God does not create straight lines - say supporters of the theories of the Martian pyramids and the Sphinx.
Let's assume that there really is a sphinx and pyramids on Mars. Do they have anything in common with the Sphinx in Egypt and the pyramids at Giza? As you might have guessed, there are those who believe in this. Such people claim that the capital of Egypt, Cairo, in Arabic sounds like al Qahira, which in turn translates to “The Victorious One” or, more interestingly, “the place of Mars.” Some also claim that the Sphinx at Giza was once painted red.
And as the last “evidence” they cite the fact that in front of the supposed pyramids on Mars there is an increased number of stones. Are these stones natural objects? Or are they part of some collapsed structure of an ancient civilization?
Some people, after studying photographs of the Kydonia region, claim that they not only noticed the presence of a third pyramid, but also note that the location of these three pyramids corresponds to the location of the pyramids at Giza. NASA says that since some of the images turned out to be too blurry, some people begin to experience pareidolia - seeing objects that actually are nothing in reality, but are only random outlines and shapes.
Project "Red Sun": a secret manned mission to Mars
According to a story that first appeared in 2011, there was a secret mission to establish a Mars base in the 1970s.
Following the Apollo 17 mission, the last manned mission to the Moon, NASA began conducting secret space missions that were not disclosed to the public. One such mission was Project Red Sun, an unprecedented joint venture between the United States and the Soviet Union to begin the colonization of Mars.
According to this story, the first group of cosmonauts and astronauts arrived on the Red Planet at the end of 1971 and were exploratory. The second mission began in August 1973 with the launch of ISV Columbus with two American astronauts (commander Elliot See and pilot William Rutledge) and Soviet cosmonaut Vladimir Ilyushin.
Shortly after this story appeared, a video of NASA's alleged Red Sun training flight appeared on YouTube. Of course, a dispute immediately broke out about the authenticity of the film. Most people agreed that it was a duck, although, admittedly, it was of very high quality.
This story was published by Italian UFO hunter Luca Scantambulo, and his informant was Rutledge, the pilot of the Red Sun mission. Rutledge also talked about several other top-secret projects, including one in which an alien base was found on the Moon. Rutledge later issued a short statement:
“I drained the leak. What will NASA and USAF do now? An attempt to block its publication or sue me will be direct evidence of its truth. Now they can say whatever they want, that it’s a hoax or a fake.”
NASA employee saw people on Mars in 1979
In 2014, one woman, introducing herself simply as Jackie, called into a radio show on the American radio station Coast To Coast AM and stated that people visited Mars in 1979 and, more interestingly, she witnessed this event.
Jackie stated that at the time she was working for NASA and her main job was receiving telemetry from spacecraft. While performing her duties, she saw two people walking on Mars through NASA's live broadcast channel. The woman assures that both of them were wearing spacesuits, but not quite as obese as you would expect to see on an ordinary astronaut. According to Jackie, people were walking along the horizon in the direction of the Viking rover.
Jackie swore that 6 other NASA employees witnessed this event along with her. When these people tried to quickly inform everyone else about what they had seen and leave the room, they discovered that the front door was locked, and paper was hung on the door window so that no one else could look into it or enter it.
Of course, so far none of these 6 supposed “employees” have contacted Jackie to confirm her words with her.
According to Gilbert Lewin, there is hidden life on Mars
American engineer Gilbert Lewin is best known for his book Complexity Analysis of the Viking Labeled Release Experiments, in which he believes he proved that there was life on Mars in 1976.
The book tells the story of an experiment called Labeled Release, which was carried out using the first Viking rover on Mars. Levin states that using methods that have been adopted and approved by NASA, the experiment showed the presence of organic life in samples of Martian soil that were taken shortly after the rover landed.
However, two other experiments conducted at the same time did not match the results of the first, and therefore the Labeled Release experiment was not taken seriously and was subsequently forgotten.
Despite his reluctance to completely agree with Lewin, Chris McKay, a researcher at NASA's Ames Research Center, once said that there was a possibility that the results of the other two tests that NASA conducted could be wrong. He noted that the control study was conducted in the Chilean Atacama Desert.
