USE, OGE, GVE and GIA: how not to get confused in school exams. What is GIA, Unified State Examination, OGE: we understand school exams State final certification in the form of GVE

Due to frequent changes, confusion often arises in the minds of schoolchildren and their parents with exams, their forms, terms and subjects that are mandatory for passing. Read below about what the abbreviations USE, OGE, GVE and GIA mean.

GIA - State final certification

“SIA is an annual event for state control of mastering by graduates of the basic general education programs of secondary general education (GIA-11) or basic general education (GIA-9) in accordance with the requirements of the federal state educational standards of secondary general education or basic general education, respectively.”

In other words, GIA is the general name of the exams that students must pass at the end of grades 9 and 11. At the same time, the GIA has several forms: OGE (grade 9), Unified State Examination (grade 11) and GVE (both grades 9 and 11).

OGE - Main State Exam (Grade 9)

“OGE is a form of state final certification for educational programs of basic general education. When conducting the OGE, control measuring materials of a standardized form are used.

At the end of the 9th grade, it is obligatory to take exams in Russian language and mathematics. Students take exams in other academic subjects on a voluntary basis of their choice.

The following are allowed to pass the OGE:

  • Graduates of the 9th grade of general educational institutions of the Russian Federation with annual marks in all subjects not lower than "3"
  • graduates with one "2", with the condition that they will take an exam in this subject
  • foreign citizens, stateless persons, refugees and internally displaced persons studying in a general education institution
  • graduates of previous years who did not receive a certificate

USE - Unified State Exam (grade 11)

“USE is a form of state final certification (GIA) for educational programs of secondary general education. When conducting the exam, control measuring materials of a standardized form are used.

To obtain a certificate, 11th grade graduates take two compulsory subjects: Russian and mathematics. Participants take other USE subjects on a voluntary basis, depending on the chosen specialty and university. If you decide to enter a humanitarian university, then you will be interested.

The following are allowed to pass the exam:

  • graduates of the 9th grade of general educational institutions of the Russian Federation with annual marks in all subjects not lower than "3" and who successfully wrote the final essay (statement)
  • college students
  • graduates of past years: schools, colleges
  • graduates of foreign countries

Thus, if a student has a deuce in one of the subjects, he will not be allowed to take the exam and will remain "for the second year."

GVE - State final exam (grades 9 and 11)

“GVE is a form of State Examination for educational programs of secondary general education in the form of written and oral exams using texts, topics, tasks, tickets.”

This exam is taken after grades 9 and 11 by special categories of students who, for various reasons, cannot pass the Unified State Examination or the OGE (students with disabilities).

So what and when should you submit?

  • If a student is in grade 9, he needs to pass the GIA in Russian language and mathematics for a grade of at least “satisfactory” in order to go to grade 10 or college / technical school.
    • in the shape of OGE.
    • in the form of GVE-9.
  • If a student is in grade 11, he needs to pass the GIA in Russian language and mathematics and at least two elective subjects for a grade of at least “satisfactory” in order to finish school, if desired, enter a university.
    • If there are no health restrictions, the GIA surrenders in the form of the exam.
    • If there are health restrictions, the GIA surrenders in the form of GVE-11.

We hope we have clarified the situation with school exams a little and now it is easier for you to navigate in this area!

MBOU "Secondary School No. 19" IGOSK

GVE is deciphered as it is carried out with the help of tests, tickets, tasks. Like the standard OGE, it has been used in secondary schools since 2002 and today it is a mandatory certification for students in grades 9 and 11.

In essence, the GVE serves as an analogue of the unified state exam (the main state exam), however, it is intended for a certain category of students and has some differences.

To take part in the exams, students or their parents (persons replacing them) must write an application for delivery by March 1 indicating a list of selected subjects and provide documents confirming the impossibility to participate in regular certification. This may be the conclusion of a medical commission or a certificate of disability.

How does the GVE differ from the Unified State Examination or the OGE?

The main difference between the GVE and the USE or OGE is the access to exams for certain categories of students. If exams are taken by healthy children living in their own families, then the GVE is intended for schoolchildren who are in penitentiary institutions or who have health problems.

What is GVE and how does it differ from OGE?

At present, it is difficult to find at least one high school student who has not been touched by reforms in the educational field. Every day, new abbreviations appear in the vocabulary of schoolchildren - USE, OGE, GVE.

