Indifference paralysis of the soul. Indifference - paralysis of the soul What is a healthy soul

God will punish us for the bad, and the devil for the good. And both - for indifference.

(Mechislav Shargan)

We live in a very strange world - a world where words, counting as material goods, have become weightless, having lost their true value. A world that believes in the religion of money but doesn't trust people. A world where lies are the tool of happiness, and betrayal guides friendship. Such is it - the world in which we go with the flow, becoming part of the same faceless crowd. And the larger this crowd, the more we feel almost bestial loneliness. After all, here they plan, but do not dream, embody materially, and do not dream. Pass by, but do not sympathize. Indifference is our everything, the main advantage, while ordinary human kindness is an outright weakness. There is no place for feelings where omnipresent knowledge is at stake, where “seeming” is always easier than being. And yet, we continue to live, confident that we have no other choice. Is it really?

What is a healthy soul?

The great classic of Russian literature, whose "highlight" has always been conciseness and clarity of statements, once said that indifference paralysis of the soul - and this statement can hardly be argued. They say that paralysis cannot be cured, so is it possible to get rid of the indifference of the soul? Physiotherapy, willpower, courage - can they help a little, as in the case of physical paralysis?

Indifference develops by a chain reaction - passing from person to person, making even "healthy" sick. Has anyone caught themselves thinking for a long time that he simply “doesn’t give a damn”? What's scary about the future? That the tears of old people and children are sharp needles in the heart, and the lack of sincerity and kindness in the world are heavy stones around the neck?

A healthy soul is not tears when watching scrupulous news reports, by no means: one should not confuse indifference and impressionability. This is, first of all, compassion for someone else's pain through taking it on oneself. The usual question is: what would happen to me if ... can radically change my mind and defeat this scourge of modern humanity. The basis is the right upbringing and culture. Taking the initiative and responsibility, not isolating yourself from the surrounding reality with constant concern and your own problems, learning to trust others, to be kind and merciful, to help those who need it (just with yourself, not with money!) - these are the main factors for healing the soul.

People with disabilities and indifference

Any severe bodily handicap - deafness or blindness, motor impairment or dementia - puts a kind of "stigma" on a person, in most cases scaring off others. Yes, healthy people try to sincerely show participation, sympathize, moreover, tearful pity even appears in their eyes, but the main driving force in the reaction of society is precisely the fear of “being different from everyone else”. And this is not surprising, because man by nature is a collective being. Have you ever seen how weak and frail individuals are treated in the herd? They are shunned, they are shunned, they are driven into a corner. But people are not animals. People should be, first of all, people. And that's the whole point.

Why, then, so often, passing by a person "on wheels", most people, at best, shyly lower their eyes to the bottom, at worst, turn away completely, not hiding disgust. Who is afraid to look into the eyes of an indifferent passerby - a disabled person or the remnants of his own conscience? Of course, to pass, and pretend that "did not notice" - it's always easier and easier. “Care for the disabled is the business of the state, my business is to pay taxes” is the opinion of the majority, based on indifference. And what is the state, if not ourselves?

There are many, even very many, disabled people in Russia. But for some reason they are rarely seen walking in parks, squares or relaxing in public places. Why? Because not a single corner is adapted to the needs of special people, despite the current trend to avoid the categorical “disabled person” with a more loyal and humane one - “a person with disabilities”. Again, what is this, if not indifference? Sometimes disabled people do not show themselves to the world simply because they cannot physically do it. But the main reason is the feeling of one's own uselessness to society, its burdened by the presence of the "white crow".

Unlimited indifference or participation without borders: examples of modernity

Most recently, there was a case that almost all the media were talking about: the younger sister of the world-famous top model Natalia Vodianova, who suffers from severe forms of cerebral palsy and autism, was kicked out of the cafe, motivating her actions by the fact that a girl with similar deviations scares away the clientele with her "abnormal" behavior. A clear example of the alienation, immorality and facelessness of modern society, the predominant part of which believes that disabled people are “to blame themselves”, which causes negative and similar attitudes. Everything - that says it all. As they say, "know comments": people do not like dissimilar, they are like an invisible threat. And one can only guess how many such threats arise and end badly, far from human knowledge, because not all disabled people have public sisters who are able to make a fuss and fight for the rights of special people.