It used exactly the same equipment as the rover, but it did not show the presence of any organic molecules, even though the Atacama soil is known to indeed contain organic life.
Panspermia theory: we all came from Mars
In 2013, two different and very prominent scientists unexpectedly “endorsed” the controversial theory of panspermia, according to which life did not appear on Earth, but arrived from another place (in this case from Mars) in the form of molecular forms riding on an asteroid, which it populated with these molecules our planet.
Both scientists - one Steve Benner, who studies the nature of life, and the other Christopher Adcock, the lead author of the study - agreed that all this is very, very likely.
The theory of panspermia itself dates back to the 5th century BC, when the ancient Greek philosopher Anaxagoras made reference to it, although not in such detail as it appears now. It has survived many centuries and has reached the present day. When asteroids containing organic molecules fell on Earth in 1984 and 1996, the theory of panspermia regained popularity.
Most modern scientists now agree that Mars was once, billions of years ago, a completely different planet. It had a dense atmosphere and oceans of liquid water. And perhaps, given all this, this planet could support life. Only sending manned missions to the Red Planet will provide conclusive evidence or disprove this theory.
Martian nuclear war
In 2014, plasma particle physics professor John Brandenburg said that Mars has experienced at least two large nuclear explosions throughout its history. As evidence of his theory, Brandenburg cited the presence of a high concentration of xenon-129 in the atmosphere, as well as an increased concentration of uranium and thorium in the planet’s soil. Moreover, unlike other scientists, Brandenburg does not believe that these explosions could have occurred in any natural way.
Three years earlier, in 2011, Brandenburg stated that the regions of Cydonia and Utopia on Mars have all the signs of an advanced ancient humanoid civilization, and this is most clearly visible in those places where various cataclysms once occurred. And although Brandenburg initially stated that these nuclear disasters were most likely natural in nature, something strange about these regions haunted him.
By 2014, driven by the strange circumstance that the only two places he believed contained evidence of a nuclear holocaust were also the areas that contained the least amount of evidence of an ancient civilization. Therefore, Brandenburg believes that the explosions were not of natural origin, but rather purposeful.
He stated that he had found evidence that, most likely, very high-power atomic bombs were used for the explosions. Taking his reasoning further, he also stated that it was more likely that these attacks were carried out by a different alien race than some organic AI.
Brandenburg's theory is very popular among supporters of various conspiracy theories, but his conclusions have not attracted the attention of any famous scientist.
Strange "find" on Mars
In September 2015, UFO seekers, analyzing photographs of the Martian surface, discovered, as it seemed to them, no less than a “stargate”, half buried under the ground. People, before they made such conclusions, were primarily attracted by the very straight lines of the object.
In addition, the image also noted “an area shaped like parts of a long-destroyed roof of some structure.” In the center of the site there was a strange round structure resembling a gate.

Although these crazy theories are quite consistent with the assumption that ancient civilizations once existed on Mars, in this particular case this “observation” has no scientific basis and, more importantly, evidence. Even if it were proven that this object is of artificial origin (which in itself would be an incredible discovery), there is no reason to believe that this structure is some kind of portal to other worlds.
For the sake of interest, it is still worth noting that ancient writings found on Earth often speak of similar “tunnels” between our planet and Mars, which ultimately makes such “finds” even more interesting and mysterious.
However, NASA itself does not seem to have any comments on this matter, but some conspiracy theorists suggest that the agency is simply very afraid of these ancient technologies and therefore is trying to get to Mars as quickly as possible before someone else does it.
Face and ancient city of Cydonia
Perhaps the most striking mystery of the Red Planet in the eyes of the modern world was the discovery of the "face on Mars", which was first shown to the world in 1976 among the many photographs that were taken during the Viking rover mission.
When they first saw it, most people agreed that in the photograph of the Martian surface they really saw an object resembling a face. Further study of the region of Cydonia, where the “face” was discovered, showed that this object is nothing more than a trick of light. And photographs that were received later, in 1998 and 2001, confirmed this.
However, conspiracy theorists claim that the new photographs were deliberately taken from different angles to make it seem like this was not a face. In addition, they were made to think by the too clear lines of the object. Lines that nature cannot create.