And if deciphering the concepts of the Unified State Examination and the OGE is not difficult, then the term GVE causes certain difficulties for some graduates. What's this word? How does it stand for and what is the GVE?

How is GVE stands for?

GVE stands for "State Graduation Exam" and is carried out with the help of tests, tickets, tasks. Like the standard OGE, it has been used in secondary schools since 2002 and today it acts as a mandatory certification for students in the 9th and 11th grades.

In essence, the GVE serves as an analogue of the main state exam, however, it is intended for a certain category of students and has some differences.

What is GVE?

GVE is one of the forms of certification conducted at the state level among schoolchildren who have mastered the program of general or secondary education. This exam is given only to those students who, for some reason, cannot pass the standard test.

Certification provides for passing exams in oral and written form. Mathematics and the Russian language are compulsory subjects, the student can take the rest at his discretion.

When passing certification in the Russian language, students are offered the choice of writing an essay or presentation with a creative task. During testing, there are assistants in the classroom who can provide technical assistance to the student.

Exam options in mathematics consist of ten tasks, including problems in arithmetic, probability theory, geometry and algebra. All of them require a detailed answer and a solution that should demonstrate the student's knowledge in mathematical sciences.

Who takes the GVE?

The list of students is determined by orders of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation and includes schoolchildren who are studying in educational institutions of a closed type, institutions of the penitentiary system, as well as students with disabilities.

The latter include children with mental or physical disabilities - deaf-mute, visually impaired, with severe speech disorders, diseases of the musculoskeletal system, including people with disabilities of various groups.

To take part in the exams, students or their parents (guardians) must write an application for delivery by March 1 indicating a list of selected subjects and provide documents confirming the impossibility to participate in regular certification. This may be the conclusion of a medical commission or a certificate of disability.

How is the GVE going?

Since schoolchildren have limited opportunities, the HVE can be held in 3 stages - ahead of schedule in April, on a general basis in May-June and additionally in July. The place of testing is usually the educational institution where the student received his or her education. Certification is carried out taking into account the peculiarities of the psychophysical development of the student.

The buildings in which testing is conducted should be equipped with everything necessary for the convenience of students - ramps, special chairs, sound amplifying equipment for the hearing impaired or Braille equipment for the blind.

How is the GVE different from the OGE?

The main difference between the GVE and the OGE is the access to exams for certain categories of students. If the OGE is taken by healthy children living in their own families, then the GVE is intended for schoolchildren who are in penitentiary institutions or who have health problems.

The difference lies in the organization of certification. GVE is a control work with the performance of certain tasks, while the OGE is a set of testing, problem solving or creative work.

How does the GVE differ from the GIA and the Unified State Examination?

Recently, there are a lot of abbreviated words such as USE, GIA, GVE, VPR at school. We explain what the numerous abbreviations mean for graduates of grades 9 and 11. We are sure that now there will be no confusion.

GIA- This is a state final certification. It is traditionally held in 9th and 11th grades. GIA has varieties. Let's talk about each of them in more detail.

OGE- the main state exam in 9th grade.

This is a form of state final certification that tests the knowledge of 9th grade students. Examinations are held at special points (PES), standardized test materials, which are called KIMs, are used as tasks.

USE- unified state exam in 11th grade.

This is a form of state final assessment that tests knowledge for the entire course of 11 years of high school education. This exam is also standardized and is conducted according to KIMs. At the same time, the USE scores are the basis for becoming an applicant of a higher educational institution, since when enrolling for the 1st year of a bachelor's or specialist's degree, the main competitive recruitment is carried out precisely on the basis of the USE scores.

GVE-9 and GVE-11- State final exam in grades 9 and 11. This is another form of state examination for students who have certain health restrictions. Also, pupils of educational and educational institutions of a closed type and students in places of deprivation of liberty pass the GVE. These graduates are given the opportunity to pass the state exam in a somewhat simplified form or in more comfortable conditions (depending on the situation). The GVE is conducted at the same time as the OGE and the Unified State Examination. If you have any questions or doubts, then feel free to contact the head teacher of the school, you will be given competent answers. They are required to be aware of all regulations, and are also interested in you completing all documents on time and correctly.