Have you ever wondered why there are so few disabled people in Russia? More precisely, why are they simply not visible? When leaving abroad, there are many times more of them, but this is by no means because the Russians are a healthier nation than everyone else. And because people with disabilities live there, but do not exist, they are not “second-class”, but simply people who are surrounded by a world thought out to the smallest detail: ramps in residential buildings and supermarkets, beveled curbs on the sidewalks and elevators that comfortably fit a stroller , and in its absence, a ramp. There are doorbells - just reach out! - and fitting rooms adapted for a wheelchair, as well as a number of free parking spaces in parking lots that no one would even think of taking. All this is nothing but the indifference of the state? Undoubtedly. However, first of all, it is the participation of people living according to human rules, not animals.

Once again, looking away from the stroller, you need to think that any person, regardless of the characteristics of his medical record, is limited in his abilities. You can beat your chest as much as you like and talk about sincerity, cordiality and humanity, send SMS for charitable needs as much as you like and praise yourself, they say, “what a fine fellow I am.” But as long as there is fear above all this, everything is reduced to zero, everything is empty.

And in conclusion, I want to quote the words of Ivan Okhlobystin:

“The worst crime that we can commit towards people is not to hate them, but to treat them with indifference; this is the essence of inhumanity. Please don't ever say "I don't care"...

Anna Grishko. Specially for the website cerebral palsy-mom.

“I don’t care… It doesn’t concern me… It doesn’t interest me… Leave me alone… Don’t interfere with me….” Such phrases have been heard and uttered by each of us. A person wants to be left alone, he does not want to have anything to do with certain people and events, he cares and is not interested in anything.

Why did people become indifferent not only to themselves, but also to their relatives, friends, neighbors? What are the consequences of this total indifference?

To begin with, I want to consider what indifference is. Indifference is the coldness of the soul, the indifference and inattention of a person to the world. A person with a hard heart cannot love people, nor the world, nor the Almighty. If a person is inattentive to the misfortune of another, then he is less interested in this than in his own affairs. The beginning of indifference is pride and selfishness. Of course, you will have an answer to my saying - little time, no money, etc. Undoubtedly, the accelerated pace of people's lives, especially in megacities, leaves a huge imprint. An ordinary modern person does not have time to be at work, in the family, with friends and do good deeds, since the time of moving from one place to another evaporates desire and strength.

As a person from a big city, I myself know how difficult it is to find time for kindness. We began to perceive murders, violence and other crimes as something ordinary and everyday, even if they happen next door. We are no longer surprised that children start drinking and smoking as early as elementary school, that they take drugs, on the contrary, many sellers and even pharmacists shamelessly sell them a poisonous potion.

Islam teaches us and even warns us to see everything that surrounds us and to be responsive and attentive to people and everything created by the Almighty. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) often said that indifference is part of the character of the wicked, and the absence of indifference and, conversely, the presence of traits opposite to indifference (such as love, compassion, care and participation) is a sign of righteousness.

A.P. Chekhov gave a wonderful definition of indifference, which was the beginning of my article: “ Indifference is paralysis of the soul, premature death". Indeed, indifference is a sign of a spiritually dead person - a person with a dead spirit, not a regenerated person. Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him) called such people “the dead” (Luke 9:60).

Wanting to defend himself, a person often quite unconsciously begins to portray indifference. However, over time, a problem arises, because indifference and indifference often become an internal state of a person. Undoubtedly, indifference does not come by itself, it comes from the lack of affection from the parents and passes with age into a complex degree of indifference.

Everyone knows this phrase: Do not be afraid of enemies - in the worst case, they can kill you. Do not be afraid of friends - in the worst case, they can betray you. Fear the indifferent - they do not kill and do not betray, but only with their tacit consent does betrayal and murder exist on earth

Indifference limits us in many actions, as well as on the path to righteousness. An indifferent person cannot escape Hell unless he renounces his indifference.

Do not be indifferent, for indifference is deadly to the human soul… (Maksim Gorky)

An indifferent person cannot be a seeker of truth, because he is indifferent to truth; He will also not be able to receive salvation, because he is indifferent to his spiritual state, and to the good news of salvation; An indifferent person cannot serve people, because he is indifferent to his neighbor, just as he cannot serve the Almighty; An indifferent person is not able to truly believe, love, compassion and self-sacrifice, because these traits are the opposite of indifference.