Perhaps even more dubious is the claim by conspiracy theorists that the photographs in the immediate vicinity of the face “clearly” show the remains of an ancient year, as well as the aforementioned pyramids. According to “experts,” such an unusual number of “structures” found here may indicate the rubble of ancient destroyed buildings of a city in which an ancient civilization lived several thousand years ago.
Researchers say that before the last pole shift of Mars, the city and face were located directly on the Martian equator and this was not at all accidental. Graham Hancon, Robert Beauval and John Grigsby even wrote a book, “The Mars Mystery-A Tale Of The End Of Two Worlds,” which states that the objects found are indeed the remains of an ancient civilization.
Many strange objects seen on Mars
From the Viking space missions to the present day, people have had the opportunity to view thousands of images of the Martian surface. And although in most photographs Mars looks completely like a lifeless desert, a world of sand and stones, in some photographs you can still see very strange and sometimes even mysterious objects.
In 2015, for example, a photograph appeared showing objects resembling pillars or even columns with “petroglyphs” applied to them, very similar to those of ancient Egypt. In the summer of the same year, all social media was stirred up by a photo in which, as some said, a female figure was clearly visible on a mountain hill. Years earlier, an image appeared on the Internet that also supposedly showed a woman walking on the surface of the Red Planet.
There were numerous images in which some claimed to show objects resembling the remains of human bones and even skulls. On others, someone “saw” Martian animals (lizards and even rats). In 2015, some big-eyed enthusiast spotted a Martian crab on the surface of Mars.
According to the official version, all these “finds” are a simple trick of the light, but researchers and conspiracy theorists believe that the camera cannot be fooled and in fact, in the NASA archives there are much more interesting photographs and data that are not reported to the world.

But it’s not about Elysium that I would like to talk about today. Sidonia attracted my attention and fascinated me with her riddles. At first my attention was drawn to this area due to a well-known anomaly called “” or simply “the Face”. Now I have no doubt that this is precisely why they were erected - to draw our attention specifically to Sidonia.]]>You have to be absolutely blind to believe NASA’s statements that the “face” is just a trick of light and shadows. In addition, as will be indicated below, the leadership of this organization itself, again, based on indirect evidence, does not think so at all. A photograph of the Sidonia region, in which the pyramids on Mars are quite clearly visible, has been traveling through the expanses of “God Nat” for quite a long time and, nevertheless, it would not be superfluous to present it here again.
There are plenty of all sorts of anomalies in the picture, but, as I said, what excites my imagination most is the so-called “pyramid of D and M,” named after the scientists who first drew public attention to it - Di Pietro and Gregory Molenaar. But what makes this Martian pyramid so unique? It looks like an ordinary hill. Well, while we only had photographs of this area taken by Viking, the explanation with the hill somehow, excuse the expression, “rolled”...
Whereas the analysis of new images dispelled the illusion of the naturalness of Martian objects. There is a hypothesis, and I must say, I completely share it, that pyramids on Mars, and in particular the pyramids of Cydonia, are an encrypted message. A kind of “key” to all the mysteries of the “red planet”. Is humanity really that blind? We spend a lot of money searching for contacts with extraterrestrial civilizations, naively believing that messages from them will be carried by radio waves (), for some reason ignoring messages (obvious!!!) of a different kind.]]> Those who are familiar with the work of Drunvalo Melchizedek, namely, through his “Flower of Life”, I think they will understand what the “golden ratio” is. In simple words this is 1.61803398. This relationship is found in all organic life and is what we perceive as harmony. I will give examples from life. The spiral of a snail is twisted according to the “golden ratio”, the leaves on a tree branch also obey this law and, finally, the ratio of the length of any person’s body from the head to the navel to the length from the navel to the soles is 1.61803398.
Now let’s return to our “pyramid of D and M”. At the very beginning it was believed that, like the Great Pyramid on the Giza plateau, it was quadrangular, but later it turned out that this was not so. This is all due to damage to its structure. Next, I would like to list a short list of everything that this unusual pyramid contains. 