By the way, here is the official GVE-2018 task bank for students with disabilities.

What are the main differences between the OGE and GVE?

1. GVE is almost always a big control work, and not a test on CIMs (although lightweight testing options are also found).

There are several types of exams. For example, in Russian, it can be a dictation, a presentation, and an essay. In mathematics, tests are provided both in oral and written forms. In what format this or that graduate with disabilities (disabled health) will take the exam, is determined on the basis of the conclusion of the medical commission. Sometimes the right to choose the form of the exam is given to the graduate himself right at the exam itself. For example, at the GVE in the Russian language, you can choose between writing a presentation or an essay. Usually graduates choose the task that seemed easier and more understandable to them.

2. Exam time is always increased by 1.5 hours.

3. Participants of GVE-9 and GVE-11 can use the technical means they need (to write off using a smartphone, however, it still won’t work).

4. An assistant may be present in the exam room with the participants to assist.

5. For HVE participants with disabilities, meals and breaks during the exam are organized (and this time will not be counted as exam time).

6. Sometimes the number of graduates who are in the same audience during the exam is limited, their number can be reduced, for example, from 15 to 5 people.

Is it possible to enter a university based on the results of GVE-11?

If you successfully passed the GVE in the 11th grade, this means that you have a school certificate in your hands. You have every right to apply to the university. However, the results of the GVE, in contrast to the USE scores, cannot be counted by any university according to the law.

But do not despair, there is a way out: in this case, each university is obliged to conduct separate entrance examinations for you in order to give you a chance to become a student. What exams and in what form (oral or written) you will take, this can only be found out at a particular university, since each higher education institution has the right to determine the form and complexity of the examination tests independently. To do this, we advise you to contact the admissions committee directly.

What is a medical conclusion of the PMPK?

PMPK is a psychological-medical-pedagogical commission. If you want to pass in the 9th or 11th grade of the GVE, then you cannot avoid this procedure. Only on the basis of the results of the PMPK will you receive an official document giving the right to take the GVE.

PMPK determines the presence or absence of a graduate with disabilities and issues a special conclusion. With this document in hand, the graduate and his family can choose which form of final certification suits them best. Some students with disabilities still choose the Unified State Examination in order not to take additional exams at the university.

It must be remembered that you can receive the conclusion of the PMPK no later than March 1. We advise you not to delay or postpone PMPK until March, because no later than March 1, you must officially notify the school (in a written application) about which exams and in what form you intend to take.

We also remind you that conclusion of the PMPK cannot completely exempt the graduate from passing the GIA (state final certification). Also, this medical certificate does not provide any additional benefits when entering a university. Only children with disabilities, as well as disabled people of groups I and II, can enter a university without competition.

What is GIA, Unified State Examination, OGE: we understand school exams

GIA is the common name for the state final certification for 9th and 11th grades. It is easy for schoolchildren and their parents to get confused in the letter abbreviations, because there is also the OGE, GVE and the Unified State Examination.

What is the GIA and how to understand these concepts?

GIA - state final certification, stands for compulsory exams in the ninth and eleventh grades. Each type of exam has its own name:

  • Grade 9 - OGE (main state exam). It is called the main one for a reason - absolutely all schoolchildren in the country take it.
  • Grade 11 - USE (unified state exam). This exam is taken only by those who complete the 11th grade and enter universities.

1 OGE exam

Let us consider in more detail the examination in the 9th grade: this form of final certification is passed by all schoolchildren in Russia, in contrast to the USE. Based on the results of the OGE, the student will be able to continue his studies and pass the Unified State Examination in two years or enter a college and technical school.

OGE often compared with the Unified State Examination - indeed, the form of conducting is similar to the unified state exam. A ninth-grader must pass two exams in the main compulsory subjects, which include the Russian language and mathematics. Also, the student must choose two disciplines at will - any of the school curriculum.

Mathematics is taken in two modules - algebra and geometry. The Russian language is also tested in several versions - an essay, a presentation, a multiple-choice test, and tasks with a full answer. These two exams are compulsory for all students in the country.

By 2020, they plan to introduce another mandatory exam in the school curriculum - in a foreign language. At the moment, the student can take exams in two more subjects that he chooses on his own. If a ninth-grader plans to continue to go to a specialized class or enter an educational institution, they are advised to approach the choice of subjects consciously. Often, colleges and technical schools require the results of the OGE in a specialized subject.