You can get rid of indifference, one of the options is to look at the environment, society ... or you just need to set a goal, such as the goal of Allah's pleasure, and achieve it in all respects.

Dear reader, with my article I wanted to show indifference all over, such a vice as indifference is treated, because everyone can change everything. There is a fire of good in each of us, we can make the world kinder, and every single one of us is able to change the world for the better!

Direction " Indifference and responsiveness"is included in the list of topics for the final essay for the 2017/18 academic year.

Below will be presented examples and additional materials for developing the theme of indifference and responsiveness in the final essay.

FIPI commentary on the essay in the direction of "Indifference and responsiveness"

Subject directions "Indifference and responsiveness" orients schoolchildren to awareness of the diversity of forms of a person's relationship to the people around him and to the world as a whole.

These relationships can be expressed in the form of indifference to others, unwillingness to pay attention and sympathy to a stranger, or vice versa - in the form of frank empathy for someone, the ability to sincerely rejoice at someone's successes and achievements.

Both hypostases of human relations are presented in the literature. On the one hand, we meet selfless heroes who are ready to respond to other people's hardships and joys, and on the other hand, selfish, proud and indifferent characters who are only concerned about their own fate.

An example of a final essay on the topic Indifference and responsiveness

You can live your life differently. Pass with a zealous step over the heads of enemies, friends, strangers and loved ones. Or do what you can to help relatives, pay attention to the lonely, take care of the house, the street, the city ... and, of course, for your country.

Be an egoist, only care about yourself - or feel, support, empathize? Despite the obviousness of the answer, everything is somewhat more complicated than it seems.

Science has proven that only a psychopath - a person with an obvious psychiatric disorder - can be absolutely indifferent and not feel sorry for others. These people basically do not understand feelings. Gradually, they master the language of spiritual sensations, moods and emotions. But for them, this language is "non-native", it is needed only to manipulate other people. Even their own children and parents have no spiritual value for individuals suffering from psychopathy. And this is perhaps the most exhaustive and absolute manifestation of indifference.

In real life, indifferent people, of course, do not have such radical character traits. Ordinary indifference is selfishness, indifference, indifference of a person. This is a focus solely on one's own interests, one's own benefit, one's opinion. Such people do not want to help, sympathize, support or approve.

In my opinion, the main problem of the correlation between the categories of indifference and responsiveness is that these character traits have a deep subconscious context. An indifferent person can be explained that to sympathize, support and help other people is good, positive, creation and love. All this is quite understandable for an indifferent person, but she is controlled by completely different thoughts and motives - achieving her own goals, ensuring personal comfort, obtaining her own benefit. An indifferent person accepts all the previously listed synonyms for responsiveness only if it turns out to be beneficial for him. It is this attitude towards others, this way of thinking that forms the basis of a selfish personality. It is almost impossible to change such a person.

The opposite of indifference is responsiveness. This is a character trait that manifests itself in compassion, sympathy, sympathy, good nature and attentive attitude to the lives of others. A sympathetic person will not be able to pass by someone in need of help. His soul is open, he sincerely empathizes and rejoices for friends, relatives and loved ones. And this brings him true satisfaction and fills him with spiritual strength.

Responsiveness is a positive and creative property of a person. It is an integral component of social interaction and the progressive development of society. This is one of the most important features due to which human civilization progresses.

Returning to the previously voiced thesis about the low probability of eradicating indifference, it is worth recognizing that responsiveness is a much less stable and indestructible trait of a person. Under the yoke of life's hardships and disappointments, anger and aggression of others - the sensitivity of the soul becomes stale, sincerity and frankness are replaced by distrust, and sympathy - by hypocrisy. That is why it is so important to form and constantly improve responsiveness in our heart, to practice goodness in deeds, and in thoughts - openness, sensitivity and empathy.

Theses and arguments for an essay on the topic Indifference and responsiveness

1. Indifference and responsiveness to people (outsiders or relatives; friends or opponents; just to those who need help or support). It would be appropriate to consider an indifferent attitude to other people's troubles and indifference to success. It will be interesting to compare and compare the heroes of literary works - philanthropists and misanthropes, egoists and good-natured sensitive characters).

The theme of indifference in love deserves special attention. Indifference and unrequited feelings are a favorite subject of popular fiction.