The dimensions of the “Pyramid D and M” are approximately 1 mile by 1.6 miles (extremely close to the “golden ratio”). This structure has five-sided mirror symmetry. In order not to be unfounded, I will quote here an excerpt from the McDaniel Report:
...a mathematically rich figure,
whose geometry includes the mathematical foundations of hexagon and pentagon
and the classic geometric proportions of the “golden section”. The model's twenty interior angles, angular ratios, and trigonometric functions redundantly express the three square roots of 2, 3, and 5 and two mathematical constants: pi (the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter) and e (the base of natural logarithms)... With the exception of the square roots of 2 and 3, the constants appear not alone, but in seven different mathematical combinations. The most common values are e, pі, e/root 5 and e/root 3. These values are repeated four times each, in at least two different measurement modes...
The top of this mysterious Martian pyramid of Cydonia is located at 40.86 degrees north latitude, the tangent of this number is 0.865, and this is nothing more than e/pi! Another relationship related to the geographical location of the pyramid: the nearest angular line is opposite to the line at 40.88 degrees north latitude at an angle of 19.5 degrees. Now pay attention to this angle, this is important, since we will return to it later.
This angle underlies an entire branch of mathematics called “energy-synergetic geometry” and is called the “tetrahedral constant.” As the name implies, the main element here is the tetrahedron. From all of the above, one simple conclusion follows - the pyramid is not located in a random place.”

When the public learned about the upcoming landing of the Pathfinder apparatus on Mars, calls began to be made more and more often to make this very landing in the Cydonia region and to study the pyramids on Mars in detail. All the objects in this area indicate that this is the place that will answer all our questions. Both the “pyramid of D and M” and the “face” - all this is undoubtedly built in order to draw our attention to the intelligence of those who compiled it. This is what was planned from the very beginning...
But as we know, Pathfinder landed in the Ares Valley. Although it seemed, what could be interesting here? But this is only at first glance. Pay attention to the following subtle details of this mission. The solar panels of the lander are shaped like isosceles triangles, so its design is a tetrahedron! Now let's look at the landing site - 19.5 degrees north latitude... Is it a coincidence?

For several decades, there has been fierce debate about mysterious objects on Mars. Message that the Sphinx and pyramids of mars raised an incredible flurry of emotions, but the Americans quickly cooled the ardor of enthusiastic researchers, declaring that neither the pyramids of Mars nor the riddle of the Sphinx existed. This is supposedly a play of light and shadow that creates an optical illusion. However, there was a misunderstanding with the optical illusion, since in the picture, which was taken from a different angle, the objects were preserved, although with the play of light and shadow they would certainly have disappeared. In the 80s of the 20th century, data repeatedly appeared in the press confirming the existence of a pyramid system on Mars.
Ultimately, in November 1994, the American Aerospace Agency (NASA), which is the main US space agency, made the statement: “The Sphinx and pyramids exist on Mars.” Over the past years, painstaking work has been going on in the depths of NASA; the Viking images were analyzed by the best computers at that time. And only after one hundred specialists in the field of cosmology came to an affirmative conclusion, a sensational press conference was held. Experts have tentatively estimated the age of the pyramids of Mars to be in the range from 9000 to 500,000,000 years. Quite a large range.
Even 15 years before the historic flight of Viking 1 in 1961, Richard Hoagland (Brockhvens Institute), commissioned by NASA, gave a report on the presence of traces of an ancient civilization on Mars. This report (“Proposed Consequences of Human Space Exploration”) stated that the Cydonia Plain area on Mars clearly contains traces of objects of artificial origin. It was specifically about the riddle of the Sphinx and the pyramids of Mars.
In the area of the Elysium plateau, the Mariner 9 apparatus recorded a field of quadrangular pyramids. In the southern polar regions of Mars, geometric objects of regular shape were also discovered, for which they were called the “Inca city”. In the northern hemisphere of Mars (Sydonia region), photography of the “city of pyramids” was carried out by the previously mentioned Sphinx, which is located approximately ten kilometers from the “city of pyramids”. Some researchers note the similarity of the Sphinx with a woman’s face with a frozen tear on it. A number of enthusiasts claim that the Sphinx has an ancient Egyptian hairstyle...