Based on the results of the exam, the student is issued a certificate of basic general education. Exam results are determined on a scale of points from 20 to 70.

The scheme for conducting the OGE is the same as for the USE - exams are taken at another school, under close supervision and with strict rules. At the moment, all students are allowed to the GIA in the 9th grade, but it is planned to introduce a final interview, the successful completion of which will be admission to the exam.

2 USE exam

Unlike the OGE, the USE is no longer a novelty for Russians - it has been actively held in many regions of the country since 2003. Since 2009, this form of state certification has been the only one in the 11th grade. The USE simultaneously serves as a final exam from schools, lyceums and gymnasiums, as well as an entrance exam to a university.

The exam system in the 11th grade is similar to the OGE. There are also two compulsory subjects - mathematics and Russian. It is also possible to choose two subjects at will, any of the school curriculum.

Innovation in 2015 - mathematics is divided into two areas, basic and specialized. A student can choose a profile version of the exam only if it is required for admission to a university.

Graduates should prepare in advance and choose those subjects that are required for admission to a higher educational institution. There is also an exam in foreign languages, including Spanish, French and German. In 2016, for the first time, a trial exam in Chinese was held in the Amur Region.

According to the results of the exams, the graduate receives points in each subject. It is important to get the minimum number of points that Rosobrnadzor allows. The higher the score, the more chances the applicant has to enter the university for the desired specialty. Each institution of higher education has its own passing score for admission.

The introduction of the USE still causes serious controversy among both children and parents, as well as representatives of the educational system. Preparation for the unified state exam is advised to start as early as possible.

3 HVE Exam

There is another form of state final certification - GVE (the abbreviation stands for state final exam). It is rather an exception to the general rule and applies to certain categories of graduates. These include children with disabilities, children with disabilities, students of educational and educational institutions of a closed type, and so on.

The main final certification awaits all schoolchildren in Russia. The OGE is a great way to test your knowledge in grade 9 and prepare for the exam. And the unified state exam gives the graduate a good opportunity to score high scores for admission to the university and pass the competition.

What is the difference between GIA, USE, OGE and GVE

At the end of the 9th and 11th grades, students pass the state final certification (GIA).

OGE, or the main state exam- is held for 9th grade graduates in Russian, mathematics and two subjects to choose from: physics, chemistry, biology, literature, geography, history, computer science and information and communication technologies (ICT), social studies and foreign languages (English, French, German and Spanish).

The results of the OGE exam affect the grade in the school certificate; on their basis, you can enter a college or technical school;

USE, or Unified State Exam- conducted for graduates of the 11th grade in the Russian language, mathematics (you can choose a basic or profile level) and several subjects to choose from: physics, chemistry, history, social science, computer science and information and communication technologies (ICT), biology, geography, foreign languages (English, German, French and Spanish) and literature.

How many subjects and which of them to take as an option, students decide, based on the requirements of the university, where they plan to enter.

In addition to graduates of the 11th grade, the USE for admission to universities can be taken by graduates of previous years, as well as tenth graders (in subjects for which training has ended);

GVE, or state final exam- takes place in oral and written form using texts, topics, tasks and tickets.

It can be chosen instead of the Unified State Examination and the OGE (if desired) by students with disabilities and students of some other categories.

If desired, these students can take the exam.

Graduates of the ninth grade, who pass the GVE instead of the OGE, to obtain a certificate, it is enough to pass the Russian language and mathematics.

In order for a student to be admitted to the exam, he must write a final essay. The essay is not graded in points, only pass or fail.

Students with disabilities and students of some other categories can choose a presentation instead of a final essay. Graduates of previous years can submit an essay if they wish.

What is the difference between GVE and EGE
Exams at school: What is important to know about the GIA, Unified State Examination, OGE and GVE

Today it is difficult to find at least one student who has not been affected in one way or another by the reform of the educational sphere. Having got used a little to such terms as GIA and USE, I had to get used to the new USE and GVE very quickly. However, the change of abbreviations did not add clarity to the essence of these concepts.

Exam in grade 9 - GIA, OGE or GVE, what's the difference?

What is OGE?