2. Indifference and responsiveness to the surrounding world, animate and inanimate nature.

3. Indifference and "responsiveness of the soul" to aesthetic values, art and beauty.

4. Indifference and responsiveness as two extremes of human nature. Here you can analyze the forms of extreme manifestation of these properties: indifference - in fatal egoism and indifference, and responsiveness - in fanaticism. A person inclined to help in a row, forgetting about himself, often literally "puts on his neck" the object of his care. In fiction, as in life, such examples abound. (For example, A.P. Chekhov’s “Scum” or even A.S. Pushkin’s Tale of a Fish and a Fish).

Direction "Indifference and responsiveness."

Indifference is indifference to everything that surrounds us, lack of interest in the problems of society, in eternal human values, indifference to one's own fate and to the fate of other people, the absence of any emotions in relation to anything. A.P. Chekhov once said: “Indifference is a paralysis of the soul, premature death.” But why is such an attitude to life really so dangerous?

Anger, like love, like confusion, like fear and shame, shows a person’s interest in anything, emotions become an indicator of vital energy, and therefore a blush coming to the cheeks is always valued more than a lifeless, cold pallor and an indifferent, empty look. . Slightly noticeable at first glance, manifestations of indifference to what is happening invariably develop into apathy, and as a result, lead to the degradation of the individual. In the story of A.P. Chekhov "Ionych", the author, together with the reader, traces the path of a person, from which vital energy gradually flowed away and the spiritual principle evaporated. Describing each stage from the biography of the hero, A.P. Chekhov emphasizes with what swiftness indifference penetrated Startsev's life and left a definite mark on it. From an outstanding personality and a promising doctor, the hero slowly but surely turned into a screaming at his own patients, a gambling, greedy, stout man in the street, not noticing the passage of time. For the once energetic and lively hero, only his money was now of exceptional importance, he stopped noticing the suffering of people, looked at the world with dryness and selfishness, in other words, he became indifferent to everything, including himself, which led to inevitable degradation. .

We all live in a society and depend on each other - such is the nature of man. That is why the indifference of each individual leads to the indifference of the whole society. In other words, a whole system is formed, an organism that destroys itself. Such a society is described by F.M. Dostoevsky in the novel Crime and Punishment. The main character, Sonya Marmeladova, at the level of need, felt the importance of self-sacrifice and helping people. Looking at the indifference of those around her, she, on the contrary, tried to help everyone in need and do everything in her power. Perhaps if Sonya hadn’t helped Rodion Raskolnikov cope with her moral torments, if she hadn’t instilled faith in him, if she hadn’t saved her family from starvation, then the novel would have had an even more tragic ending. But the indifference of the heroine became a ray of light in the gloomy and damp Petersburg of Dostoevsky. It is terrible to imagine how the novel would have ended if it had not had such a pure and bright hero as Sonya Marmeladova.

It seems to me that if every person takes his eyes off his problems, starts looking around and doing good deeds, the whole world will shine with happiness. Indifference is dangerous because in any case it carries darkness with it, it is the antithesis of happiness, joy and goodness.

Indifference and responsiveness FIPI comment: “The topics of this direction aim students at comprehending different types of a person’s relationship to people and to the world (indifference to others, unwillingness to spend mental strength on someone else’s life or sincere readiness to share his joys and troubles with his neighbor, to provide him with disinterested help ). In literature, we meet, on the one hand, heroes with a warm heart, ready to respond to other people's joys and troubles, and on the other hand, characters embodying the opposite, selfish, personality type.

Description of the slide:

Indifference is an indifferent attitude to other people, to their problems, troubles, unwillingness to help them at least a little, to alleviate their pain and suffering. Indifference is also an indifferent, passive attitude to everything that happens. Indifference is a character trait of a person that leads him to spiritual emptiness, unwillingness to respond to the feelings and emotions of others, to anger and even cruelty. An indifferent person feels sorry for nothing and no one, he loses his shame and conscience. Indifference is sometimes the result of soul fatigue, when a person has experienced so much in his life that he tries to save himself from new troubles with indifference. Such indifference may pass with time, the soul will gradually begin to warm up, return to its previous state, when a person can again sympathize with others. But such a process may not occur, then the person will remain completely indifferent to everything around. Indifference is the loss of a person's ability to love, make friends, appreciate anything in life, the inability to enjoy the beauty around, because indifferent people do not care. Responsiveness is one of the positive qualities of a person, which manifests itself in the desire to help another, to sympathize with him, to be near, to provide assistance.