If this is really so, then what does this mean? Either the Martian civilization (which later either left or died) was connected with Atlantis, or the inhabitants of Atlantis themselves were capable of carrying out such large-scale space activities. The length of the face is one and a half kilometers, the width is one point three kilometers, the height is 0.5 km. Such a gigantic structure could only have been created by an extremely powerful civilization. However, let us remember the Tibetan City of the Gods with Mount Kailash, which is a pyramid more than six km high. Let us remember the mysterious and formidable stone« mirrors of time" of the same Tibetan complex, the height of which reaches eight hundred meters. This clearly suggests a conclusion about the relationship.
According to available information, there are 25 pyramids in Sidonia: five large and twenty small. The largest of them is almost twenty times larger than the famous Pyramid of Cheops. The small pyramids of Mars correspond in size to the large pyramids of Giza or the pyramids of Brazil recently found in the jungle. The height of the latter reaches 250 meters. The dimensions of the sides of the pyramids of Mars at the base reach one and a half kilometers with a corresponding height of a kilometer.
The clearly visible complex system is striking. The image of the Sphinx is oriented clearly along the meridian of Mars. In the center of the complex there is a kilometer circle. What it is we can only guess. A number of roads approach the circle.
The location of the pyramid complex of Mars is generally comparable with the layout of the Mexican pyramids in Teotihuacan, Uxmal, and Palenque. It is clear that the age of the pyramids of Mars is very ancient. Large meteorites, according to statistics, very rarely hit planets. In this case, you can observe two direct hits on the left large pyramid, as well as a crossroads. But, curiously, some roads are built to bypass meteorite craters. The question arises: did someone build this city in spacesuits?
Viking photographs in the Utopia region show another Martian Sphinx, the mystery of which is enhanced by the fact that it is strikingly similar to the first. In addition, new pyramidal objects were found in the Deuteronilus area. Thus, some civilization, possibly Atlantean, built cities on the Red Planet when the atmosphere of this planet was suitable for life? And the fact that the Martian atmosphere previously contained oxygen in terrestrial concentrations is indicated by a number of facts. How many years ago could this have happened?
In connection with the pyramids of Mars, it is necessary to remember the Moon, which excites no less than Mars with its mysterious phenomena. Photographs of the Lunar-Orbiter 2 space station, taken in 1966, captured amazing objects of geometrically regular conical shape in the region of the Sea of \u200b\u200bTranquility. The photographs were taken from a height of 48 kilometers. These photographs show sharp shadows, the highest of which could have been cast by the monumental obelisk. Eight lunar mysterious objects were analyzed by engineer A. Abramov and candidate of geological and mineralogical sciences V. Avinsky. Sergei Proskuryakov performed a geometric analysis of the patterns of lunar spiers and was amazed. The layout of these lunar objects is similar to the layout of the pyramids of Cheops, Khafre and Mikerin. The centers of these spiers in the Abacus system are located with mirror image precision in the same way as the tops of the three world famous pyramids.
Mars to this day, together with its Sphinxes and pyramids, remains one of the main mysteries of the century. Of the more than ten Russian spacecraft to Mars, not one was able to complete the intended tasks. Of these, only two were able to reach the surface of Mars. The American station Mariner 4 was the first to successfully fly to Mars in 1964, followed by several more stations that took about 8,000 images. Soviet stations failed to do anything in the 60s. In the 70s, the Vikings achieved another success, but our Mars failed. In the 80s, the picture repeated itself. Not all American missions were successful; European ones also did not achieve the desired results. But Russian stations flying to Mars, especially in light of the recent events with the Phobos-Grunt spacecraft, are experiencing some obvious, literally mystical influence. The engineers themselves cannot explain the natural reasons for such selectivity in the event of failures of the devices that launch to Mars...

Pyramids on Mars and pareidolia
We are talking about the psychological effect when we see species familiar to us in random forms. It's like looking for rabbits and birds in the clouds, which sometimes leads to funny incidents. It happens that people see religious symbols or “faces” on Mars.