First of all, the OGE and the GVE are parts of an integral system (State Final Attestation) in accordance with the Order of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation of December 25, 2013 and are held in the 9th graduating class. That is, the GIA, as defined by law, can take place in two forms − GVE and OGE:

1) The OGE is conducted using KIM (control measuring materials) for all students in secondary educational institutions of the country and persons with foreign citizenship, statelessness, refugees, migrants who have independently mastered the entire required volume of the educational program and have access to the GIA.

2) The GVE is carried out through a written and oral examination - texts, topics, assignments, tickets, tests - for all students of special secondary educational institutions of a closed type, including those who are sentenced to imprisonment, and people with disabilities.

As for the definitions themselves, the decoding of the OGE is as follows - “Basic State Exam”. Accordingly, GVE is the “State Graduation Examination”. They are mandatory for all students completing the 9th grade, and consist of passing two compulsory subjects (mathematics and Russian) and two disciplines to choose from.

What is GVE?

This format of the unified state exam is taken by all ninth-graders and eleventh-graders who have any restrictions due to their health or study in specialized institutions of a closed type. The rest, who do not have health problems, pass the GIA in the form of the OGE according to standard tests (KIMs).

However, in the coming year, the Department of Education has already provided for some changes in the system of state exams. For example, the GIA (OGE) 2015 will begin no earlier than May 25 for all compulsory subjects and no earlier than April 20 for the rest. All information regarding the OGE will be published in the media and on the official websites of educational authorities until April 1.

Changes in the GIA 2015 (OGE)

In the OGE 2015, changes will also affect the very issuance of a matriculation certificate. Now, to obtain it, you must pass at least four exams (two mandatory and two optional) with a score of at least “satisfactory”. In addition, mathematics and the Russian language, as before, remain unchanged for delivery. The remaining subjects are individually selective for each student and make up a list of twelve disciplines, including the OGE in English: physics, chemistry, computer science, geography, social studies, literature, history, biology, German, Spanish and French. As for the content and procedure for conducting the GIA, the structure of the measuring materials and the duration of the exam itself remain unchanged.

Thus, OGE and GVE are, in essence, two names for one general process of passing final exams, the difference between which lies only in minor positions.

State final certification (GIA) is mandatory and is carried out at the end of grades 9 and 11. Its purpose is to determine the compliance of the results of the development of educational programs with existing standards and requirements.

GIA after grade 9 includes compulsory exams in the Russian language and mathematics, as well as exams in two academic subjects of the student's choice. You can choose from physics, chemistry, biology, literature, geography, history, social studies, foreign languages, computer science and information and communication technologies. GIA after grade 9 is carried out in the form of the main state exam (OGE) or in the form of the state final exam (GVE).

GIA after 11th grade includes two compulsory exams in Russian language and mathematics. Students take exams in other academic subjects on a voluntary basis of their choice. You can choose from literature, physics, chemistry, biology, geography, history, social studies, foreign languages, computer science and information and communication technologies. GIA after grade 11 is carried out in the form of a unified state exam (USE) or in the form of a state final exam (GVE).

The GIA in the form of the OGE and the USE is carried out using control measuring materials, which are sets of tasks in a standardized form. The form of passing the GIA in the form of the OGE and the Unified State Examination is a general rule for students of educational organizations, including for foreign citizens and stateless persons, refugees and internally displaced persons. In addition, the OGE and the Unified State Examination are taken by students in the form of family education or self-education, admitted to the GIA in the current year.

GIA in the form of the Unified State Examination in mathematics is carried out at two levels:

  • Unified State Examination in Mathematics of the Basic Level. This exam is aimed at those who do not need mathematics in their further education. Either training is not expected at all, or it is assumed in specialties for admission to which entrance examinations in the subject of mathematics are not required.
  • Unified State Examination in Mathematics at the profile level. The results of this exam are recognized as entrance to universities for undergraduate and specialist programs.

GIA in the form of GVE is conducted in the form of written and oral exams using texts, topics, assignments and tickets. The form of passing the GIA in the form of GVE is an exception to the general rule and applies to students:

  • with disabilities;
  • handicapped and handicapped children;
  • mastered in 2014-2016 educational programs in educational organizations located on the territory of the Republic of Crimea and the federal city of Sevastopol;
  • in special educational institutions of a closed type;
  • institutions executing punishment in the form of deprivation of liberty;