Of course, the Martian photos with the pyramids led to people calling for people to give up the search for microbial life and go study the Martian civilization. You can study a map of Mars with bizarre pyramid formations and faces on the surface of the planet.
Some have called for NASA to give the cameras to UFO researchers because they are finding much more evidence. In addition, they believe that the agency is carefully cleaning up most of the images to hide evidence of life on Mars from us.
Last year, the YouTube channel ParanormalCrucible found the pyramid in another image of the rover from 2015.
Was there a civilization?
Last year, John Brandenburg (a physicist) stated that there was a Martian civilization, but it was destroyed by another race in a nuclear war. He believed that this was genocide, and the Martians were divided into Sidonians and Utopians.
What evidence? Back in 2011, a researcher said that the red color could be evidence of a thermonuclear explosion. He believed that there was a lot of thorium, uranium and potassium on the surface, which means we are looking at a real radioactive spot. He also finds examples in the atmosphere in the form of nuclear isotopes, reminiscent of hydrogen bomb testers.
The operators of the Curiosity rover received a lot of blame because they didn't want to take a few more pictures. Internet gurus believe that the perfect shape of the pyramids hints at the intervention of intelligence, rather than a trick of light and shadow.
People have been fascinated by the planet Mars since ancient times. Someone was sure that there was definitely life there, someone regarded Mars as a strategic base for aliens, and someone promised that “apple trees will bloom on Mars too.” But one way or another, many different stories and even conspiracy theories are connected with this planet, which will be discussed in our review.
1. Phobos - space station
When the European Space Agency announced that one of the moons of Mars, Phobos, turned out to be hollow, it confirmed the results of Soviet astrophysicist Joseph Shklovsky, who claimed this back in the late 1960s. Moreover, Shklovsky believed that not only is Phobos hollow, but given its unusual and uneven orbit, there is a real possibility that this satellite is of artificial origin.
Over the years, many ufologists, alien seekers, and even theoretical astrophysicists have developed Shklovsky's findings. One of the main theories of this fringe group of thinkers was that Phobos was launched into orbit and was in fact an ancient space station that may have been used as a launching point for space travel or as a defense against asteroids.
Another theory is that Phobos was formed from several large asteroid fragments, leaving a natural void in the center of the structure. Interestingly, numerous attempts have been made to send a probe to Phobos. But all of them, for one reason or another, ended in failure.
2. Sphinx and pyramids of Mars
Not only is there supposedly a sphinx on the surface of Mars, but it is also located in front of structures that some claim are pyramids. Although most researchers and experts claim that the pyramids are naturally formed mountains, some believe that the exact proportions of the structures indicate their artificial origin.
The likelihood that these "pyramids" are volcanoes is also very low, since the only known volcanic region of Mars is the Tharsis region, which is 3,200 kilometers from the site of the pyramids at Cydonia. Therefore, it is not surprising that a number of people have traced the connection of the Sphinx and the pyramids on Mars with the Sphinx in Egypt and the pyramids of Giza.
NASA claims that because parts of the images are blurred, people experience the effect of pareidolia, i.e. seeing certain objects where in fact there is nothing except random patterns and shapes.
3. Project Redsun - secret manned flight to Mars
According to a story that first appeared in 2011, there was a secret mission in the 1970s to establish a base on Mars. After Apollo 17, the last manned mission to the Moon, NASA allegedly began conducting secret space flights. One of them, Project Redsun, was supposedly a joint US-Soviet mission to colonize Mars. The first group of colonizing astronauts reportedly arrived on the red planet in late 1971 on what was essentially an information-gathering mission.
The second mission was said to have launched in August 1973, carrying two American astronauts (commander Elliot See and pilot William Rutledge) and Soviet cosmonaut Vladimir Ilyushin on board ISV Columbus. A video of an alleged NASA training flight has appeared on YouTube. Naturally, a debate immediately broke out regarding the authenticity of the video: the vast majority of people believe that it is a hoax, albeit a very good hoax.
The story came to light thanks to Italian UFO researcher Luca Scantamburlo and his informant named Rutledge (who was the pilot of the Redsun mission in 1973). Rutledge also talked about several other secret projects, including one that allegedly discovered an alien base on the Moon.
4. An American woman is sure that man visited Mars in 1979
In 2014, a woman who called herself Jackie called into a US radio show. She claimed to have previously worked for NASA. In 1979, Jackie was processing telemetry received from the Viking spacecraft, which was the first device capable of sending photographs of the surface of Mars to Earth. While processing the video from the Viking, she noticed 2 human figures walking on the surface of Mars. Moreover, they were dressed in spacesuits, which were not as bulky as those that were used at that time.
According to Jackie, these people came out on foot from the horizon and were approaching the Viking Explorer. Jackie also claimed that six other NASA employees also witnessed the incident but were prohibited from talking about it.
5. Gilbert Levine: There's Hidden Life on Mars
According to American engineer Gilbert Levin, he proved that there is life on Mars back in 1976. This experiment, called "Labeled Release", was carried out using the first Viking rover to land on the red planet.
Levin claims that after the rover landed, soil samples were taken that showed organic life. However, the subsequent 2 experiments did not confirm the results of the first, so it was forgotten.
6. Panspermia: all living things came from Mars
In 2013, two different scientists came forward with "confirmation" of the controversial panspermia theory, which claims that life arrived on Earth (in this case from Mars) in molecular form thanks to an asteroid that hit our planet. The theory itself dates back to the fifth century BC, when the Greek philosopher Anaxagoras referred to it in his writings.
When organic molecules were found on asteroids in 1984 and 1996, the theory gained popularity again. Most scientists agree that Mars was a completely different planet billions of years ago. It had an atmosphere and oceans of liquid water.
7. Nuclear war on Mars
In 2014, plasma particle physicist John Brandenburg stated that Mars has experienced at least two major nuclear explosions in its history. Evidence of this is the high concentration of xenon-129 in the atmosphere of Mars, as well as excessive amounts of uranium and thorium in the soil of this planet.
Three years earlier, Brandenburg had stated that the Cydonia and Utopia regions of Mars had all the signs of an advanced ancient humanoid civilization. In 2014, he noticed that precisely in those regions where powerful nuclear explosions supposedly once occurred, there is the least evidence of the existence of an ancient civilization.
8. Stargate on Mars
In September 2015, UFO researchers analyzing photographs of the surface of Mars stumbled upon what they thought was a “stargate” half buried underground. The object attracted attention exclusively with its straight lines. They also noticed what looked like the remains of a roof that had been damaged a long time ago. There was a circular hole in the middle of the structure. Although in this case, these are purely unfounded statements, even if it were proven that the structure is artificial.
9. Face and ancient city of Cydonia
Perhaps the first great Mars mystery in the modern era was the "Face on Mars", which was first spotted in 1976 in one of the many photographs taken during the Viking mission. When people first saw this photo, most agreed that the photo showed a face on the surface of Mars. After further research, it was officially stated that this was nothing more than a trick of the light.
Photographs of the same area taken in 1998 and 2001 seem to confirm this. However, conspiracy theorists claim that the new photos were deliberately taken from an unfavorable angle. They also argue that the structure itself is too "regular" to be natural.
Conspiracy theorists also claim that there are “obvious” remains of an ancient city in the immediate vicinity of the “Martian face,” including the pyramids mentioned above. They believe that the unusual number of "structures" found in the region indicates that these are the ruins of an ancient city.
10. Strange objects on Mars
From the Viking mission to the present day, people have been able to view thousands of images of the Martian terrain. Although most of these photographs show a desert planet, a world of sand and stones, some photos revealed strange and mysterious objects. In 2015, a dilapidated pillar or column was found in the photo, on the surface of which something similar to petroglyphs of ancient Egypt could be seen. In the summer of the same year, a photo of a woman on a mountain hill made a splash on social media.
A few years earlier, a photograph appeared of a woman walking on the surface of Mars. There have also been numerous photographs showing supposed remains of human bones and skulls on Mars, and some have even found Martian animals in the photographs, such as lizards and even rats. Perhaps the most famous of these images appeared on the Internet in 2015, allegedly showing a Martian crab.
